Zatman
we dont seem to have a thread for the endless bizarre stories you here about the game. thought id start with this classic anyway Officials from CSKA Sofia and their rivals Levski became embroiled in a pitchside row as a result of snowballs being thrown. Photograph: YouTube Levski Sofia’s fans have accused the manager of their bitter city rivals CSKA, Stoycho Mladenov, of feigning unconsciousness when he was hit in the head by a snowball during an explosive derby played in a blizzard on Saturday. In the early stages of the tense affair, Mladenov collapsed onto the athletics track surrounding the pitch after being hit by the snowball thrown by Levski supporters, forcing the referee to halt the game for several minutes. After the match, won 3-0 by league leaders CSKA, Mladenov said he lost consciousness and called for authorities to expel Levski from the top division. However, Levski fans, who were lambasted in the local media following the ugly incident, said Mladenov had conducted a theatrical tumble. “Children play with snowballs the whole winter but I haven’t heard of anyone who has collapsed,” Vladimir Vladimirov, the head of Levski’s national fan club, said. “It was disgusting to watch, his overacting was so poor.” Mladenov said on Monday that he had a medical document, proving his injury, and would present it to the Bulgarian Football Union (BFU) if they requested it. “They (Levski fans) began to throw snowballs at us from the start of the game,” CSKA’s assistant, Anatoli Nankov said. “We informed the fourth official but he said that their behaviour was normal.” Levski, 26-times Bulgarian champions and one of the country’s two most popular clubs along with CSKA, have a history of fan violence and racism at their matches, leading to a number of stadium bans and heavy fines in recent years. Earlier this month, Levski were fined 19,000 levs (£7,750) after their fans mocked one of the anti-racism campaigns launched by European governing body Uefa in a Bulgarian league match. Last October, a group Levski fans burst into the manager Ivaylo Petev’s news conference shortly after the start of his unveiling presentation and made him take off the club’s shirt before showing him the exit because they believed he supported CSKA. Levski fans caused more trouble after CSKA’s third goal on Saturday when they broke through fences surrounding the pitch and reached the running track, forcing more than a 100 policemen to prevent them from making their way to the playing surface. “It was a spontaneous act,” Vladimirov said. “Believe me, if we wanted to invade the pitch, no one could’ve stopped us.” The BFU’s disciplinary committee will discuss the snowball incident on Tuesday. Popular Post Jimzk5
Aston Villa have completed the signing of England striker Emile Heskey for £3.5m from Wigan. Talks between the two clubs began on Thursday and the 31-year-old passed a medical before signing a three-and-a-half year deal with Villa. Heskey earned his reputation under Villa manager Martin O'Neill during their time at Leicester City. "He has been a brilliant player for a number of years and this is great news," said O'Neill. Heskey also becomes Villa's first signing in the January transfer window and should make his debut in Tuesday's Premier League match at Portsmouth.

TrentVilla Posted October 29, 2014 Moderator Share Posted October 29, 2014 A footballer has died after a celebration went tragically wrong in India's Mizoram Premier League. Peter Biaksangzuala died in hospital on Sunday after falling on his head while attempting a somersault after scoring for Bethlehem Vengthlang FC - a club based in the north east Indian province of Mizoram. The 23-year-old midfielder scored a 62nd-minute equaliser against Chanmari West FC in Tuesday's league encounter and celebrated acrobatically - in a manner similar to record World Cup goalscorer Miroslav Klose. Jimzk5
mark Clattenburg given a 1 match ban for leaving ground early to go see Ed Sheeran Didn't leave the ground early, he didn't use the coach that match officials should use, apparently its to for security & a show of unity that all match officials get to and from the ground together He also had a private conversation over the phone after with Warnock after the palace game, which is also against the rules. All match officials must be present when talking to managers after a game

Guest av1
A Switzerland-based amateur footballer has been banned for 50 years after kicking a ball in the referee's face and spraying him with water. Portugal Futebol Clube defender Ricardo Ferreira has already served a 45-game ban for assaulting opposition players. "I had expected one or two years maximum. But 50 years? Football's my life," Ferreira, 28, said. The fourth-tier league's lawyer Robert Breiter said: "We do not want such a player in our league." Speaking to Swiss newspaper Blick (in German), Breiter continued: "Unfortunately we encounter such cases about once a year." Ferreira had been an unused substitute in his team's match against SC Worb in the Bern league when he attacked the referee after the final whistle. Ferreira will be free to return to footballing activity on 5 June 2064, by which time he will be 78. chappy
They won't be bidding for Nathan Baker any time soonThe chairman of the Turkish club Genclerbirligi has declared war on beards, opting to issue hefty fines to any of his side’s players sporting the facial hair and claiming some footballers look like students at imam-training schools. Ilhan Cavcav plans to fine any Genclerbirligi players 25,000 Turkish Liras (£7,150) who contravene his new law, citing the Besiktas manager, Slaven Bilic, the Besiktas midfielder Olcay Sahan, the Fenerbahce goalkeeper Volkan Demirel and the Galatasaray midfielder Selcuk Inan as bad influences. “I am 80 years old, and I shave every single day … Man, is this an imam-hatip school? You are a sportsman. You should be a model for the youth,” Cavcav, who has a moustache himself, told the Dogan news agency. Cavcav has also unsuccessfully attempted to convince the chairman of the Turkish Football Federation, Yildirim Demiroren, to adopt a nationwide beard ban for footballers but vowed to lobby other clubs to join him in taking a stance. “He [Demiroren] told me that they could not impose such a restriction because Uefa would not let them do it. I am fed up with this Uefa. I wish we had some other place to play our football.” Cavcav is not the first to take action against players’ appearances – the former Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Redondo famously missed the 1998 World Cup because the then Argentina manager Daniel Passarella reportedly refused to pick him unless he cut his hair shorter.
