Popular Post Genie
Ah yes, I remember this period in the international calendar well. Where 'token' players are called up from the less fashionable sides in a kind of "look we're trying something new and everybody has a chance of being a part of the England setup" then as time goes by we'll approach the next major tournament and revert back to the tried and tested method of only playing players from the big 4/5 sides who aren't that good, don't work as a unit and don't give a crap and we'll bomb straight out at the group stage. Can't wait.
B94villa
As if the captain was ever going to be someone other than Rooney. Would be nice if England managers finally realised that pandering to overpaid underachievers doesn't actually keep the fans happy, although no doubt the sponsors and the media are creaming themselves. Milfner
Midfield is terribly weak. Surely Milner will finally get a run of games in the middle now.
coda
Might actually watch these games if our very Fabian starts.

Zatman
thats probably the weakest England squad I have seen since probably before World Cup 94, the Carlton Palmer era
The_Steve
No Glen Johnson at least.
theboyangel
Rooney as captain absolute joke... haven't really been inspired to get behind Engerland for a long while now (probably Sven was the last time) How can a player, who hasn't performed in an England shirt since 2004, have lots of baggage both on and off field and barely understandable be selected as Captain??? Paddywhack
thats probably the weakest England squad I have seen since probably before World Cup 94, the Carlton Palmer era Was just about to say the same thing. More to do with the players available to Hodgson rather than his selection though. It's hard to believe now that players like Ian Wright, Merson, Le Tissier, Andy Cole, Fowler, etc, struggled to get regular games. They'd walk into this squad. villarule123 Posted August 28, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted August 28, 2014 Delph isn't good enough for England. When he learns how to pass, maybe so.
Wainy316
Congrats Fabian, hopefully he plays and boosts our 'most England internationals' stat.
kurtsimonw
Don't mind Rooney being captain. 11 year England International, always puts the effort in even if things don't always happen for him. Still has a fantastic scoring record, though.

The_Steve
I'd go with Joe Hart for captain. Rooney is far too inconsistent for it. He's done nothing of note for England in ages. Hart can lead from the back.

mikeyp102
Milfner - I doubt it...Don't thin khe plays that role for city and so Woy wont move him, even though we all know that he is better there.
