We played quite well at the start I felt.  Then, as is usual with Villa of late, we unearth something to bring us down.  We're in for a fight. Yet. Again.

Difficult to sum up that match other than to say it was inevitable as soon as benteke was sent off, which ever way you cut it, ultimately he deserved the red for raising he's hands to an opponents face.

The ref made son vert strange calls in favour of spurs though, vertonghan was off the floor for he's 2 foot lunge and wasn't in control of he's body, which, also by letter of the law was a red card offence.

Of course Benteke is going to get sent off - the whole club's future is sitting on his shoulders because he's the only one who can score!!
You saw the frustration in the first half, that's because Lamberk has but it all on him with his "bang it long and leave it to one guy". 
All you have to do to beat Villa is mark our one striker... but now we don't have that. 
Lambert is a disaster and a wretched human being who can't make a goal scorer and buys, horrible, horrible players.

Completely unfair statement. Masons forehead was in his face, looked like it was touching his nose. Mason should have been given a yellow, and perhaps Benteke for reacting but there was nothing in it.

Never want to see Sanchez in a villa shirt again. Ive seen enough of him now to know he isnt good enough. Can't pass. Can't tackle. Makes rash and idiotic decisions. Cost us this match. Cost us the QPR match. Nearly cost us the Hull game as he gave away the free kick that we conceded from. Awful.

Westwood and Cleverly were both totally ineffective yet again and are not good enough at this level.

Only positive was Benteke...until he gets himself stupidly sent off.

Stupid from Benteke but if he'd gone down holding his face after Masons head made contact with his it would have been Spurs down to 10.

 

Of course we couldn't hold on. Like I've said before we aren't a team capable of doing the unexpected.

Ha, what a joke! These players are utter shite. Throwing their toys out at every decision. They should've got on with the game, pressed and not reacted to fouls. 

 

6 defeats in a row.... SIX DEFEATS IN A ROW. But we'll carry on without any changes and hope it will all be fine. Can't keep dicing with relegation and get away with it. Aston Villa...the club who exist and try to stay in the division every year - thats value for money on tickets!

Benteke's little flinch was definitely more dangerous than Chadli's horror challenge. Must be because the latter gets rewarded with a goal.

There's an awful lot of us idiots on here judging by the number of votes deeming the ref very poor.

Even ignoring Benteke's dismissal, Vertonghen and Chadli should of both been off. Hope we lodge a complaint.

It was embarrassing control of the game by Swarbrick that led to the altercation, and both players should have received the same punishment.

The most frustrating thing for me is that we were doing okay and Spurs didn't look like breaking us down. Then Spurs engineer a red card - and that's the right way to see it, I think. Benteke puts his hands in Mason's face, which is a red card by the letter of the law, but Mason was trying to make exactly that happen by leaning in with the head. I think Benteke's red was fair - by the letter of the law - but there were challenges by Spurs players that should have earned them red cards too.

 

I won't blame Baker for their winner, he got hit in the head by the ball. But Sanchez giving away a free kick in that position? Stupid, stupid, stupid.

We would have won the game had it not been for the sending off, which wasn't even a sending off.

 

I have been a big critic of Lambert, but you cannot blame him for a **** stupid ref who should have sent at least Mason and Chadli off and who gave nearly every decision in Spurs favour and the stupid decision to send Benteke off.
