Davkaus
Benteke gets a 0/10 tonight. Inept. No more excuses for him. Offside constantly, couldn't hold the ball up, greedy, stroppy. Getting a tad fed up. Agreed. I'd be tempted to drop him and play Gabby and Weimann if they're fit, maybe Kozak and Gabby. The problem is Benteke had games like this last season, when he was awful, but then he'd grab a goal and win the game from nothing.
StefanAVFC
Also we got a point with FIVE first teamers not starting. Easily forgotten.
The_Steve
A game of two halves. Shocking twenty minutes but West Brom let us back into the game and we showed our class when it mattered. Two very good finishes for the goals. Brave substitution by Lambert. Vlaar was solid all evening. Draw was fair. A frenetic and open-ended derby. Showed our class mmmm. Brave substitution by Lambert. Eh no. He just made the obvious changes. Eh? Not really. He gambled on bringing on players short of match fitness. He could have tried several variations but he didn't. So, coming back from 2-0 down isn't showing your class?
islingtonclaret
How on earth did we manage that? Lambert needs to sort his tactics out. The obvious subs of Delph and Gabby - clearly should have started if they were match fit.

drat01
shocking selection first half slow no passion, no skill second half, take off the ones having a mare and put the 3 who should have started and what a surprise? we play better, we attack and we score it isn't rocket lambert Almost as if... they weren't fit enough to start the game but half an hour wasn't too much of a risk. Amazing - Subs can come on from minute 1 - so basically you pick players who can can do the 90 mins. If your best players only have 30 mins in them like you are saying you get that out of them at the start I appreciate you wont criticise Lambert but your clutching at straws now is somewhat ....... clutching
troon_villan
You can tell Benteke's a proper striker; he's still chasing the ball towards goal even after it had gone in.

They're 2 of out most important players. They were on the bench for a reason

Villain4Life
I have to admit, I couldn't take watching any longer, when we went 2-0 down after just 11 minutes. Guess I'll have to look for a highlight clip ... UTV
Popular Post Mantis
I don't see what's so hard to understand about the concept of players not being fit enough to play a full 90 minutes?

If you had a player like Gabby that only has 30 minutes in him due to lack of match fitness, you'd play him for the first 30 minutes, instead of letting him have an impact at the end of the game when the other team is wore down a bit? Maybe this is why Paul Lambert is a Premier League manager and you aren't.

Honest bunch of lads
So are we shit or good? Average. Doesn't exist. We're either good or bad. Don't you know this? Why don't you offer your own opinion and discuss the game instead of turning everything in to a point scoring contest. All you've done all game is try to lock horns with other posters. You're right mate. It's not worth the aggro to confront people when they're being pansies. Benteke gets a 0/10 tonight. Inept. No more excuses for him. Offside constantly, couldn't hold the ball up, greedy, stroppy. Getting a tad fed up. 0/10 is exaggerating he won a heck of a lot of headers. I do think he can work harder though and that has been apparent since the Arsenal game, does look more disinterested than last season.

The obvious subs of Delph and Gabby - clearly should have started if they were match fit. maybe the obvious thing is they weren't ready for 90 mins. after a suicidal first 20 mins we could have won that. it'll give the players a good bit of confidence that come back performance. we just ran out of steam a bit after pressing like maniacs in the second half, KEA was instrumental in that. we were an in form benteke away from three points, still though great point after gifting them a goal. long produced two finishes which he's not going to repeat in a hurry, but they missed a couple of sitters too so a point is fair.
StanBalaban
We've saved quite a few points from losing positions. I think Lambert has instilled a resilience in this time, under previous managers, I think we'd have lost this game. But we were always in with a sniff. we've actually rescued more points from losing positions than any other team this season.
BleedClaretAndBlue
Vlaar motm Great captain, great interview again, top bloke Buzzin to comeback like that, would have took that at HT as we all would. Benteke very rusty, thought Baker, Bacuna and Shearer were poor. Payback from last season. Sunderland at home next with Delph and Gabby starting. I smell 3 points
villa89
Guzan - 5 should have done better for Long's second goal. Bacuna - 2 genuine two out of ten performance. He was dire. Clark - 5- Not a left back, and never will be one. Westwood - 6 Great goal but pretty anonymous. Some spells of decent passing but did he make a tackle in the game? Vlaar - 7 - Did ok, gave long too much space for his first goal but it was a lovely touch by the irishman Baker - 6 - meh. Sylla - 2 - awful. Looks completely out of his depth and surely now all those who who wanted him in the side will realise how wrong they were. Clermont Foot. Mohammed Salifou. Tonev - 2 - awful. Stop shooting and he *might* be better. Might. Kozak - 6- THought he did ok, he's no Benteke but might be a useful player. Benteke - 5- Didn't really get into the game. Seems as though if he doesn't score his confidence suffers, alot. El Ahmadi - 6- took his goal well but was poor in the first half. Agbonlahor (for Kozak 57) - 10. Can't ask anymore from a sub except maybe to score. added energy and did more in the time he was on than most of the rest of the team. Made the difference. Delph (for Sylla 57) - See Above. Our best midfielder by 1000 miles. Weimann (for Tonev 57) See Agbonlahor. Lambert - 9 - Fair play for taking the risk and making 3 subs at once. HAd nothing to lose to be fair, we were terrible before that. Edited November 25, 2013 by villa89
