OutByEaster? Posted September 27, 2014 Moderator Share Posted September 27, 2014 That was erm...okay. We've kept it to one, which isn't an unfair reflection of play and we're not quite out of it. We've got a punchers chance.
Davkaus
Wouldn't mind holding them to 1-0. They're significantly better man for man in every area of the pitch, but we've looked ok. The important thing in this is avoiding another massive blow to confidence after the 3 minute implosion last week.
Biskitt
The cost of Chelsea's starting X1 is outrageous. Individually, each of their 6 midfield and forward players cost more than our entire first 11. Course there's going to be a gulf in quality. Still in it though
supernova26
Not bad but why do we keep crossing it when it forward positions? Who are we expecting to get on the end of it? We end up giving the ball away everytime we do this!
VillanousOne
We don't look like scoring, and giving away possession for no good reason is costing us. Why is Guzan hoofing it straight back to them? Gabby is so isolated up front, I know Weimann is working hard but he's not playing in attack. CrackpotForeigner
Be nice if we could keep the ball for longer than two seconds after a goal kick. Guzan's distribution hasn't been too good.
The_Steve
I don't think we've been all that bad. Organised if a little wasteful in possession when going forward. We are still in the game. Despite the gulf in squads we are doing well enough.
P3te
Be nice if we could keep the ball for longer than two seconds after a goal kick. Guzan's distribution hasn't been too good. I pointed out a few issues with Guzan's distribution and use of the ball after the Liverpool game and got slated for it. Are we now allowed to talk about it because we're not winning? CrackpotForeigner
Gabby's holdup play isn't his strength at all, is it?
Villain4Life
If we can keep the deficit at one, maybe there'll be a chance to steal a point. Annoyingly sloppy and lucky goal for Chelsea, but *sighs* so is that. Despite the above, I think we've defended well.
dnmacf
Not played badly considering the opponents. It's a fine line between committing men forward to our breaks and leaving ourselves open at the back though. Got to take our chances when they come but once they've gone, reset very quickly. Takes a lot of energy. Hope we can give it a go second half and remain solid.
dAVe80
Even at 1-0 down and conceding a lot of possession, I'm relatively happy with the first half. Kept our shape well and looked disciplined. Need to find a way of getting people forward quicker to help out Gabby. Maybe bring on N'Zogbia for Richardson to show a bit more attacking intent. Raymond
I think we have been okay. If we can raise the level a bit in the second half there is a point in it.

Fine by me, it's been reliably appalling in this game at least.
Wainy316
I just don't see how we're ever going to score. Ever!
Vive_La_Villa
Biggest difference for me is our lack of patience. If Chelsea have nothing on they pass and pass until they see an opening. We get so far forward then feel the need to swing the ball aimlessly in to the box. Just keep the bloody ball!

Despite the gulf in squads we are doing well enough. We're very much sticking to the tried and tested "build your team from the back forward" this season. The organization is light years ahead of what we've seen pretty much at any time in the last decade. Yes, we're not creating chances all that much, BUT teams aren't tearing us apart any more. If we continue to play like this for the remainder of the season, we should have no problem beating the non top 7 teams more often than not
