  1. Apparently we have tabled an E18m bid for the Bordeaux striker. Speculation in Uraguyan news and a few other sources https://translate.google.ie/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.republica.com.uy%2Faston-villa-ofrece-18-millones-de-euros-por-diego-rolan%2F527502%2F&edit-text=&act=url Don't know much about him personally but that seems like a fair chunk of cash.
  2. Aston Villa to swoop for £10m-rated West Ham and Stoke target ASTON VILLA want Rennes flyer Paul-Georges Ntep in a £10million deal. The France international has been chased by West Ham and Stoke but has been holding out for a team competing in Europe. However, Villa want to impress upon him their ambition after signing other French League players Idrissa Gueye, Jordan Amavi and Jordan Ayew from Lorient. Boss Tim Sherwood is signing Emmanuel Adebayor from Tottenham and wanted Andros Townsend, but the England international is keen to stay at White Hart Lane. Sherwood maintains an interest in Manchester United’s Ashley Young but Ntep is young, quick and with good sell-on potential. Ntep has been a target for Arsenal and QPR in recent seasons while Tottenham have considered reviving their interest too. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/455918/Aston-Villa-swoop-10m-rated-Rennes-Paul-Georges-Ntep
  3. Being in as-of-now-not-blacklisted The Sun it seems this potentially very interesting transfer remits its own thread. Since The Sun is sitting nicely behind a pay wall I quote Tribal Football, presumably taking it from the Sun: The Sun additionally reports that he's recently gotten a sniff at the Dutch national side. The 27-year-old used to be a winger but was converted into a central goal-scoring midfielder. InsideFutbol.com quotes Dutch magazine Voetbal International as well: The obligatory Youtube compilation. He seems to suit Tim's preferred direct style of play very well, so it seems perfectly logical that we'll be interested. Tbf, everything below £5 mill seems like a major coup to me. At the very least, these kinds of players (when they're not n'Zogbia) can be very fun to watch!

  5. In the rags again today so I thought it may warrant its own thread. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/tottenham-transfers-swansea-join-aston-5914785
  6. Reckon here that we have been holding talks with Florin Andone. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3053034/Aston-Villa-strike-bargain-La-Liga-outfit-Cordoba-striker-Florin-Andone.html http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-who-florin-andone-9107490
  7. According to Ekstra Bladet (Danish newspaper) Aston Villa have a made a 15 mil (Danish kroner) bid on Nicolai Boilsen… but according to Duch newpapers Ajax wants 20 mil (Danish kroner) Ekstra Bladet have talked to his agent Kenny Boilsen, who says that he can’t commented on it, they just have to wait.... He has one year left on his contract in Ajax Link http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbold/udenlandsk_fodbold/engelsk_fodbold/PremierLeague/aston-villa-byder-paa-boilesen/5628126
  8. So as the season comes to an end (hopefully with finally winning some silverware) Tim has a big job rebuilding the squad. What areas do you think need strengthening? Who should stay and go? For me we desperately need a good left back, and potentially a goal keeper to challenge Guzan. I think Guzan should be kept as he has made a couple errors but in my eyes still a very good keeper. Think we need a creative midfielder as have question marks over Nzogbia, and Gil looks to be out of favour with Sherwood. Obviously the big question is if Tekkers stays as if he leaves we will need a couple strikers in my eyes. I would try get rid of Luna, Bennett, Richardson, Senderos and N Zogbia. I would consider getting rid of (this may be controversial) Baker. Too injury prone and I dont really rate him. I would release Vlaar and Bent too. Vlaar won't be worth the big wage she will want now he is a free agent So yeah add a couple centre backs to the list as well!
  9. I presume SSN aren't a blacklisted source? Decent striker.
  10. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/434729/EXCLUSIVE-Aston-Villa-Italy-Alessandro-Diamanti
  11. Apparently we are after ex Liverpool goalkeeper Martin Hansen. Was article in the Sun newspaper as well today http://www.calciomercato.it/news/324302/aston-villa-occhi-su-hansen.html
  12. Been in a few papers and online sources last few days. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/transfer-rumours/2015/03/24/transfer-rumours-march-24/ http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/03/22/report-aston-villa-west-ham-eye-summer-bids-for-charlie-austin/

  14. Rumours in Polish online sources are we are after this winger for GKS. 19 goals in 65 appearances for them http://www.psnfutbol.com/2015/03/17/aston-villa-keeping-tabs-on-michal-mak/
  15. In a couple of Spanish Websites that we are after Leo Baptistao who is a striker for Rayo Vallecano on loan from Atletico Madrid. http://www.tuttomercatoweb.com/europa/atletico-madrid-leo-baptistao-nel-mirino-dell-aston-villa-656204 http://hereisthecity.com/en-gb/2015/03/11/report-aston-villa-interested-in-move-for-atletico-madrid-stri/page/1/
  16. We stay up - just, with 34 points on the board. Five days after the season, Lerner announces he has sold the club to a Qatari group. They come in and say there is a 'lot of money to spend, and Aston Villa will compete at the top.' You're appointed as scout for Tim Sherwood, as he starts his first full season in charge with 50m in his pocket. Who do you suggest we sign?
  17. Okay guys, this is not a relegation thread or when Randy will be leaving or when a new manager will arrive. It is just a question if anyone knows which of our current squad will be out of contract come June 2015. I am aware of the obvious ones in Vlaar, Bent & Delph but do we have any others set to be OOC?
  18. We need new manager. If I should pick up the phone, I would call Olof Mellberg.
  19. Well it's nearly that time of year again, so to get the ball rolling from the Mirror (I know)... http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-could-recruit-fiorentinas-4678022 Aston Villa could recruit Fiorentina's Josip Ilicic when January transfer window opens. The Slovenian midfielder is out of favour in Florence and the Italian side could be set to cut their losses after signing him for £6.5million in 2012 Aston Villa boss Paul Lambert is being offered Slovenia midfielder Josip Ilicic in January, writes Tom Hopkinson in Sunday People Sport . The 26-year-old has fallen out of favour with Fiorentina fans and the club are looking to move him on in the new year. Italian side Torino are also keen but the player has still not decided what his next move will be. Ilicic joined Fiorentina from Palermo in 2012 for around £6.5million but now the Florence-based club will let him leave on loan in January with first option to buy him for around £3.5m next summer. The midfielder has racked up 26 appearances for his country since his debut four years ago.
  20. 22-year-old French striker Michaël Jordan Nkololo has joined Aston Villa from Ligue 2 side Clermont Foot (Yacouba Sylla's previous team) on a one-week trial ahead of a possible permanent move. http://www.sportbougnat.fr/jordan-nkololo-teste-par-le-club-anglais-d-aston-villa-122/

  22. As the overwhelming majority of fans (on VT at least) now seem to be in favour of sacking Lambert, the question now emerges of who would we replace him with if he did go? To save clogging up the Lambert thread I thought we could put the discussion here. So, even if you don't agree that it's the right decision, in the hypothetical scenario that Lambert is sacked tomorrow, who would you replace him with? (Obviously I'm talking within the realms of reality here. Who could we attract?)
  23. From the Mail...http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/premierleague/article-2839286/Lewis-MacLeod-tracked-Aston-Villa-Rangers-starlet-gears-England-clash.html Lewis MacLeod tracked by Aston Villa as Rangers starlet gears up for England clash Villa scouts watched MacLeod in Rangers 1-1 draw with Alloa The 20-year-old could feature on the bench for Scotland against England By Simon Jones for MailOnline Aston Villa are monitoring 20-year-old Rangers starlet Lewis MacLeod. Club scouts saw him impress against Alloa Athletic on Saturday in the Scottish Championship match and he created Rangers’ goal in a 1-1 draw which keeps them in the hunt for a third successive automatic promotion. The midfielder gained his first call-up to the full Scotland squad for the qualifier against Ireland last week and tonight’s friendly clash with England but was released by Gordon Strachan to play for his club on Saturday. Know nothing about him, worth a punt?
  24. Sorry if this has been posted already...from the Mirror http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-plot-swoop-jonas-4635520 Aston Villa plot swoop for Jonas Olsson as replacement for Manchester United target Ron Vlaar The 6ft 4ins Swede, 31, has been frozen out at West Brom since the arrival of former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott Switch: Could former Jonas Olsson cross from West Brom to Midlands rivals Aston Villa? Aston Villa could raid neighbours West Brom for former captain Jonas Olsson if they lose the fight to keep their own skipper Ron Vlaar. The 6ft 4ins Swede, 31, has been out of Albion’s first-team plans since September when former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott took over. And he would give Villa a ready-made answer in January if they are unable to hold off Manchester United’s interest in Dutch World Cup star Vlaar. Villa boss Paul Lambert has the backing of owner Randy Lerner to turn down United, even though it means he could lose his captain for nothing in the summer. But with contract talks failing to even get started, and Vlaar’s agent warning this week that it was time for his client to find “a nice big move”, he will find it hard to block United boss Louis van Gaal’s approaches. I'd rather keep Vlaar personally, never rated Olsson.
  25. Apparently we are trying to get Dempsey on a loan deal. He was great during the world cup, but apparently has been average in the MLS. He can't really be worse than what we currently have though. http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/27/report-clint-dempsey-heading-back-to-premier-league-on-loan/
