(and not 100% sure these are all counties, either):

Leintrim

Connemara

Connaught

They're not. Although Leintrim is just a typo for Leitrim.

Thanks for that. I really need to learn more about my Irish heritage.

In around a friends house playing trivial pursuit

Needless to say I've won twice ready because the competition is along the lines of

Name an Indian city that has 3 test cricket grounds ... Kuala Lumpur

Name a Central American country that takes its name from the maya word for muddy water .. Chile

And we even had Hungary mentioned at one point for that answer !!!

I'm on my 14th can of strongbow and still can't make them look good !!!

The five constituent counties of the City of New York...

Shit.

There's New York County (Manhattan), then...

The Borough of Queens is also called Queens County IIRC...

apart from that I'm stumped. I can name the boroughs, but not the counties.

It's not Nicaragua:

The name "Nicaragua" was coined by Spanish colonists based on the name Nicarao, chief of the most populous indigenous tribe, and agua, the Spanish word for water.

I'm going with Belize.

Yeah, it's Belize:

The origin of the name Belize is unclear, but the earliest record of the name is found in the journal of the Dominican priest Fray José Delgado, dating to 1677. Delgado recorded the names of three major rivers that he crossed while traveling north along the Caribbean coast: Rio Soyte, Rio Xibum, and Rio Balis. These names, which correspond to the Sittee River, Sibun River, and Belize River, were provided to Delgado by his translator. It is likely that Delgado's "Balis" was actually the Mayan word belix (or beliz), meaning "muddy-watered".

Others have suggested that the name is derived from a Spanish pronunciation of the name of the Scottish buccaneer Peter Wallace, which was applied to an early settlement at the mouth of the Belize River, although there is no proof that Wallace actually settled in the area and some have characterized this claim as a myth. Several other possible etymologies have been suggested by writers and historians, including French and African origins.

That is strange logic  ;)

Costa Rica is actually Spanish for "Rich Coast" but can also mean "Pleasant Coast"

你好 (ni hao) is often translated as "hello."

Points for anyone who can tell me the literal, character-for-word translation :)
