  1. 17 year old attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey has penned his first professional contract, only says long term on the OS, doesn’t specify how long. He’s a very good footballer, gets a lot of goals from midfield, he’s got a chance
  2. Tom13

    Louie Barry

The kid who left WBA for Barca in the summer. Apparently very close to signing him.
  3. Actually thought Eric lichaj was the best youth product on show today, very composed and offered a threat even on his weaker side...definitely going to be hard for Bennett to take his place
  4. Another youngster signed a professional contract last week, Don't know much about him but think we will have some of the best youth in the country in a few seasons time. Can only be positive Aston Villa youngster Jaden Philogene-Bidace has signed a professional contract with the club. Jaden, 18, a versatile wide player who can play on either side, joined in January 2018 and became a regular for Villa’s Under-18s. He duly broke into the club’s Under-23s last season and put in some impressive performances. Congratulations on your professional deal, Jaden! https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2020/08/14/philogene-bidace-contract
  5. Surprised he didn't have his own thread yet - ah well. Thought he played very well against Liverpool and I can see why we had to fight for his signature. Reads the game very well, comfy on the ball and looked very assured.
  6. Another highly rated youth prospect through the door, who’s played for the Bournemouth first team. A substantial fee involved. I absolutely love what the owners are creating at Villa. Welcome Ajani.
  7. what is this lad 17?, 18 at the end of Jan i think, looks a physical specimen. Might be exactly what we need in the DM role...(in a year or two)
  8. I couldn't see another thread on our U23 goalie, who is now being talked up by the club (in an article that suggests we may be getting rid of Sarkic in the summer as well): 'A really good chance' - The Aston Villa rookie making a statement in training 'Aston Villa have a real gem of a goalkeeper making a big impression during first-team training sessions. That's the glowing endorsement given to young Finnish stopper Viljami Sinisalo by goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler. The 18-year-old is currently the Villa under-23 No.1 and, as it stands, fourth choice behind Pepe Reina, Orjan Nyland and Matija Sarkic. Sinisalo, a Finland international, was snapped up from his hometown club FC Espoo in the summer of 2018 - and his progression has been vast. "He's a young Finnish goalkeeper who's been around the first team," Cutler explained during Villa TV interview. "He's very calm when he's stepped in and doesn't look out of place. "It's important to keep them around the environment. If you see a young goalkeeper like Viljami who's got a really good chance to accelerate his learning, he needs to be training with the likes of Pepe Reina, Orjan, Tom and Jed. It will really help him in terms of what he needs to be doing, and to learn" Sinisalo put in a commanding performance against West Brom's under-23s at Bodymoor last week, pulling off a string of saves to keep the score at 1-0 in the first half. As for Villa's young goalkeepers, it's full Montenegro international Sarkic who's currently travelling with the first-team on match-days, taking the place of Lovre Kalinic who departed on loan during January. "Mati has come through and we sent him out on loan to Livingston to get games where he done very well," Cutler added. "It's difficult right now for the young goalkeeper because of how many very, very good goalies we have at senior level." Sarkic's deal expires in the summer and it's thought Sinisalo could be the man Villa want to stick around instead, and Cutler said: "We want to be the best goalkeeping department in the Midlands, if not the country. Goalkeepers through the system and into the first-team has to be the way forward. "We've got detailed goalkeeping coaches who believe we can do that. We don't want to be out spending millions and millions. We want to be developing our own first and foremost."' https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-sinisalo-17725254
  9. 17 year centre back signed a 2 year professional contract, it’s on the OS, very good, strong in the air and tackle, good on the ball too, he’s vocal too, as well as being a leader https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2018/07/12/dominic-revan-signs-new-deal

    Brad Young

https://www.avfc.co.uk/players/u18/bradyoung Not a player that gets mentioned a whole lot - I couldn't find a thread for him, so thought I'd start one. Anyway, he flies under the radar somewhat given the bigger names/potential stars in the U23s and U18 side but every game I've seen him in, he's done well - good technical skills, great workrate and a good athlete too; he's quick and doesn't tire easily. So far this season, he's got 13 goals and 4 assists in 17 games (16 starts) as per the link above - I'm guessing that just for the U18s. Thought he deserved a thread and some recognition!
  11. a-k

    Ákos Ónodi

Thought he was fantastic tonight. Get Emi mentoring him ASAP.
  12. Think this man deserves his own thread. Great Performance today. Villas Answer to Sergio Busquets
  13. Young Irish winger looks like he might make a debut today at Fulham. Those who've seen him play for the U23's will know he's direct, aggressive and has a bit about him. He's very young, but hopefully he gets on the pitch today and gives a good account of himself.
  14. MaVilla

    Callum Rowe

thought he did well tonight, surprised that he's actually 21....... tbh i would take him as Targetts backup over Taylor from what i have seen.
  15. Wow, didn’t see that coming, highly rated youngster apparently. Only 16, but in the England set up.
  16. New youngster. Signed from Norwich for the academy. Anyone know anything about him?
  17. Thought this deserved a thread of its own. Ticket details: https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/may/FA-Youth-Cup-Final-ticket-details/ C'mon lads, let's have 'em.
  18. He’s a Dutch player who’s position is defender, 16 years old and has 2 caps for the Netherlands U15. According to Transfermarkt.
  19. The club launches it's live coverage of the U23's today. https://www.avfc.co.uk/news/2021/february/Watch-U23s-live-on-VillaTV/ It'll be the first time games have been covered live from Bodymoor and by the sounds of things we're going to be doing it properly. A lot of fans on social media, and mostly me, have been grumbling and moaning for months about how poor our coverage has been in comparison to other clubs, and the club have now addressed that. I'd like to think that decision and the investment gets justified in terms of viewer numbers - so if you're not aware, we start today, kick off at 18:00 with a £1.99 fee that goes to the Villa foundation and local charities - it's a chance to see one of the brightest youth teams we've had in a number of years and catch up with some of the young fella's we saw against Liverpool, a chance to see Chukwuemeka, Bogarde, Kesler and maybe Philogene-Bidace - U23 games are often packed with incident and full of goals and are generally a really good watch. Give it a go. It's two quid and you're stuck in the house anyway. Thank you for helping me with my nagging guilt at being a whinger.
  20. Zatman

    Mungo Bridge

He has a great name but today he showed so much potential in defence. He and Revan kept Salah and Mane more quiet than expected, he has a great future

    Mark Delaney

To my surprise I couldn't find a thread for Mark Delaney? If I've missed it apologies and can the Mods merge. Just watched a great interview with him on AVTV. He was one of my favourite players but its struck me he's become a proper Villa Man. Great player, started coaching the under 15s on a part time basis and now in charge of The Academy with 21 years service with the club. It was a very interesting interview which I urge you to watch and shows the connectiveness flowing through the club. I didn't realise George Boateng was also coaching with him. Talked nonchalantly about their 6th place league finish. God, imagine that, Villa finishing 6th. Seems like a universe away. * His accent was funny as well. Definitely a Welshman living in Brum for too long. Anyway, I remember feeling really sad when his career was ended prematurely and delighted he's forged a post playing career in football full stop but especially with us. Mark Delaney. A Villa man. * sorry, he may not have spoken about this, I think I read it on Wikipedia after I watched the video and thought he had talked about it, but the point still stands.
  22. Haven't seen a thread for him but just came on for his debut. Good luck to him. Honestly never heard of him before from youth posts
  23. Charlie Farr has signed a professional contract. He’s a midfielder... but that’s all I know about him.
  24. I had a look around and did some searches but I couldn't really find anything on the youth team as a whole more just individual players. So who are our most exciting youth players and who are we likely to see take the step up to the first team this season. Also from other topics it is clear that we really want to loan out our youth players to play league 1 and championship football as youth football doesn't prepare them for the big leagues. I was thinking would it make sense to try and establish or purchase a B team to develop our players at. If we purchased a team that just got promoted to league 1 I imagine it might cost around 5 mil and we could loan out our most promising youngsters to them to help us develop them. Don't know if this would be allowed but the FA but Brentford have a 2nd team many foreign teams like barca and real have them as well.
