I don't think Baros can be placed alongside those two.

Absolutely. If I ever meet Baros I shall thank him for those goals against Small Heath.

You and me both ;)

Yeh but £6.5m is a lot for a couple of goals against SHA. How many goals did he get in total for us? He wasn't much cop I'm afraid.

He was a sulky little sod and the only good thing about him (other than a rare goal now and then) was that we somehow swapped him for Carew.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he was a success by any means but I don't think he was a complete dud either. He only had one full season and still finished as joint-top scorer and did score some important goals. I think he would've had a better second season if DOL had stayed.

...get that black cat out of the dressing room

Luc Nilis (damn & f***) Gary Shaw, Alex Cropley, Keith Leonard .... we have had some sodding luck with injuries to key players.

Don't know if this is considered relevant but Laursen didn't actually play much under O'Leary. Probably not more than about 20 games over 2 seasons. It wasn't until Lerner turned up, and sent him to a specialist in the US who patched his knees up, that we got any consistent performance out of him at all.

I doubt he played as many as 20 games under O'Leary, I think he got injured in the 3rd game of the season against Charlton away in a midweek game, I think he only made 1 more appearance that season and he sat out the entire 05/06 season. Mayby 8 games, at most 10.

mayby had he been given a proper fitness regime when he arrived, he would of lasted a while longer, as I understand his knees were shot when he got here but it was O'Neill who decided to sort out a seperate less physical training regime for him

Ive had a few beers, its 11pm here in Thailand and just seen his recent comments about things that are happening at the Villa... Apologies for that :-D

So what did he say?

Tell us, and this thread might have some legs. Otherwise it's going to peter out or (more likely) end in a squabble.

Bugger... I cant find it for the life of me... I swore it was on the OS.

He was talking about Ron Vlaar and the current squad. It was the mannerisms he was using to talk about the club. He wasnt saying 'they'... He was saying 'we', like he was still pulling the shirt on... It made me smile. It was just nice to know that our club clearly still has a special place in his heart.

Okore is our new Laursen, why else do you think he injured his knee for?

Initiation.

He had a straight choice to win over the fans: do his knee in or grow a beard. Fair play to the lad for taking the hard route.
