David Cartlidge (@davidjaca on Twitter) from beIN Sports says that the interest is very, very real. He wrote the below on him in 2013:

A lot depends on the skill of the coaches to blend the players in to a unit that can defend and attack in response to the mood of the game.

just like a blender in a distillery is the skill of putting all the attributes together to get the whole thing......" The Team" or the whiskey in the bottle.

11 players are not necessarily a team....we have had Managers who had the staff to do it.

some of the most modest individuals put together to compliment each other can shock.

buying individuals is just part of it.....blending is the essence.

Good post, Tro, and a whiskey reference too. Extra good for that.

Messi would cost more than our club.......  lol.. hypothetically speaking..if we sign Messi.. would we be instant CL contenders?

You sign a big name marquee you will sell lots of merchandise..   sponsorship etc you do make some money back.. unfortunately only works for the bigger clubs with bigger fan bases.

I read now that we cannot afford 50k a week for Sinclair.. it is alot for him but it is the going rate these days. It is just sad that we cannot bring in players that he wants and has to settle for Tonevs and Helenius of the world.

I read somewhere that Sinclair isnt even his main target for the winger role.

Cannot afford it, or do not think he is worth it. Big difference.

If it is the latter, cannot disagree with them. Think Sinclair has had his day.

Bullshit speculation for jan don't think this is going to happen Sinclair is our main target

This seems more solid than Sinclair in my opinion

Didn't Lambert confirm that he is interested in Sinclair in his press conference today?

Telegraph reporting Swansea are interested in Lowton.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/swansea-city/11333799/Swansea-prepare-2m-swoop-for-unsettled-Aston-Villa-defender-Matthew-Lowton.html

Swansea City are weighing up a £2 million bid for unsettled Aston Villa defender Matthew Lowton.

Garry Monk, the Swansea manager, is keen to sign a new right-back this month and has targeted either Lowton or Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Naughton.

But Spurs's asking price of £5million for Naughton means Lowton is emerging as a cheaper alternative and Swansea could make an offer.

Lowton is growing increasingly frustrated over a lack of first-team opportunities at Villa has met manager Paul Lambert to discuss his future.
