The basic idea was Advogato-style multiple levels of friendship and using that as a trust metric on top of a binary like/dislike system for content. Stated that way, it's quite far from FB, but the actual underlying system is strikingly similar.Though I've used reddit even less than facebook over the years, there was a strong reddit vibe to it, as well.
