Same bullsh1t. Different year

P.S. WTF has he even done as a player. Is he good on PS3 or something? Uncredible

Won 4 titles in 2 different leagues, 5 cups and 42 international caps. Still starts regularly in a very good Belgium side.

Part of a Porto team that has lost 1 league game since he arrived. In 2011. 74 games. 1 loss.

Not used to chasing the ball for 80% of the time then.

You would hope if we got Defour and Hoolahan we wouldn't have such low possession. There will be much more movement and more intention to pass the ball to players that can do something with it than just hoof it.

That's true, they are both 'ball' players who command the ball and want to pass and move, although Defour does that from a deeper position.

If we did sign both of those player then I'd expect our possession stats to jump up quite a bit.

Even though I'm Ashley Westwoods biggest fan, I think we need to bring in someone like Defour. Would obviously be able to help out Westy maybe possibly recapture the form he displayed towards the end of last season.

Latest from Kristof Terreur, a pretty reliable Belgian journalist covering the Premier League, is the following.

"Agent Paul Stefani admits he talked to #AVFC, but the interest in Steven #Defour's not concrete, PL checks other options first" and "As far as I know Steven #Defour is eager to join #AVFC. Still dreams of the Premier League."

I'd be personally fuming if PL overlooks Defour and brings in instead some unknown from the lower leagues or aboard without any kind of recognisable experience. Would probably be my final nail in the coffin thinking he is the right man to bring back the MON style glory days.

Probably should've mentioned this last night but he is close to signing for Schalke according to reports in the German media apparently.

Any direct links or quotes to confirm this, couldn't find anything myself?? This might be a decent read if anyone is interested.

Here are a couple (the first mentions the story in Bild which is a major German paper):

To be honest, I accepted it was extremely unlikely as soon as his third-party ownership was established given our league's rules regarding this.

If ti's between us, Schalke and Anderlecht, we are the best choice for Defour. Schalke is obviously a better club, playing for european spots in germany but he would risk getting in the same situation as at porto, being on the bench too often.

We are offering him the chance to play in a better league and next to Westwood and delph we have a midfield spot for grabs. He'll probably talk to benteke about us and seeing as he extended over the summer, he'll probably be positive about villa and Lambert.

Jermaine Jones is leaving to us and Defour to Schalke knowing our luck. But they have so much quality in that midfield. If he wants games. Come to Villa. Prove yourself in the premier league then get your dream move to Manchester or Chelsea. Schalke wont be doing much sitting at 7th in Germany either.

But i dont believe for one second we are after him.
