villarule123 Posted December 14, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 14, 2017 Empire will never be topped. It's perfection. Going tonight at 8. Can't wait!
villa4europe
nope hoth, the AT-ATs, yoda, BF, the character development, the twist, the ending, the best line in any film ever... it doesnt even suffer as badly as the other 2 films with horribly outdated lightsaber duels its my favourite film of all time
villarule123 Posted December 14, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 14, 2017 Everytime I think of doing a SW rewatch, I just end up thinking 'nah **** it, let's just watch Empire Strikes Back'
Tayls
ROTJ is the best so far in my opinion. Easily beats ESB. I’d even go as far as to say ANH is in second place. I like ESB, but it’s nowhere near my favourite. On a nerdy side note, I’ve started collecting vintage Star Wars figures again - so if anyone has any that they fancy shifting, let me know! I’ve started collecting vintage Star Wars figures again oh right... george lucas approves! in all seriousness though i like ROTJ, even if they rehashed the death star plot, the speeder bikes and the new troopers were cool, the jabba stuff is great, they just completely lost the plot with the ewoks, after the darkness of ESB they went and made a horrible kids cash in film with a pretty poor disjointed final third
stewiek2
I thought that Jedi was essentially a two-act film? Roland Emmerich and Dean Devlin admitted they drew on ROTJ heavily when writing ID4.

dAVe80
Sadly, my mate's (who I saw Force Awakens and Rouge One with) father passed away very recently, so I was a bit in the air as to when I was going to go see it. I've booked a ticket for tomorrow, and am going to take my mate when he feels up for it. Hope it's good, and brings him a bit of cheer at such a shit time. I could just sit and watch any one of them and be perfectly happy - particularly with 4/5/6. Can’t wait to watch the new one tomorrow!

maqroll
Just back from Last Jedi. Superb. The best photography of any of them, and a tighter script than any of them since Empire. A few too many corny jokes, but nothing to get annoyed with. I'm old enough to have seen them all in a cinema, but this is the first one since Empire where found myself really anticipating what happens in the next installment.
villan-scott Posted December 15, 2017 VT Supporter Share Posted December 15, 2017 I watched Rogue One again last night, I’m watching The Force Awakens tomorrow night and then off to the cinema Sunday to watch The Last Jedi. Can’t wait. Not read a single thing to avoid spoilers, all I know is it’s meant to be awesome.

Wainy316
Saw it last night. Don't read this unless you've seen... Really enjoyed it and it definitely lived up to expectations. Love how they swerved us with Rey's parents actually being nobodies and Snoke turning out to just be a small cog in the wheel. Leia dying in the first 20 minutes then not. Although the scene showing her survival was a bit odd, Luke just tossing the light-sabre over his head after a two year wait was amusing. Using an actual puppet for Yoda rather than CGI was a cool touch. Loved the twist with Luke not actually being there and channelling the force. Gave us a few heart in mouth moments thinking he had died. Then... ...they go and kill him anyway! WTF! The whole symbolic two sun death may have been a good way to end the third one, but him dying after all that put a bit of a dampener on it for me. Looks like they were relying on Leia to be the old face carrying it in episode 9 but they've hit an obvious snag there. I imagine they'll be calling on Mark Hamill for force ghost duties now.
Ingram85
It was ok, bit weird imo. The humour was overkill and some attempted gags were just weird and out of sorts, the pacing was all over the shop and the casino bit was just strange. It did a lot right but overall it lacked something that I can’t put my finger on. I think there are too many characters personally with too many side stories to fit in so it all feels too rushed with no room to breathe. Not awful by any means but it wasn’t great either. I can’t explain it very well to be honest. Just disappointed I didn’t like it as much as I had hoped.
