Interesting times for them now with M'bappé supposedly given pretty much the same role Messi had at Barcelona. Remains to be seen what this actually means.

Would be nice to see them ditch Leonardo and his South American focus and instead give more love to their fantastic academy and French players. They have shipped away so many talented players under Leonardo and while I get that name recognition, star power and sports washing is the aim of the club they are at a kinda crossroads going forward.

The Qatar WC is this winter, after that they might change focus somewhat. Probably not thou but if they found another club for Neymar and let Messi go to Miami they could have a fresh start.

The star signings will help their long term growth and keeping Mbappe will definitely add to this. It will get all the random fans scattered around the world and all the young kids interested in them. My 10 year old nephew is obsessed with Mbappe. He says he's a Leicester fan as they live near there but he's rather have a PSG shirt. It'll be one of the same reasons City went for Grealish. All these kids will follow them and support them for the next few decades.

I get that

But they don't need ander herrera on £200k a week as their 5th choice CM, sub keeper is the ex real Madrid guy on about £150k a week, they have a really poor squad that is paid incredibly well

Leonardo is a fraud

Yeah they are what Milan was in the late 80's early 90's, Man U in the 90's and Barca in the early 2000's. People who want to jump on the winning side but are not necessarily that interested in football.

No doubt they are the most popular club with the FIFA kids.

Agree about Leonardo and that they have players massively over paid. They have the same issue Liverpool are trying to avoid with the Salah and Mane deals. If their starting attackers are on X then their midfield will demand Y and their defence demands Z. By paying Mbappe, Messi or Neymar a certain amount you end up dragging everyone else's wages up too.

Agreed. Except the game is a lot more global now and much bigger money involved. Not sure if that means PSG will do better long term than the others mentioned or if their support will be more transitional with these kids then following Real when he does transfer there. We've seen bits of this ourselves the last few years with how our social media presence went crazy and then died off after a couple of particular signings came and went.

won 5-2 at the weekend but mbappe took a penalty off neymar after a confrontation, missed, they won a 2nd penalty which neymar scored resulting in mbappe moping around for the rest of the game, neymar has then liked several tweets criticising mbappe whilst the media are also dragging up mbappe shoulder barging messi which has even got wayne involved

love to see it, let it burn

The arrival of Lionel Messi to Paris Saint Germain generated 700 million euros

A year ago, Lionel Messi said goodbye to the club that made him debut at just 17 years old . Barcelona announced that for economic and structural reasons they were not going to be able to take charge of Rosario's contract. After hearing the news, the Argentinian star gave a press conference in tears before joining PSG , who were waiting for him with open arms.

Until then, he won the Ligue 1 title and the French Super Cup , but he not only gave PSG that . According to registered marketing data , they entered around 700 million euros in a year . In addition, he brought with him 10 new sponsors, and the agreements that were previously made between 3 and 5 million, began to be between 5 and 8.

In turn, new brands such as Dior, Gorillas, Crypto.com, PlayBetR, GOAT, Smart Good Thins, Volt, Big Cola, Sports Water and Autohero were added , improving the club's income by 13%.

The value of the currency of the French institution in terms of cryptocurrencies also  doubled , exceeding 300 million revenues for the first time in its history.

Another area that grew exponentially with the arrival of the seven-time Ballon d'Or winner was this season's PSG jersey sales. More than a million units were sold, 60% of them with Messi's number 30 on the back

And they could sell hundreds of thousands more. "Demand has grown between 30% and 40%  and what can really stop it is supply. When a transfer of this magnitude happens,  Ronaldo to United for example , you might think that they are going to pay him selling shirts, but that is not the case. " You can't produce a lot of extra shirts. The deal is set to guarantee very important minimums but we can't meet the demand for Messi's shirts. We've reached the ceiling," Armstrong said.

PSG's record deficit in 2021-2022 deciphered

370 million euros. This is the amount of Paris-Saint-Germain losses for the 2021-2022 season. Except for a few marginal adjustments, this is the final figure which will be made official by the National Management and Control Directorate (DNCG) of the Professional Football League (LFP) in a few weeks, when it will present the 2021 accounts. 2022 of all L1 and L2 clubs. This amount is colossal but ultimately not that surprising. Last July, L'Équipe announced that the deficit for last season would be between 200 and 300 M€ .
