Snow in Istanbul looks a bit like hail in my opinion.

They probably don't have the equipment to clear the pitch out there, do they?

Why on earth would you think that?

The groundstaff had the pitch cleared within 10 minutes but the snow just kept coming and sticking. The players wanted to play on (apart from Drogba) but the flappy Portuguese ref called it off.

they might have had the equipment (but i agree thats highly unlikely) but they obviously didnt see it coming seeing as they didnt paint the lines blue, which seeing as its them that they are clearing must have been the complaint

sounds like a woolly woofter of a ref more than anything else

how often does it snow there hitz? also going to assume they dont bother with under soil heating

Snow in Turkey is common, particularly in the north and central areas. They should be prepared for it. Istanbul probably gets snow more often than London. Cold fronts blow south from Russia over the Black Sea bring Lake-Effect Snow which can be very heavy.

Ref's fault completely. The brand new Turk Telekom Arena does have undersoil heating but the snow/hail came down within 15 minutes.

It was 10 degrees today so they probably thought about not turning it on. At around 8pm the temp. dropped like a stone.

Snow is common in Istanbul. Last year there was about 4 weeks of it.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored his 9th goal in the Champions League group stages, that is a new record. He missed the home game against Galatasaray and even missed a penalty tonight as well as hitting the post, so that figure could/should have been even higher. Zlatan could have been up there as well, but he didn't play against Benfica tonight.

City are going to be the team that no group winner wants to draw. They're downright scary

. They are definitely undervalued in terms of their coefficient. It might be the case for a few seasons too.

LOL at FC Hollywood. Ribery WPOTY? yer having a laugh.

He's got a wave of support on the internet because of some ridiculous logic that the best player in the most successful team should win.   I wouldn't read too much into Manchester City's comeback tonight though, they need to win 5-2 to stop Bayern topping the group and that ain't gonna happen.

dont even think he was the best player for Bayern last year. Robben got all the crucial goals for them at vital times
