oooh that is bloody good - is that fairly typical of the sound?

It’s fairly typical of that album, the latest one from a couple of years ago is ok but as with everything Mr Norris does (The Grid, Beyond the Wizards Sleeve ...) he goes off on tangents. The first two albums of that project are good, the third one is variable, I think he was trying to have a hit again

He was at Uni the same time as me and we have a number of mutual friends, we were even rival club promotors at one point. He's a nice bloke, even at Uni he was running the Bam Caruso label and writing for the NME but he's also a bit socially awkward, even in conversations he goes off on tangents. But that was all before he became a pop star with The Grid

I used to love Zumpano, they were the band formed by Carl Newman who I think went on to form The New Pornographers. They released 2 exceptional albums, power pop, loosely and their debut, Look What The Rookie Did was fantastic. I listened to it again this week on my commute (see it isn't always country music) and it still doesn't disappoint. If you like Destroyer or New Pornographers, give this, their debut single a blast.

@maqroll - A Khruangbin record caught my eye a couple of years ago.

I was thumbing through a box on the counter in a rekkid shop whilst waiting to be served.

Already had a handful of stuff, really didn't want to buy anything more, but on closer inspection they'd covered Ennio Morricone and Serge Gainsbourg.

Obviously couldn't leave it then. It wasn't quite what I expected. It's quite understated really.
