Work Christmas "Do"s

Anyone had theirs or got theirs coming up (shortly I guess)?

We have ours tomorrow for our relatively small team.  As we're a team based in London during the week, we're doing the British Museum in the afternoon after a session in a local establishment (museum whilst drunk, interesting) followed by the Porterhouse, before rounding off with a Japanese meal.  A slightly subdued affair I feel but hey, the boss has promised to buy everyone drinks all evening so it can't be that bad :)

Sake here I come.

What have you done / have coming up?

I went out in Stratford on Friday. Got the drink speedo a bit wrong and ended up out of my face. Managed to get to the hotel room and promptly chucked up into the toilet.

Lay down, closed my eyes and the intense spinning made me puke again, and again each time until I took a towel with me to bed and carried on puking into that.

Woke up next to a yellow wet towel on the bed.

Then puked again as soon as I woke up. Each time I emptied my stomach completely, it took about 20-30 mins to recreate the bile and for that to come up again. In the end it was just like spitting out mountain dew.

I picked up a cold/virus thing probably from the floor of the bathroom or the system shock.

I'm only just over it now.

Apparently I drank 2 pints of beer, 2 bottles of white wine, then a whole large bottle of disaronno. In 2 hours.

I'm never drinking to excess again. It's not worth it. I'd advise caution to anyone else embarking on their do.

You're actually quite lucky mate that your body spewed it out quickly and constantly - it could have been a helluva lot worse.

(alcoholic poisoning, dying in your sleep from choking on your own vomit... etc).

Seeing as I'll have an hour-long (ish) tube journey back to my digs, I plan on taking my time, watch everyone else get plastered and enjoy the evening whilst getting merry without regretting it.

(I've said I'll be in work on Friday too to respond to a few emails ... :(  I'll turn up at about 4pm :)

Mine is tomorrow but it feels strange because I broke up last week whilst the other 3 guys don't finish until xmas eve . It feels like I am going back to work for some weird reason . It's also the day the wife lands from Florida so the last thing I want is to spend the first night eating curry and talking about kitchens but alas, I am a team player and I like my job, and the guys there, so will rock up for a madras and some integrated dishwasher chat whilst the lads ogle Jaime's bazookas.

mine was saturday, went for pre drinks, then to a free bar, got absolutely smashed, embarrassed myself entirely, only joined 4 months ago, there are 7 people that do my job (QS) im the only one who does it from site, everyone else does it from their desk in the office, i decided to ask them how they do it and suggested that they weren't doing the job properly, cant remember a thing after 10pm, swore a lot at the magician that my company had hired when i couldn't understand how he'd done his tricks (he was amazing too from what i remember) then according to the gf she had to wait outside in the car park for about an hour cos i kept answering the phone and saying "yeah just saying goodbye" whilst happily drinking more

got voted drunkest person  :hooray:

got another one Monday, might not show my face  :( would say give the drink a miss for a while but got the lions club christmas party at / after stoke on Saturday, that'll end in a mess too

official office do is Friday but I'm skipping it

went on the much smaller unofficial underground works do last weekend which included abusing the firm's taxi account to the tune of £75 and purchasing booze on expenses

Ours was last week.

Marquee decked out Art Deco style in the garden of a stately home.

3 course meal and nibbles. Band, DJ (who I must say was good), dancers, dangling girly performance artists, casino, proper dodgems and the booze - all layed on.

Over 1000 Jager Bombs served at the bar.

Nice, but meh.

The HMV "Here's your five beer tokens" parties were vastly more entertaining.

Had ours during the storm two weeks ago at this place, a Open air bath. We were supposed to have a winter swim as well but it got called off because of the storm. The waterlevel was so high it was at level with the pier and the waves splashed everywhere making the tarted up ladies looking like wet t-shirt contestants. Lovely!

No public transport was working so I had to drive, alas being sober. IT SUCKED!

We had ours last week. There's a guy (who is a bit of a goon anyway) on our team that decided he didn't like the restaurant where we were eating, so only ate a bowl of chips, while the rest of us tucked into a free 3 course meal. Suffice to say he got drunk very quickly, and decided that rather than talking, he'd shout everything he had to say three times (just to make sure everyone heard him). He managed to get us refused service in a local bar later in the evening. Fun times.

had mine last friday, was as bad as i anticipated. needed 6 pints before showing up to it  :P

btw trekka is the Porterhouse still really expensive? was there a couple years back to see what it was like as I like the ones in Dublin and it seems they just changed the prices on their menu from euro into sterling which is quite a lot of money even for London bars

We haven't got an 'official' one this year, it has not been allowed. The place from last year didn't give the deposit back because we had a 'food fight'. Yes, I didn't know that sort thing happy outside of school canteens either.

So basically we'll just be going out in a big group, but it won't be subsidised or anything.

They are putting on a 'New Years Ball' though. PUKE.

Well that was a pleasant evening, I didn't make a right guttersnipe out of myself and I'm a convert to proper Japanese cuisine (it was bloody lovely!). The boss even settled the bill (which wasn't cheap!). Porterhouse is expensive aye.
