PaulC
Yes theres the obvious one by Banks against Pele, but a lesser known one is the penalty save he made against West Ham for Stoke in the league cup. Quite brilliant
Stevo985 Posted November 16, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted November 16, 2014 We've had this thread before. I'll be contributing later when I'm on my laptop. Coupe and schmeichel hold two of my favourites. Schmeichel one is when he was at City.
The_Rev
I'll get a couple of the obvious answers in early: Jim Montgomery in the cup final. David Seaman vs Mr Karren Brady.
VillaChris
Schmeichel had loads at his peak...a couple v Newcastle and Arsenal spring to mind.
The_Rev
And of course, this one: I remember watching this game live, I couldn't quite figure out what he had done until they showed a replay.
Stevo985 Posted November 16, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) Coupet https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GFTzpS1zKDI Schmeichel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvRBv3kMB4c That Seaman one is right up there. Those are the best saves for me. The ones where it's not just about the keeper getting there, they have to then do a second action to keep the ball out. A scoop or a flick or something. That's more than just reflex. Edited November 16, 2014 by Stevo985
AVFC_Hitz
Guzan against QPR was quite magnificent.http://youtu.be/vLzZOuoIdgQ Edited November 16, 2014 by AVFC_Hitz
Stevo985 Posted November 16, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted November 16, 2014 (edited) It really really was you know. If that had been made by De Gea or Cech we'd be seeing it all over the place And that's exactly my point about the two actions. If Guzan just reaches that, it will still go in. He had to claw at it to give it the momentum to stay out. Its a superb save. Edited November 16, 2014 by Stevo985
packoman
Another Guzan one. Although the lack of power in the shot kind of takes away from the save. Edited November 16, 2014 by packoman

Zatman
for me the important saves are the great saves like Guzan vs QPR so im going to go for this in World Cup extra time, people will say he is lucky but if he doesnt spread himself he doesnt make the save and Spain dont win the World Cup
dont_do_it_doug.
Another Guzan one. Although the lack of power in the shot kind of takes away from the save. Weren't that and the QPR save within a couple of weeks of each other too?

rodders0223
Coupet's for me, is the greatest save of all time. Joe Hart's when he is sprinting back following a corner against united should be up there too. Any semblance of your surroundings and positioning is gone. It's pure instinct. Tegis Posted April 5, 2015 VT Supporter Share Posted April 5, 2015 (edited) Zaki Badou on Rummenigge in the 1986 WC always pops up in my mind when it comes to saves. One of my early football memories that will not go away. Edited April 5, 2015 by Tegis
