I don't care what the criteria is I'm not having that.

We've been here :) It tends to be win your group and win nearly every match you play. Switzerland guilty as charged. If teams don't want them in pot 1 then maybe they should just beat them.

best group for england would be

switzland

algeria

hondoras

ENGLAND

worst

brazil

ivory coast

USA

ENGLAND

Considering what was done to England on their home turf recently, I think getting Chile from pot 2 would be worse than Ivory Coast. Factor in the relative 'home field' advantage and climate for Chile and they're not a side you want to face.

I can't wait to see Blatter's sweaty face when they fail to get out of the group.

Yep, unlike France, this Swiss side have earned everything they've got and have been handed nothing on a plate even allowing for having Blatter there to pull strings. Plus their FA and youth setup is a blueprint for everyone. I don't begrudge them at all and they wouldn't be top seeds if they weren't winning at an annoying regularity.

people really are underestimating this Swiss team they are the only team to beat Spain in a competitive game since 2007 (I dont count Confederations Cup), an awesome manager and a solid defence

I'll admit to knowing nothing about them. Spain dominated that game and somehow lost, it's not a good example.

All info How draw works pots dates & kick off times

HOW THE DRAW WORKS

England are not among the seeds so could be drawn in the same group as hosts Brazil or holders Spain. A more favourable draw would see them placed alongside Switzerland. As hosts, Brazil were automatically seeded and have already been placed in Group A, taking spot A1 in the draw. Spain, Germany, Argentina, Colombia, Belgium, Switzerland and Uruguay have also been seeded on the basis of their October FIFA ranking.

THE POTS

Pot 1: Argentina, Belgium, Brazil, Colombia, Germany, Spain, Switzerland, Uruguay

Pot 2: Algeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Chile, Ecuador (plus one currently in Pot 4)

Pot 3: Australia, Iran, Japan, Korea, Costa Rica, Honduras, Mexico, USA

Pot 4: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, England, France, Greece, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Russia (one team will be drawn into Pot 2)

As you will see, Pot 4, made up entirely of European nations, currently has nine teams and Pot 2 only seven. At the start of the draw, one team from Pot 4 will be drawn at random and placed into Pot 2 to balance things out.

The draw will then be staged according to the principle that teams cannot be drawn in the same group as those from the same confederation (ie two South American teams cannot be placed in the same group). The one exception to this is the European confederation - due to the number of European qualifiers, two teams from the UEFA region will be allowed in the same group.

To ensure these principles are adhered to, the European team which ends up in Pot 2 is already guaranteed to be put in the same group as a South American team from Pot 1. Again, that will happen at the start of the draw.

A good group for England would appear to be Switzerland, Honduras and Algeria. A worst-case scenario could be considered to be Brazil, Netherlands and Mexico.

Kick-off times ranging from 1700 BST to 0200 BST - 1300 to 2100 in local times - UK-based fans will be in for some late nights. However, the majority of games start at either 1700 BST or 2100 BST, while the final is a 2000 BST kick-off.

The reality is Swiss have some decent players but they were in an incredibly easy group.....Norway, Iceland, Albania, Cyprus, where's the big hitting European nation in that that most middle ranking euro sides have to contend with.

That allowed them to accumulate wins and build up their ranking but surely Russia should've been above them given they won a group that had Portugal in it? I very much doubt Swiss would've won a group with Portugal as competitors.
