srsmithusa
Too new to the religion to ever see god play, but even from old films it's easy to decide he was comfortably the best. Laursen, of those I've seen.

dont_do_it_doug.
Obviously God. I don't remember B.C. but A.D. I'd have to say Southgate. Absolutely immense, to this day I think he was better than people give him credit for. To the "underrated" thread...
danceoftheshamen
Agree, has to be God!.... I have fond memories too however of Alan Evans (His overhead kick winner at St Andrews)

Vincenzo
Paul McGrath was a fantastic player no doubt and in the same team we had a young striker, Dwight Yorke, another fantastic player IMO. Gotta have a mention for Allan Evans pyscho Evans la la la la la!

AndyBM
my top 4 would be Mellberg, McGrath, Laursen and Staunton
Woodytom
Richard Dunne in his first season is the best CB I have seen at VP. His performance at OT in 0-1 win was the best performance from a CB I have seen.
Alpaywasawesome
Could we do a separate list for full backs? I'd go: 1) Staunton 2) Wright 3) Barrett 4) Charles 5) Delaney No Bouma? Severely limited as an attacking full-back, but by God, nothing got through his side when he was playing for us. Solid as a rock. The Bouma-Young partnership was a beautiful thing ... dukes
Obviously God, but also Kent Nielsen deserves a mention he was immense alongside him.

VillakevBromsgrove
Makes you wonder though how he would have coped in todays game where players are faster and bigger, whilst he relied on great football intelligence at reading the game people forget he did not train in the week due to his knees. He may not have been as good in todays game where it is more about speed and tactics.

He may not have been as good in todays game where it is more about speed and tactics. Another myth that he relied on his ability to read the game. That is what made him exceptional, but he could run very fast too and was very strong. Had his knees been up for it, he would've been up for it.
