Davkaus
I'm looking forward to it this year. Got all presents bought already. Boycotted the proper work Christmas night out and arranged one just with a small number of colleagues who all get along and go for regular nights out anyway Going to the parents', so no cooking, and no extended family for the first time in years so there should be no drama for once. First time in 5 years I've not had to work either Christmas Eve or Boxing Day, I have the full week off.

Ingram85
Quality street, turkish delight, snowballs, those cinnamon/ginger german biscuits things, dates in a weird shaped tub thing with the nobbly stick, christmas movies, christmas jumpers, wrapping presents, visiting family, getting a bit drunk on sherry, christmas dinner, opening presents, putting the tree up and decorating the house, spending time with friends getting merry, finishing up at work for christmas, mince pies etc.... I know its and advertisers dream, its cheesy and corny and a little anti climactic but **** it, i love christmas and having been a miserable bastard for most of my adult life ive decided for myself and my mental health that its time to just go along with it all, im fed up of being cynical all the time and if you cant enjoy christmas then you may as well just blow your own brains out. Its part of the reason im looking forward to having kids as it will hopefully bring some of that magic back.

All I hear in my head when walking around shopping centres with the piped-in bloody humbug carols is "remember, shoppers: spend, spend, spend".

You could work in one of those places. I have to listen to the same 20 christmas songs, on a loop, 9 hours a shift, for 8 weeks. I'm near suicide already. Much as one shouldn't joke about suicide, nobody can condemn you unless they have known the agony that you must surely be suffering. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. All I hear in my head when walking around shopping centres with the piped-in bloody humbug carols is "remember, shoppers: spend, spend, spend". I've reached the point where i now care more about the presents I give than the ones I receive. If that's because of commercialisation then so be it. It makes me happy.

Amsterdam_Neil_D
Its not really a big thing in Holland at all. It's all a bit odd, the kids get presents on the 5th December (If school day, then school day it is). (Imagine that, here's a PS4, off to school you go :-)) However, in my house it's the 25th and I don't give any presents until then.

Kids leave their shoes out and get some chocolate ... Maybe that's why my kids seem incapable of putting their shoes away the rest of the year as the associate it with reward .... and then they get a visit from Jebus on the 24th
