mjmooney Posted October 27, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted October 27, 2013 Met Office has issued a severe storm warning for the South West and expects that the "hurricane speed winds" will tear across towards the North East. They've changed their minds now. Apparently it's shifted towards the south-east of England. Obviously this will make it MUCH worse, and more newsworthy. Ingram85
So when's it starting in the Midlands? I need to get milk, digestives and scones from tesco in the car but don't want to end up five miles away hugging a tree with my spleen and the exhaust sticking out my face.

Ingram85
80 mph winds isn't it. More whisk you to oz rather than cool your soup down.

mjmooney Posted October 27, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted October 27, 2013 Blow, winds, and crack your cheeks! rage! blow! You cataracts and hurricanoes, spout Till you have drench’d our steeples, drown’d the cocks! You sulphurous and thought-executing fires, Vaunt-couriers to oak-cleaving thunderbolts, Singe my white head! And thou, all-shaking thunder, Strike flat the thick rotundity o’ the world! Crack nature’s moulds, all germens spill at once That make ingrateful man! Rumble thy bellyful! Spit, fire! spout, rain! Nor rain, wind, thunder, fire, are my daughters: I tax not you, you elements, with unkindness; I never gave you kingdom, call’d you children, You owe me no subscription: then, let fall Your horrible pleasure; here I stand, your slave, A poor, infirm, weak, and despis’d old man. But yet I call you servile ministers, That have with two pernicious daughters join’d Your high-engender’d battles ’gainst a head So old and white as this. O! O! ’tis foul. trekka Posted October 27, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted October 27, 2013 This is Trekka's time to shine, if that avatar is anything to go by :-) No pun intended. Well earlier on today a woman rang the BBC and said she had heard that there was a hurricane on the way. Well if you are watching, don't worry there isn't.
trekka Posted October 27, 2013 VT Supporter Share Posted October 27, 2013 (edited) Winds as predicted, pretty ferocious along the channel. I've just been told Portsmouth City Council have closed off the sea front until 9am tomorrow. Edited October 27, 2013 by trekka
