Who realistically should be the next villa manager?

He's not the same man that left Everton. He's on an all time confidence low and that's not what we need leading us right now.

Depending on if we get new owners and how much they're chucking around, I wouldn't be at all disappointed in Moyes.  He'll be hurting now for sure, but have no doubt, he'll be back at another decent club in the summer, and I wouldn't be too distraught if it was us.  As for low confidence, weren't you one of the people suggesting that Lambert gets another few months?  His confidence must be in absolute tatters.  Two shit seasons in a row, his two coaches sacked as we limp towards the end of another dismal season.

If people are talking about a new philosophy what about Dragan Stojković? Wenger had him down as his replacement because they have very similar footballing ideals would be a risk I guess because he's only coached in Japan as far as I know.

people were saying they would love moyes before he went united. now people dont wnat him go figure

would be a great appointment for us i think

I want a change, new coaching methods and ideas, not more of the same.

Yup.

If we're going to have a change of ownership, I'd like a change of manager to bring a change of footballing philosophy, to bring up up to date with the modern game.

Moyes' football is just dull and very "British".  Don't get me wrong, I think Moyes would be a good fit for us, he would probably have us up to 8th in a couple of seasons. But why not try something a bit different instead of the same old British style football.

I don't think Lambert plays negative football through choice at all. Some of the highest quality goals I've seen Villa score have been under him. Martin O'Neill, Gerard Houllier and McLeish don't even come close to the counter attacking, movement of the ball and pure ambition of some of the goals we've managed despite being in poor league positions on tight budgets!

To name a few Weimann's at Liverpool last season to go 2-0 up, the build up play with Benteke is world class. Lowton's against Stoke last season. Benteke's against Norwich this season. Stuff out of the Champions League from players who were unheard of at the beginning of last season.

We have scored some good goals like Bacuna's against Norwich. I wouldn't say they were any higher quality than the goals under previous managers though. We scored some brilliant goals from 07-09. Whether that was because we could only dream of those sorts of players at the moment (bar Benteke).

Jageika, Pienaar, Coleman, Fellaini (he was class for Everton), Distin, Lescott, Neville, Arteta, Cahill.

Even players like Gravesen, Carsley, Yakubu (even though his fee was stupid) did a good job for them.

Ha! Completely forgotten about Gravesen. We could do with him in our side!

Thomas Gravesen invested his money really well when he finished playing.

He now lives in Vegas with a pornstar and is worth over £100m!!!

Mental stuff

How can people be that negative about the style Moyes plays? Honestly couldn't care less if we won games 1-0 and played boring football. The most important thing is getting away from another season in the relegation mix. Moyes would improve our home form, make us hard to beat and has a proven track record when signing players on a small budget. The games about winning. If you want to watch nice football but get relegated be a Wigan fan.

That doesn't matter, with Moyes in charge the best we can hope for is mid table. Are we as Aston Villa fans, the biggest club from Englands second largest city, with one of the best facilities in the league, happy with that. No.

I'd rather play nice football and finish 14th than play s*** football and finish 10th.

Wigans boss? (Forgot name)

Jesus fella at benfica? (Mint owners needed)

Not moyes. Not cause of the last 12 months but Everton mates of mine said he was great for them. Really was. But they were dull and he spunked a lot of money of gash players.

Baines, Marillas and Howard being the only 'top' players he signed.

So no Cahill, Fellaini, Distin or Coleman then?

Gravesen, Arteta, Lescott, Jagielka, Yakubu, Pienaar, Jelavic.....none of them either?

Just Baines, Mirrallas and Howard? Okay, sure.

"Best we can hope for is mid-table".............just as he did with Everton right? Because they were just a mid-table team?

That was a different time. The top 6 now is much stronger and teams like Liverpool and Everton has taken it into the next level. Moyes didn't manage to get into the top 4 with Man Utd, that says it all really.

I guess it depends how you watch football really.

Some people watch football just to see their team win. They don't care how they do it as long as they win

Others watch football to be entertained. Which wouldn't be Moyes' style.

A different time??

less then 12 months ago, reality check time i think......

Everton have moved into the next level now because they have a good manager, Moyes is an average manager.  Top 6 have evolved, which resulted in Moyes not even getting top 6 with Man Utd. Then i ask you, if Moyes can't make it into top 6 with Man Utd, how the f*** is he going to achieve that with us? Theres no way he is going to get us even near the likes of Liverpool, Man City, Arsenal, Man Utd, Chelsea, Everton and Spurs and Southampton.

I want to look forward to my team play, i want to be proud of my team. For the last couple of years that has not been the case. I'm not excited seeing Villa atm and that's a shame. I will always watch Villa because i love the club so that won't change, but i want us to play modern football and adapt to it.

I want to be entertained don't get me wrong, but for now i'd just enjoy a few seasons of not losing over half our home games.

Lowton's against Stoke last season. Benteke's against Norwich this season.

What have either of those fantastic goals got to do with Lambert's depressing style of play ?

They were just goals of individual brilliance.

Jeezus man, I'd love to spend a few weeks in your world seriously.

Black and white, nothing in between not even room for discussion.

The top 6 hasn't evolved greatly overnight, granted Liverpool have surpassed expectations but other than that it's the same top 7 clubs so I do not believe for a second that the evolution of the top 6 has excluded any chance Moyes might have of ever finishing there.

Whoever took the United job, in my opinion would have done extremely well not to fail, admittedly Moyes has quite spectacularly failed but Ferguson is no mug in retiring when he did, he knew himself that it would take a serious rebuild to maintain the United standards and I'm assuming that at his age he thought better of it, has the past 8 months all of a sudden turned Moyes into a piss poor manager as you would have us believe? No it hasn't, and that is pretty much a fact.

Football is football, the dynamics change every now and again but it's essentially the same shit year on year, Moyes took over Everton at a time when they were skirting with relegation and with **** all money in the bank - sound familiar? He transformed them into a side that regularly challenged for the top 6 even finishing fourth on one occasion, for years whenever we've been looking for a Manager he's somewhat universally lauded as someone who would be a great fit for us and yet now, after all the Sky Sports fanfare over his departure he's suddenly shit? Bollocks.

I have to say i disagree with you. I do honestly believe top 6 is much stronger now and i think Moyes desperately tried to adapt to the modern football in United, but he obviously failed. Just look at how Southampton and Everton play, the football is changing and there is no room in the top 6 for teams that plays negative football, the current table is a proof of that.
