chappy
I imagine they are mid to high B grades but not entirely sure
Stevo985 Posted August 21, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted August 21, 2014 That mark is probably a percentage of the scaled mark. As according to the website the maximums scaled mark is 60 for biology, so it can't be the scaled mark itself. If it's percentage then it's 80 for an A. So pretty close! I wouldn't take my word for it though
Davkaus
You need to work out the raw mark from the UMS for each subject here. Select (convert multiple marks, not single marks, as multiple marks will show you the full table). Then this page shows you the grade boundaries for the raw scores. CarewsEyebrowDesigner
I wouldn't worry too much about GCSE results unless the kid wants into one of the elite universities, or if they want to do the sciences at A level and schools have internal standards e.g. an A at GCSE Biology to study it further. Davkaus
OK - Thanks .....what are those scores I quoted ? - are those the RAW marks ? No, they're the UMS marks. Convert them to the raw marks, then look at my second link to see how the raw marks sit in the grade boundaries.

chappy
Unis should be more interested in personal statement and predicted A Level grades. Which unis Is he looking at? May be worth asking his teachers if they think a re-mark is worth it, may depend on grades across the school/country.
StefanAVFC
Not a clue. We get them to be able to hold a pencil and then we're done.
CarewsEyebrowDesigner
Showing an active interest in the university course they want to do will have a bigger impact than GCSE results (unless said results are shite, which they aren't).

[it doesn't affect his choice of A levels - but may effect his uni choices] If they are borderline then sometimes the teachers will be happy to do it. I was 1 mark off a grade in 2 subjects and both were sent for re-marking without even having to be asked. One was changed so I got a better grade, the other stayed the same. ismail-villa
I was one off an A in biology at AS, so my school have sent it to be remarked, thankfully they're paying as it's bloody expensive!
