romavillan Posted February 12, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) With only the Newcastle game left in what has been a very poor February, where we have missed the opportunity to be sitting in 10th with 31/34 points and looking up rather than down. What will March bring? Norwich (H) Man City (A) Chelsea (H) Stoke (H) Man U (A) Norwich look awfully lost at the moment, but at home we have been horrible. City away who knows, but you'd have to expect a mauling there. Then perhaps low on confidence facing Chelsea at home, maybe after another poor home performance against Norwich and a mauling at City? Doesn't bode well. Then come Hughes' Stoke, a different proposition to the Pulis version and a team who could well be in deep sh*t by the time they arrive at Villa Park. Then to top it off a trip up to Old Trafford. On the other hand, maybe we'll do Norwich at home and finally click? I can see us only getting 4 points, but realistically even on this season's form we could get 6 or 7 from that run. Which put together with a win next time out at Newcastle would see us pretty much safe before April for the first time in a while. Thoughts? Tomaszk
We've got a great record v Norwich under Lambert. Have we lost? Jesus, looking at those fixtures, I think I'd take 4 points. How bad is that?!
Zatman
I think if Lambert grows a pair and attacks we could get something at old trafford but a big If

Spoony
City, United and Chelsea are where I see us picking up points. No joke.
AntrimBlack
I suspect 2 draws at home to Norwich and Stoke, possibly one of them a win, possibly an unexpected draw in one of the other matches. So between 2 and 5, but who knows with this team.

romavillan Posted February 12, 2014 Author VT Supporter Share Posted February 12, 2014 Looks like a win against Newcastle before starting this run is pretty important, at least a point and not getting beat. A win and only picking up 4 points through March would mean we'd finish the month on 35 points, a draw and 33. An optimist might say we'd average better than a point a game through March, so let's say 6 points. With a win beforehand at Newcastle that would see us on 37 points and pretty much safe before kicking a ball in April for the first time in a few years. Going to be a real make or break month. spoonman
The only way to get Paul Lambert out is for Villa to be relegated, but with some irony, we would then have a team and a manager suitable for that league. But considering that Faulker and Lerner have appointed nothing but dross (Doug brought MON in, don't forget that) - I really don't see the point. Lambert is all there is... Maybe we should just stop caring as much as he does.
Robbie09
Citeh face Barcelona in the second leg 3 days after we play them so hopefully they will rest a couple of players. 6 points would be a reasonable return
