smetrov
I am always more of a Villa fan than a football fan - for me Villa V Doncaster (for example) is must see where as Everton V Chelsea I wouldn't give the time of day to. - Anyway my point is - other than my love for Aston Villa prem football is a pretty poor product - A top 4 team typically go 2 -0 up, then shut up shop - The bottom half of the league go to most away matches to shut up shop and are happy with point. Not in terms of technical excellence - but in terms of sheer entertainment is championship football better ...I reckon it is....more goals....no real dominant clubs ....all IMO of course.... No, it's not. It's more competitive as a league, but the standard of football is markedly lower.
lapal_fan
That's not what he's saying though is it? He's saying, he knows it's not the same standard, but you're more likely to see a more entertaining game. I suppose he means there's going to be more shocks etc.

But what I'm saying is a lower standard of football, for me, makes it less entertaining. I could go and watch a load of games that finish 11-4 at the local park on a Sunday morning. But that for me isn't as entertaining as watching football at the highest level.
Zatman
games in the premier league are competitive but mainly this only happens when its teams from 7-20th playing each other. the other games can be boring especially e.g Chelsea vs Palace at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea score 1st goal
smetrov
If you consider often the first 15 minutes are often spent probing each other out - come 60 - 65 minutes played the team in the ascendancy try to shut up shop - and then the blatant time wasting in the last 5 minutes - how much of a game of we getting ? I think prem football is pretty boring - its gotten like the champs league of a few years back.
lapal_fan
The WC was entertaining. Everyone just attacked like loons, apart from Greece
kurtsimonw
I'm pretty much with Stevo. Some make the debate for a top foreign league being better (which I don't agree with at all) (sorry donnie), but for a lower tier English league? Not even close. As Stevo said, the Premier League is clearly, and obviously, of a much higher quality than the Championship. As for competitiveness, well Burnley and Leicester lost less games than the top 2 in the Premier League last season, despite playing a total of 16 games more. So the competitiveness at the top end is worse, there's pretty much always stand out teams and the same type of names usually make it to the top. If quality isn't an issue, then to find the "best" league in terms of competitiveness you'll have to look much further down the footballing ladder.
