Rob182 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Based on not being able to lose a match if the other team can't score, Blue Whale. I imagine they'd get knocked out in the group stage, on 'goals scored'.

adw95 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Polar Bears, Pandas, and Baboons could cause first round upsets...
ArteSuave Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Easy first round for the Kangaroos IMO. Honey badgers are 1 foot tall and can't jump.

Rob182 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Are Cheetahs available? I'm all about pace. Their 'Pace without the ball' stat is far, far greater than their 'Pace with the ball' stat, considering that they can't touch the ball with their front legs.

Does that mean Cheetahs and other animals that would be on all fours have to basically back heel the ball.
Popular Post mjmooney Posted August 11, 2014 VT Supporter Popular Post Posted August 11, 2014 (edited) My predictions: Chimps v Polar Bears - Tough one to call, this, chimps' manouevrability vs polar bears' brute strength. I can see sendings off. Score draw, extra time and bears to take it on penalties. Cheetahs v Dolphins - Attractive draw, featuring two of the glamour teams of the tournament. The cheetahs' speed should see them through in a closely fought contest. Home win. Kodiak Bears v Zebras - You have to feel sorry for the zebras here, they'll be heading home in the first round. Comfortable home win for the kodiaks. Kangaros v Honeybadgers - Anything could happen here, but the tough tackling of the early tournament favourites honeybadgers should be enough to see off the bouncers. Away win. Gorillas v Dogs - Can't see the canines getting anything out of this one. Home win. Humans v Baboons - Intriguing. The humans' football experience will give them the edge, but the sheer strength of the baboons means they are no pushover. Score draw, human win a.e.t. Ostriches v Elephants - Another mismatch, with the lumbering elephants up against the speed and strength of the ostriches. Home win. Albatrosses v Pandas - Can't see where the goals are coming from here. Pandas to take it on penalties after a goalless bore draw. Edited August 11, 2014 by mjmooney 5
Shillzz Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 I'm half expecting the Zebras to be dark horses. That's incredibly clever, there aren't many scenarios where you could use that quite so effectively. Bravo, sir. 2

A huge disadvantage to the all-four teams, imo.
Popular Post Stevo985 Posted August 11, 2014 Author VT Supporter Popular Post Posted August 11, 2014 OPENING CEREMONY Gary Lioneker: You join us here in (unspecific) Africa on a beautiful evening where we are mere moments away from the opening ceremony of the inaugural SIFF World Cup. Martin Tiger: That's right Gary. For months the world has been waiting for the answer to the ultimate question and now, it's finally here.... ... and it's LIVE! GL: And we're underway here. The competitors are filing into the stadium MT: Some of the unlucky teams knocked out in the qualifiers also being represented as we see the Giraffes, controversial losers to the Honeybadgers in the preliminaries, trudging into the ceremony. GL: And now the African hosts will entertain us with some local dances and entertainment. MT: Incredible choreography. I wonder how many animal hours went into this display GL: The home favourite, the Zebras, getting involved. The crowd is going wild. The atmosphere is electric here! MT: And what a cutie. The local schools doing their part with the volunteers. GL: Oh that is quite superb! An incredible display from the hosts to welcome us to what is sure to be an incredible tournament. MT: And now, the traditional presentation of the SIFF World Cup Mascot GL: And the crowd love this! Beautiful MT: Look at that emotion. Unparalleled passion on show GL: And what a beautiful mascot it is MT: A superb display of animal-kind's co-operation and endeavour. GL: A fitting way to start this competition. MT: Let's hope the football lives up to this! GL: Well that's it from us folks. Join us tomorrow for our first live game where we'll see the Chimps take on the Polar Bears in a mouth watering affair. MT: AND IT'S LIVE!!!! GL: *sigh* yes Martin. It's live. 11
mjmooney Posted August 11, 2014 VT Supporter Posted August 11, 2014 Apparently it's kicking off in downtown bars. Two baboon fans reportedly hospitalised, and police making several arrests among the honeybadger supporters. I hope this isn't going to spoil things after that impressive opening ceremony. 1
Stevo985 Posted August 11, 2014 Author VT Supporter Posted August 11, 2014 Two matches tomorrow: Chimps vs Polar Bears and Cheetahs vs Dolphins I'll put up polls once we've had a bit of a debate. My opinion is that Chimps vs Polar bears is hard to call. Both big and strong, both able to stand on hind legs, both quick. Ultimately, I think that, whilst polar bears are quick, they wouldn't have much acceleration, and they'd lack agility and movement. This, coupled with the Chimps similarity to humans and their undoubtedly brilliant goalkeeper would swing it in their favour. And a walkover for the Cheetahs. Rules don't change, so the game is played on grass. Dolphins are next to useless. 1

Rob182 Posted August 11, 2014 Posted August 11, 2014 Despite the Dolphins being the favourites to leave the competition first, I'm hoping Howard (spider)Webb gives them a chance, by being strict on the Cheetahs and their cheating ways. "HANDBALL!!!!" 1
Popular Post tonyh29 Posted August 11, 2014 Popular Post Posted August 11, 2014 does team panda included a mixture of red and giant not that it makes a lot of difference as the red ones will just sleep anyway however i should be manager of team panda as i have experience in this area , indeed here was last seasons team photo , alas Liverpool had raided our club following a successful season and I only had 1 player left 6
