BOF Posted December 3, 2013 Author Moderator Share Posted December 3, 2013 I don't care what the criteria is I'm not having that. We've been here It tends to be win your group and win nearly every match you play. Switzerland guilty as charged. If teams don't want them in pot 1 then maybe they should just beat them.

Voinjama
No, we need to wait to see which unseeded European gets dropped into pot 2 first - it could be Italy. So that would mean a very tough group if drawn with them.
BOF Posted December 3, 2013 Author Moderator Share Posted December 3, 2013 best group for england would beswitzlandalgeriahondorasENGLANDworstbrazilivory coastUSAENGLANDConsidering what was done to England on their home turf recently, I think getting Chile from pot 2 would be worse than Ivory Coast. Factor in the relative 'home field' advantage and climate for Chile and they're not a side you want to face.

Zatman
on current form France and Croatia are probably the 2 weakest teams from Europe at the tournament
Zatman
people really are underestimating this Swiss team they are the only team to beat Spain in a competitive game since 2007 (I dont count Confederations Cup), an awesome manager and a solid defence
BOF Posted December 3, 2013 Author Moderator Share Posted December 3, 2013 Yep, unlike France, this Swiss side have earned everything they've got and have been handed nothing on a plate even allowing for having Blatter there to pull strings. Plus their FA and youth setup is a blueprint for everyone. I don't begrudge them at all and they wouldn't be top seeds if they weren't winning at an annoying regularity. Spain dominated that game and somehow lost, it's not a good example.

andykeenan
All info How draw works pots dates & kick off times HOW THE DRAW WORKSEngland are not among the seeds so could be drawn in the same group as hosts Brazil or holders Spain. A more favourable draw would see them placed alongside Switzerland. As hosts, Brazil were automatically seeded and have already been placed in Group A, taking spot A1 in the draw. Spain, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, Switzerland and Uruguay have also been seeded on the basis of their October FIFA ranking.THE POTSPot 1: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, UruguayPot 2: Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Chile, Ecuador (plus one currently in Pot 4)Pot 3: Australia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, USAPot 4: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia (one team will be drawn into Pot 2)As you will see, Pot 4, made up entirely of European nations, currently has nine teams and Pot 2 only seven. At the start of the draw, one team from Pot 4 will be drawn at random and placed into Pot 2 to balance things out.The draw will then be staged according to the principle that teams cannot be drawn in the same group as those from the same confederation (ie two South American teams cannot be placed in the same group). The one exception to this is the European confederation - due to the number of European qualifiers, two teams from the UEFA region will be allowed in the same group.To ensure these principles are adhered to, the European team which ends up in Pot 2 is already guaranteed to be put in the same group as a South American team from Pot 1. Again, that will happen at the start of the draw.A good group for England would appear to be Switzerland, Honduras and Algeria. A worst-case scenario could be considered to be Brazil, Netherlands and Mexico.Kick-off times ranging from 1700 BST to 0200 BST - 1300 to 2100 in local times - UK-based fans will be in for some late nights. However, the majority of games start at either 1700 BST or 2100 BST, while the final is a 2000 BST kick-off.Dates, venues and kick-off times:*Kick-off times BSTGROUP AJune 12 Sao Paulo, 2100: Brazil v A2June 13 Natal, 1700: A3 v A4June 17 Fortaleza, 2000: Brazil v A3June 18 Manaus, 2000: A4 v A2June 23 Brasilia, 2100: A4 v BrazilJune 23 Recife, 2100: A2 v A3GROUP BJune 13 Salvador, 2000: B1 v B2June 13 Cuiaba, 2300: B3 v B4June 18 Rio de Janeiro, 2300: B1 v B3June 18 Porto Alegre, 1700: B4 v B2June 23 Curitiba, 1700: B4 v B1June 23 Sao Paulo, 1700: B2 v B3GROUP CJune 14 Belo Horizonte, 1700: C1 v C2June 14 Recife, 2300: C3 v C4June 19 Brasilia, 1700: C1 v C3June 19 Natal, 2300: C4 v C2June 24 Cuiaba, 2100: C4 v C1June 24 Fortaleza, 2100: C2 v C3GROUP DJune 14 Fortaleza, 2000: D1 v D2June 15 Manaus, 0200: D3 v D4June 19 Sao Paulo, 2000: D1 v D3June 20 Recife, 1700: D4 v D2June 24 Natal, 1700: D4 v D1June 24 Belo Horizonte, 1700: D2 v D3GROUP EJune 15 Brasilia, 1700: E1 v E2June 15 Porto Alegre, 2000: E3 v E4June 20 Salvador, 2000: E1 v E3June 20 Curitiba, 2300: E4 v E2June 25 Manaus, 2100: E4 v E1June 25 Rio de Janeiro, 2100: E2 v E3GROUP FJune 15 Rio de Janeiro, 2300: F1 v F2June 16 Curitiba, 2000: F3 v F4June 21 Belo Horizonte, 1700: F1 v F3June 21 Cuiaba, 2300: F4 v F2June 25 Porto Alegre, 1700: F4 v F1June 25 Salvador, 1700: F2 v F3GROUP GJune 16 Salvador, 1700: G1 v G2June 16 Natal, 2300: G3 v G4June 21 Fortaleza, 2000: G1 v G3June 22 Manaus, 2000: G4 v G2June 26 Recife, 1700: G4 v G1June 26 Brasilia, 1700: G2 v G3GROUP HJune 17 Belo Horizonte, 1700: H1 v H2June 17 Cuiaba, 2300: H3 v H4June 22 Rio de Janeiro, 2300: H1 v H3June 22 Porto Alegre, 1700: H4 v H2June 26 Sao Paulo, 2100: H4 v H1June 26 Curitiba, 2100: H2 v H3LAST 16Match 49 - June 28 Belo Horizonte, 1700: Winner A v Runner-up BMatch 50 - June 28 Rio de Janeiro, 2100: Winner C v Runner-up DMatch 51 - June 29 Fortaleza, 1700: Winner B v Runner-up AMatch 52 - June 29 Recife, 2100: Winner D v Runner-up CMatch 53 - June 30 Brasilia, 1700: Winner E v Runner-up FMatch 54 - June 30 Porto Alegre, 2100: Winner G v Runner-up HMatch 55 - July 1 Sao Paulo, 1700: Winner F v Runner-up EMatch 56 - July 1 Salvador, 2100: Winner H v Runner-up GQUARTER-FINALSMatch 57 - July 4 Fortaleza, 2100: Winner Match 49 v Winner Match 50Match 58 - July 4 Rio de Janeiro, 1700: Winner Match 53 v Winner Match 54Match 59 - July 5 Salvador, 2100: Winner Match 51 v Winner Match 52Match 60 - July 5 Brasilia, 1700: Winner Match 55 v Winner Match 56SEMI-FINALSJuly 8 Belo Horizonte, 2100: Winner Match 57 v Winner Match 58July 9 Sao Paulo, 2100: Winner Match 59 v Winner Match 60THIRD-PLACE PLAY-OFFJuly 12 Brasilia, 2100FINALJuly 13 Rio de Janeiro, 2000

VillaChris
How come the swiss didn't make euro 2012 if they're so amazing? Oh wait they finished behind Montengro in the qualifiers..... Voinjama
I think Ukraine are better then Switzerland, but Ukraine had England in their group and then France in the playoffs.
VillaChris
The reality is Swiss have some decent players but they were in an incredibly easy group.....Norway, Iceland, Albania, Cyprus, where's the big hitting European nation in that that most middle ranking euro sides have to contend with. That allowed them to accumulate wins and build up their ranking but surely Russia should've been above them given they won a group that had Portugal in it? I very much doubt Swiss would've won a group with Portugal as competitors.
Voinjama
We'll never know for sure, but in my opinion Switzerland would not of won any of the other groups.
