Stevo985 Posted January 24, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted January 24, 2014 Trying to think who I've had on backs of shirts in the past: 8 Draper 14 Dublin 10 Merson 14 Ginola 4 Mellberg 6 Barry 11 Agbonlahor 9 Bent 26 Weimann 14 A.Luna (I cursed him didn't I) I've only ever had 11 Baros 7 Young 5 Laursen 2 out of 3 aint bad I've had my own name a few times though. Oh yeah I had 23 Wain once, bet you can guess what birthday I got that for. Didn't Baros wear number 9? Don't think so. Maybe it was 10, not 11. BUt pretty sure it wasn't

briny_ear
Must say I've managed to blank that strip completely out of my memory. Can't think why. Edited January 26, 2014 by briny_ear
pete101
My first name on a jersey was meant to say milosevic, but was only 8 and girl in shop said would not fit on child's jersey , she put just Savo on it, this resulted in nickname Savo that still used nearly 20years later
Paddywhack
The first name I had was Yorke on the 95/97 shirt, but my dad didn't want to pay for the number as well. Name on the back, Premiership patches on the sleeves, but no squad number. Drove me mad. I had my own surname with number 9 on the back for both 'Rover' shirts, because I was cool. 07/08 - 7 Young 11/12 - 11 Agbonlahor. So...you know...there you go. danceoftheshamen
I liked the 1982 /83 kit Lightblue side panels and old badge in the chest centre... It was a Le coq Sportif kit if i remember
Xela
I love that Hummel monstrosity from the late '80s in a "so bad it's good" way. My first Villa shirt and the best! The school I went to was roughly 50% Villa 50% Liverpool (as they were in their glory days) and during non uniform days, the school playing ground was a mass of Mita Copiers and Crown Paints / Candy adverts! benireduk
Loved the white Nike away shirt with blue pinstripes. That kit oozed class. Looked even better when we had to wear it at home v West Ham and we had acorns on it instead of 32Red. Sorry Villatalk app won't let me upload a picture

benireduk
That kit is up there as well. If you google villa in away kit at home v west ham, the kit I mentioned is the first pic.
myko
First year of Acorns is my favourite away kit, followed closely by the current one. 3 players I've had on the back: Petrov (08/09) Benteke (12/13) Weimann (13/14) I will ALWAYS regret not getting Heskey... seriously. Avfc96
03/04- Barry on both shirts 0405- 'Shoot' for reasons mentioned another page on the home and Barry on the away 05/06- Baros on the home and Davis on the away 06/07- Agbonlahor on the home and Mellberg on the away It must have cost my dad an absolute fortune on that lot complete with numbers and premier league badges. And then I grew up (Also had the blue England away kit with Heskey on the back).
ThunderPower_14
I've been looking through this thread and we've had some absolutely beautiful kits. What do people reckon the quintessential Villa kit is? Obviously it would have to have a claret body with blue sleeves, but which kit has been the best representation of an "Aston Villa" kit since the dawn of the manufacturer/sponsor era? Maybe this one?
Villarocker
Only ever had one player's name on the back of my shirt and that was GOD 5 My most recent favourite is the first Acorns home shirt, I loved that. My first ever pic of me in a Villa shirt shows me wearing the home shirt circa 1980, so always had a love for that shirt.
