FourFourTwo had a cover story about 4 years ago when Wolves were promoted to the Premiership the last time about Plant being a huge Wolves fan.

Yes, Bob is definitely a Wolves fan 100%.

Eric Clapton is a boggie.

I'd say Wolves are the next biggest club although currently WBA are closer to the finished article. It ebbs and flows between those 2 but I'd say overall, Wolves are a larger outfit. Noses are nowhere although they do have the potential to be bigger than everyone barring us.

can't agree with the 1st bit there Bri, but definitely can with the highlighted bit.

history, whilst important, is just that in the garnd scheme of things: history.

SHA don't have a history as such, but as Bri says, they have the potential, and are back in the premiership again.

Wolves maybe run thema close-ish 3rd.

But SHA have been out of the premiership once in what? 3 or 4 years? :?:

So at this particular moment in time, how people can't have SHA as 2nd in the pecking order is beyone me, unless you are approaching from a biased POV that is.

EDIT: sorry - misread initial post as it referrs to "Biggest Clubs" rather than current pecking order, which are 2 very different things.

SHA are still up there with the best of the rest though, IMO, albeit quite a way behind us.

Us, then "who cares?"

Thats probably the most true answer.

Villa have won the most things, consistently finished higher in the league, have more fans, higher media profile (etc etc)

After that? Wolves, West Brom, the Blues and Coventry would all claim to be on a par.

All get similar gates. Wolves and West Brom have more successful histories, the Blues have a high media profile (though this is probably more to do with their manager being ex Man Utd, chief executive being female and chairman being a self publicising porn monger than anything they have ever done on the pitch) and Coventry were the last side to win anything of note and will point to a 33 year stay in the top flight.

Walsall clearly are the little club.

So Villa > no one really knows or cares > Walsall.

Wolves are the only club that have ever been bigger than the Villa at a point in history, so them.

Followed by the Bootleg Blose (WBA), Coventry (by virtue of 1987).

Joint last are Walsall and Blose, because neither have a history.

That would be my order and reasoning as well

I think it is slightly naïve to think Walsall and the Blose are the same size. One is in the Premiership for the 2nd time in 3 years and have the potential to be a bigger 'current' club than the others. And the other is Walsall.

For me it would be:

West Brom - Traditional rivals, have won trophies of some standing, local and loyal fanbase, large, modern looking stadium.

Wolves - Traditional rivals, have won trophies (albeit less than West Brom) of some standing, local and loyal fanbase, large but slightly shabby stadium.

Bluenose words removed - Not traditional rivals but hate us due to jealousy, bitterness and geographical location, no history but large fanbase due to woodwork crawlers, propped up by a local media who cum all over them, shabby stadium but support from local council to get better one for free.

Coventry - See above.

Walsall - bless their cotton socks.

This is why I started this thread, because although I have some vague knowledge that Wolves were once a big club, for somone of my generation West Brom seems the bigger club, due to their exploits during the eighties, and more recently, slightly more prem exp. However my major aim was to demonstrate how Villa's stock came to be so low around the country. If I don't know, or don't care to know about the proud history of a club so close to my doorstep, how can I expect fans around the country to respect my clubs illustrious past. Particularly Geordies and scousers who genuinely seem to believe that they invented football!

This is not true, West brom have 1 league title , 5 fa cups and 1 league cup in comparison to Wolves 3 titles, 4 FA Cups and 2 League cups
