hopefully we dont make same mistake we did with Cahill

We didn't make a mistake, Martin did.

Everyone at this club knew it was wrong.

I will never forget being on the old 606 message boards, the Burnley fans were convinced that he would play for England...

Weird that Martin was the only one that didn't realise how good Cahill was. Anyway good news the lad has signed for us.

Why do our players always get linked with these bigger clubs and then they actually turn out to be average?

We managed to "fight off interest" from inter for gary gardener. Grealish lined with Chelsea now this guy's wanted by bayern apparently.

Bet bayern have never even heard of him

It was similar with Jordan Graham as well with Man Utd supposedly after him

Yeah bit far fetched to think Bayern would scout in England.

Daniel Crowley.

thats it.

Have a feeling that's one we'll really wish we'd have kept.

Yep, been lots of articles lately from rag newspapers about how he is the next best thing and should be making his Arsenal debut soon, and what a good job Arsenal are doing with him etc.

Just wish the rules would change and we got millions in compensation for a talent like that rather than a measly initial £200k which we got for Crowley

Did we have any choice in the matter? Thought it was totally out of the club's hands, but I may be wrong.

You're not wrong. The club bust a bollock trying to keep hold of him. Can't say I blame the lad for going either, word on the street is he's good enough.

I have literally zero faith in our youth system.

Good luck to the lad and all that, but if he makes the grade here, then he won't have had to pull up any trees.

Let's face it, if all these top European clubs had been after him, he wouldn't be here. Neither would Clark, baker, Gardner etc. Low n behold, they are all shite.

He's officially signed scholarship forms at the club, he's the best 16 year old in the country, we've pulled off a coup here

It's official: he's dogshit ;)

Seriously though, you said after this post that it was difficult to compare him with Crowley in terms of who is the best due to different positions played.

Yet here you say he's the best 16 year old in the country. Surely there are other 16 year olds who play different positions, making it as equally difficult to compare.

There's also no doubt 16 year olds you don't no exist.

Just more 'wild' nonsense claims!!

Because whereas we have a great youth setup, the issues lie with our inability to effectively implement them in the first team. In recent years a large portion of that can be blamed on our poor league position and lack of cup runs so we rarely take the risk of blooding youth team players for experience. Lambert has to take some blame too, because sticking with first team players when they do absolutely sweet FA, or putting on players like Jordan 'shitting' Bowery on the pitch, instead of giving players like Gardner, Grealish and Robinson a chance means that not only do the young players not get valuable experience and they get frustrated (re: Jack's Twitter "outburst", which was a bit silly on his part), but it also makes the first team players complacent and big headed and they don't have the impetus to want to improve.

Do our youth team players do the same training and play the same formations as our first team? They really should, it'd make the transition so much smoother.
