VillaChris
Same year, wrong game. We beat the at WHL in September 2008. Our aggregate score against Spurs under Lambert is not pretty reading at all!
Stevo985 Posted September 25, 2014 VT Supporter Share Posted September 25, 2014 Spurs are like United mk2 for us. No matter how bad their form is, they'll always turn up against us!
Zatman
doesnt help we always play very limp against them not just the infamous McLeish game. I remember a game under MON in which they battered us and we escaped with a draw think Beye was man of the match

Mantis
Yeah, we always tend to play shit against Spurs for some reason. At least against United there's the odd good performance.
AshVilla
Frazier Campbell always seems to play well against us i think

I don't believe in being "due" a result, each game is it's own unique set of circumstances, but surely it's about **** time we turned up against them? What is it about their style of play that Lambert struggles with? Are all of those results against Villas Boas?
Zatman
last game of season was Sherwood in charge but others I think was AVB. hell think Soldado got his only goal from open play against us
VillaChris
It's a poor match up for us, 11 v 11. In fairness it was a struggle during the latter part of the MON reign against them aswell when we were scrapeing draws with Modric running the show. I liken it to how Pompey used to be a bogey team for us e.g. the physical and fast defence they had of Campbell, Distin and Glen Johnson used to mark Carew, Gabby and Ashley Young out of the game. It's a bit similar with Spurs, Kyle Walker, Vertonghen, Kaboul always tend to keep our strikers quiet and their midfield tends to dominate ours cue the one sided results. I expect the games to be closer this year, we're due a result against them at VP anyway.
VillaChris
How many goals has Sturridge scored against us now, he seems to be the new Fowler, bad news he got himself fit just before us this year. Not convinced we'd have won the cup semi if he hadn't pulled out on the morning of the game.
