Chelsea fans to "wem-ber-ley"

Celery

Celery

If she doesn't cum I'll tickle her bum with a lump of celery

Legend is some bloke just started singing it one day whilst having a conversation with his pal about an impending date that evening. They occasionally throw lumps of celery on to the pitch when they score.

slightly off topic but Jason lee was playing at the hong kong soccer sevens last year for one of the masters teams, with a shaved head - a bunch of us started 'he's got a pineapple on his head' and to give the lad credit he gave us all a big smile and a wave.... not sure the locals had much of a clue what was going on but very amusing...

Pretty sure I remember this chant last season, after losing to Chelsea 8-0 and Spurs 4-0, Wigan then came and won 3-0 and we started chanting 'How shit must you be, you've only scored 3'. Don't think it lasted very long, most people had left and the ones still there were too depressed to even join in.

Another was Liverpool away, Marlon Harewood came on when 1-0 down and scored an overhead kick. We didn't have a proper chant for him at the time so when 'Du, du, du, Marlon F***ing Harewood' broke out it was pretty funny and continued through the rest of the game and outside the ground.

I liked the Ashley Young chant, Claret Ribbon when on a cup run, and the one for MON which started with 'When I was young, I had a dream..'

A not so good one was the 'Eduardo' chant at Arsenal but everyone joined in purely because of how angry it was making the Arsenal fans. They actually got up off their seats and started throwing their arms around, very aggressive that for Gooners.

How does the Eduardo chant go?

To the tune of 'Monster'

'Whats that poking out of his sock?

It is his ankle,

It is his ankle'

Singing the full version of holte enders in the sky in the boozer before the league cup final against Man Ure, no longer sung or really an appropriate song but it does bring back memories of days gone bye. I remember being amazed at how many of the younger fans (young to me lol) had no idea that there was more to the song than just the chorus

These are the CORRECT lyrics to HEITS

as wrote in 1971 by Keith Bryenton,

we still sit on the Holte together,

As i walked out at Villa Park one dark and dusty day,

I spied a poor blues fan a running far away

I said to this poor city fan it looks like you might die

He said i know `cause I've just seen Holte Enders in the sk

Yippee eye aye, Yippee eye ohh, Holte Enders in the sky,

now he ran down the terraces and then towards the gate

little did he know death was to be his fate

he had one more short hour to live and then he`d hear the cry

that every city fan does fear , Holte Enders in the sky,

Yippee eye aye, Yippee eye ohh, Holte Enders in the sky,

Their fists where just like granite and their pockets full of lead,

and when they catch a city fan, you know he`ll end up dead

`cause Villa fans rule Birmingham and city fans know why,

the`ve all heard and th`ve all seen Holte Enders in the sky,

Yippee eye aye, Yippee eye ohh, Holte Enders in the sky,,

Completely inappropriate now of course, but that is indeed a work of art.

I do very much like the slowed down version of the current truncated HEITS. More in line with the Johnny Cash original.

I think we should play that more often for what is worth. I love that song. That and Theme From An Unmade Silent Movie. I've never quite understood why we meddle with our song history as much as we do.

I've not heard The Bells Are Ringing in a loooong time and only ever away. Another favourite of mine is Niiiiigle Spink, he rolls the ball to Platty...

The Rioch rendition .....born is the king of Villa Park, was quite nifty.

I was reminded today at a funeral of  a great Holte Ender and member of the old Dougal mob that I made a crown for Rioch, and his captain George Curtis let me present it to him in the dressing room before kick-off  at Villa Park, the Argos showed him wearing it whilst holding his new born baby.

This was belted out today by the surviving members of the Dougal Mob at Garry Haddens  funeral, a great turn out for a great guy, RIP HEITS.

HaHa.....I was a young fan standing in the Holte and I used to hear the Dougal mob chant the....

Eyes right foreskins tight , bollocks to the front,

we are the boys, that cause no noise,

but we,re always after ****

we're the heroes of the night

and we'd rather **** than fight

we're the heroes of the  dougal fusiliers....oi,oi,oi,oi.

I'm not sure if I got all that right.....its just what I remember from the terraces.

I remember being in the Cap n Gown about (wow) 10 years ago when we beat them 2-0 and there was celery flying everywhere.

A couple I can barely remember whilst standing at the back of the holte years ago,  anytime Liverpool visited..

He's only a poor little scouser,

His face is All tattered and torn,

He made me feel sick, so I hit him with a brick,

And now he don't sing anymore... Oh...

Or ..

Sign on, sign on,

With a pen, in your hand,

And you'll never get a job,

Youll never get a job,

Sign on, sign on

More recently at leeds this did make me laugh.. Probably shouldn't have but...

Jimmy Saville,  he's one of your own..he's one of your owwwn.. Jimmy Saville he's one of your own...

Very close and it was sung yesterday, but make no noise rather than cause no noise, seems a bit odd now we are all in our mid sixties, but we had the best time ever to be Villans
