Is our team really that bad?

All the squad needs to do is stop giving up once they go a goal up. Maybe when you're two up you can sit back for a bit but when it's only one it's inevitable that the other team is going to score.

This...but also :

2 fullbacks that can defend.

1 CB who can defend.

2 Midfielders who can tackle, get about the pitch and have composure on the ball.

1 Midfielder who can create, pass over 5 yards and bag a goal.

Two wingers/forwards who can score and create a goal.

We only need 8 players.

...and a manager with tactical nous who can organize the team

I think the problem is its hard to know what is the biggest issue, the players ability or the ability of the manager to get the best out of them.

It could be the second option, but getting the best out of players was what sort of defined lambert at Norwich.

And us at the end of 2012-2013 !

Depends how you class bad and what you expect from the club. The squad is lower premier league upper championship level which for a team with higher expectations would be bad.

For us ? Not so bad

i don't think our current squad is that bad.

assuming no-one left or came in during the summer, next season we'd be a mid-lower premier league team again.

we'd probably finish between 12-15th.

which in worst case, there would be 14 better teams and 5 worse teams than us.

in best case, there would be 11 better teams and 8 worse teams than us.

2-3 decent additions (£5m+ each player) and 10th would be possible.

Think that depends on what other teams do and how they spend their increased money while we keep costs to a minimum. We may have to bring in 3 quality players to just stand still.

We all thought 10th was possible this season. How wrong we were.

Haha! Yeah, we were nowhere near 10th at any point this season were we....?

Oh... right.

We started 2nd and won our first game so I guess we can say winning the title was a possibility.

Our form over the 2nd half of the season shows it was never going to happen.

I don't know if that was wrong. Villa were 10th as recently as March, right? Seems like it was possible.

yes, we were 10th-11th in March, and had been coasting mid-table for the first 6-7 months of the league.

If we had continued our August-Feb form, we would have comfortably finished 10th/11th.

The last 2.5 months were a shocker though.

If we had Okore, Kozak and Benteke for 90% of the games this season we'd have been in 10-12th position. Also if we hadn't had the incidents with Culverhouse either.

People forget where we all were after we beat Chelsea. Positivity everywhere.

Guzan

Vlaar

Benteke

Delph

Westwood

are all good enough players for midtable or higher

potentially Kozak, Okore, Lowton and Weimann who are still unproven or have had bad 2nd seasons, also throw in KEA, Bacuna, Agbonlahor who are capable of good performances and potential youngsters like elenius, Grealish and Carruthers and you could say we aren't really that bad a squad IF they all stay fit
