It has to be said, some of our fans are absolute rocket polishers of the highest order. We're 4-1 up and what do some of our fans want to do? Abuse our OWN player Grant Holt by singing a variety of disgraceful and embarrassing songs alluding to the theory that he is fat. I hope to god he didn't hear any of these chants.

Let's get one thing straight:

GRANT HOLT IS NOT EVEN FAT!!!

If Grant Holt is fat then 90% of the UK must be obese.

Thick morons. You're better off down the Blues if you have that mentality...

It's **** cringe-worthy.

Do you think he's in the kind of shape now? He looks fat. And can barely control a football.

Was Carew at the game ? The Holte were singing John Carew Carew He's bigger than me and you, at one point

No. He's in Spain playing golf.

But he was on the BBC yesterday (Football Focus I think) and seems to be getting some exposure over here at the moment so I'm guessing it was just a result of that

We played well for 25 minutes, and that was largely when we were playing it on the floor as opposed to the first 15 minutes when we were hoofing it up for Benteke to head on to nobody.

Bacuna showed that he can still be a goal threat even from full back, I think he needs to specialise in that position rather than midfield.

Great win, but I'm not convinced that it is a turning point.

Very shaky start, and I thought `here we go again', but Benteke turned it, and for the remainder of the first half we were very good.

And I, like many posters on here, cannot help but wonder why they cannot play like that more often.

Job was done at half time and second half was about controlling them and allowing the game to fizzle out.

I have to pick out Benteke as MOM, but I thought the entire team played well.

Good to see Benteke with fire and finishing. Before then, it seemed that he checked back into the midfield much more than he had.... He played with his feet and then made runs at the defenders. Clearly his first goal was not a run at the defender, but I wonder if checking back more, and making runs more didnt make him harder to mark / double team and get his head into it a bit.

Not too upset that we let off the gas a bit in second half. Don't want them too angry to sell hoolahan to us, at a good price, when they go down.

Well that was great fun.

Just wish we'd hurry up bringing in safe standing for some choice of who one gets stuck with - at least on here people only moan at their keyboards it does my head in when it is during the game...........

Clear as day that when we just play we are a decent footballing side, but for some reason - likely nerves and confidence - we too often lump it up to CB.

As soon as we had a little confidence we were away, and the same type of thing  - without necessarily as good outcomes- has happened quite a lot this season.

Thought KEA had his best perfromance at VP today.

Great 3 points at a much needed time. Thank god we have Benteke. Once we took the lead we actually controlled the game and saw it out which was all we needed to do. Shame we have big teams next but you never know. Hope lambert doesn't mess about with the team now and plays the same team again.

Totally agree with all have that. Very good point made about when we play we play well. It's must be down to nerves and confidence like u say.

a few lads round me were singing it. To be honest we are one of the most cringe worthy fans around. Absolute terrible atmosphere again today even though we won 4.1. Can't stand the holte end anymore

I really liked our third goal - what made it unusual was that every player involved made the right choice - KEA stopped and picked a pass to Gabby rather than hoofing a clearance - Gabby turned and got people into a foot race before releasing the ball at the right moment - Weimann resisted the temptation to take it on and try and score and found Bacuna. Bacuna didn't hit it first time, but took it inside and opened up the goal. Four good decisions in a row, plus the technical ability to carry them out, I think that's a bit special.

Yes, same here. It reminded me of the Delph goal against Rotherham, it just looked so slick, a well oiled machine.

I expected KEA not to panic in the box and bring it out well. He did.

I expected Gabby to release it to Benteke, pushing him out and fluffing the break. He didn't.

I expected Weimann to charge in between the 2 CBs and have a blocked shot. He didn't.

I expected Bacuna to hit it first time and sky it into row Z. He didn't.

Right choice every time. I think because the pressure was off a little bit. Also because when going forward at speed there's no atmosphere of fear of fluffing up.

My thoughts

we started off as per usual, pass pass pass and HOOF, its never works for us & puts us under pressure because we can't defend the ball coming back at us, Westwood again letting his marker breeze past him to score, until he Learns how to tackle westwood will be a passanger in games until we go 2-0 up, then the the pressure is off him and he opens up

Bacuna - a real quandary, he is not a right back, I don't think he has the skill to play right wing nor the nous required to play centre mid for us, needs a settled position, just not sure where

Weimann - just not happening for him this year, full of effort which you can applaud but his decision making, particularly in critical situations is bizarre

I enjoyed the win but Sky Sports had to go and ruin the day by conducting an interview with that boring deluded idiot Lambert. The fool thinks we have played well in our recent games. Absolutely amazing considering we failed to win and failed to score.

Yeah, what he should have done is say we're absolutely crap and were lucky to get the win today. I'm sure that would get the confidence going!

Not tell outright lies in the deluded belief that any fan with half a brain would believe him. Today was ok and we won but there was no need to talk about the last few games in such glowing terms when we all know they were crap.

Few fans were singing it in the concourses at Newcastle away last weekend.

I think he's just a club legend due to his performances, personality and rapport with the crowd.
