  1. So never to early to speculate and get the wish list in. I can see this being a very busy window considering how well this season has gone so far, we have a few players coming to the end of there contracts Elmo, Conor and Taylor. Realistically I don't think any will see contract extensions Conor has obviously already gone out on loan and best of luck to him. Taylor and Elmo could still both cut it in the Championship and both will leave on free in the summer. Ross Barkley's loan will end in May and chances are he will go back to Chelsea personally I don't see us signing him. So in the summer I see us needing to: Replace Barkley - Jack Grealish say hi! Sell Engels and replace with a young up and coming CB, happy to have Mings, Konsa, Hause and a n other in the squad Replace Taylor, Targett has had a good season but next season will show whether he is the real deal or not. Chances are Guilbert will be gone so guess a new RB to push Cash? A CF to push Ollie A quality left winger with pace. Thoughts?
  2. Considering so many have asked for it and he's dominating other threads here is a thread for the next Aston Villa signing a link as well https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tammy-abraham-aston-villa-transfer-20914606
  3. By popular request I'm creating the brand new fish and tits thread
  4. Juventus looking to sell. Surely one or two years left in the tank...
  5. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/cheick-doucoure-aston-villa-transfer-21263453 Also linked through GoalFrance Aston Villa are said to be "in negotiations" with the representatives of RC Lens midfielder Cheick Doucoure ahead of a possible move to the Premier League this summer, if reports from France are to be believed. Reported by Goal, Villa are competing with Italian club Atalanta for Doucoure who made 33 Ligue 1 appearances last season. Mali international Doucoure scored twice for Lens last term and helped the club secure survival in the French top-flight following promotion out of Ligue 2 the season before. Doucoure broke onto the scene in 2018 at the age of 19 when he was promoted to Lens' first-team and also made his debut for his home nation in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Gabon. French club Lens are expected to sell their star midfielder for €15million this summer, as per Goal's report which adds that Villa are yet to make a formal offer for the player.
  6. Been linked with Mario Hermoso from Atlético Madrid. He’s a good centre back, he played a fair bit last year in their title winning season. Atleti are my second team so I’d like to think I’ve seen him more than most on this forum, and he did well last season from what I remember. Thoughts?
  7. https://www.footballinsider247.com/aston-villa-cantwell-talks/ Wicked player, would love him to join. But could it be a sign Jack is off? Edit: just noticed this is a blacklist source, close thread if need be.
  8. Happy with this? Or did you still want Cantwell
  9. Agreeing with spacehead. A return of the ITK thread would be great, if not for anything else than entertainment.
  10. Percys story about Jack from this morning has been updated from the 'more to follow' it ended with earlier. This is the new bits, linking us to Sarr https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2021/07/30/exclusive-manchester-city-make-jack-grealish-transfer-bid-100million/
  11. Who would you have preferred at Villa?
  12. Reported in the Athletic that we're interested: https://theathletic.com/2611550/2021/05/28/aston-villa-are-chasing-mcneil-and-buendia-as-part-of-their-summer-transfer-plans/
  13. Athletic Please be true, real statement signing buying him off one of the supposed top 6.
  14. Figured this might be worthy of it's own thread given a couple of sources have quoted us as being interested today... I can't say I know a lot about him...
  15. Tried to find an existing thread for this but couldn't find one. First team players that we see depart Villa this summer is looking likely of: Heaton - Contract Expiring Kalinic - Sold Guillbert - Sold or Loaned Elmohamedy - Contract Expiring Engels - Sold Taylor - Contract expiring Hourihane - Sold Barkley* - Loan Ends Ramsey - Loaned out Davis - Loaned out Samatta - Sold to Fenerbache once loan ends. I also wonder if we will sell either Trezeguet or El Ghazi?
  16. Aston Villa make first move to sign Man Utd’s Axel Tuanzebe Aston Villa have now registered their interest in Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe amid a potential summer transfer move. Reports in recent weeks have claimed that the centre-back could be set for a reunion with Dean Smith, having, of course, played under the Villa boss during their time in the Championship And now, Football Insider have revealed that Villa have now made an approach for the defender by registering their interest in him and that they will make an official move for him if given the encouragement to do so. It’s added that: “Smith wants a young defender with Premier League experience to provide cover and competition for first-choice duo Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa. Tuanzebe has been targeted as he fits the profile of the recruitment team and has the potential to develop.” The £7.2m-rated centre-back has earned rave reviews for his performances for United last season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer waxing lyrical about him after he stopped PSG and Kylian Mbappe in the Champions League. He said: “Axel’s a tremendous defender, a great leader. He’s come through the academy and we’ve known for years that he’s going to be a top player for us and he’s got the character and the attitude that a Man United player should have. Sometimes you’ll get in a foot race with Mbappe and you have to run with him and we know Axel’s qualities, he’s a top defender.” Given the £50k-a-week earning ace has already played under Smith, he should be able to hit the ground running, especially with his experience of Premier League football at United too. Tuanzebe featured 35 times in his one season at Villa, including starting in the club’s Championship play-offs run that earned them promotion back to the Premier League. Villa fans will surely be buzzing at the prospect of another, young English talent heading to Villa Park and joining the likes of Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa as Smith’s impressive centre-back options, especially with Bjorn Engels’ recent departure. Good news.
  17. I know there is already a thread for this mods. Can they be merged?

    Josh King

According to our good friend Percy, we’ve launched a £16m bid for Josh King so I suppose it makes sense to open a post. The link to the Telegraph article is HERE I actually prefer King to Wilson. Whenever I’ve watched him he’s looked like he has more to his all round game than Wilson and I think he’d be a good signing at the sub £20m mark providing we bring in further competition (e.g. Watkins). That being said, the idea does lack a little creativity doesn’t it? “Oh, Wilson didnt want to join us... who else y’got?”.
  19. We are only 7 or so weeks (and 8 games) away from the winter window opening. There are numerous questions around what business we should look to do in January. Do we look to do any business (we should know that we are comfortably in the PL next season so should have at least another year of big money) or just keep our powder dry for the summer knowing that we won't be getting relegated and then go again next summer when it is possibly easier to make better signings? Does it depend upon where we are in the table? If we do, how many and any specific positions and/or targets? If we do, who drops out of the current 25? Would it be a good time to try and secure Barkley on a permanent deal and buy out DL's buyback clause? The one signing that springs to mind for me is Rashica. He didn't come in the summer, supposedly because he didn't want to be involved in another relegation fight. Hopefully, we will be able to demonstrate to him that this is no longer in the equation and European qualification is a possibility, even more so with his help. He would be perfect, from what I have seen, in rotation/substitution/resting with Jack and Barkley. His price at c. €20m is also not unreasonable. If we could do this, I would look to offload AEG. In my dream world we also get a back up box to box midfielder to cover SJM and a left back to cover Targett but I expect we would have to wait until next summer for these two.
  20. Early days I know but with players being told about their futures today and tomorrow then we should have a good idea about what squad we have left and what gaps are to be filled in due course. I reckon by 1st June this will be our squad remaining. I will assume that Gardner, McCormack, Tshibola won't get a look in. I am confident we will sign at least Hause and El Ghazi and most probably Mings but I will leave him out for now. GKs Steer Kalinic Nyland RBs Elmo Guiilbert Bree LBs Taylor CBs Chester Hause RM Adomah Green LM El Ghazi CM Grealish McGinn Hourihane Lansbury Thor CF Kodjia Davis Hogan Questions: 1. Who would you sell? 2. Anyone with expiring contract that you would retain? (I have assumed Steer will stay) 3. What positions are key? For me: 1. Adomah, Lansbury, Thor, Hogan 2. Only Steer - no room for sentiment so no Whelan for me 3. LB, CB, DM, RM and ST - Ming is the obvious one for CB but we will still need to sign another 1 or 2 depending on Chester. LB needs to be a big signing, a modern full back. DM is the key position as Hourihane is a great option but we need better in the PL imo. RM - Lolley, Bowen etc. Striker - I wouldn't go for Abraham personally. Maupay for me.
  21. Too soon? Ah well. Linked with Crystal Palace Norwegian striker Alexander Sörloth who is on loan at Trabzonspor in Turkey and having a great season. He certainly fits our profile as he's previously played in Belgium and we have been linked to tons of players from the Turkish league. Probably not thou, right.
