  1. Discuss ... I realise we have so many big problems to worry about right now, but I can't help but begin to think that January represents a possible ladder out of hell for us. We need a striker or number 10, a keeper, and a center back, from what I can see.
  2. Loan to end of the season. Few papers running it so someone's been tipped off. May be at the game tonight (that's me speculating). http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-debuchy-10744251

    Loic Remy

Should he not get his own thread now? Been rumoured for weeks and now our manager has confirmed he's on our list of targets. I don't think he'll keep us up...he couldn't keep QPR up when he joined mid season in 2012-13 despite them being in a better position. He's a good striker but not that good. That said he was what we needed at the start of the season, lots of pace and and can score in 6 yard box. Him and Ayew would be a good combination imo and fun to watch, we might actually win a game before the end of the season. Would still class it as a long shot, I doubt Chelsea will even loan him out just because Bamford has come back as he made little impact at Palace. He'll probably end up here instead. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35198358
  5. better than what we have but a http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/12059837/Aston-Villa-to-launch-6.5m-bid-for-Evertons-Steven-Naismith.html Byram could be a good signing as well
  6. Oh Tim signing your Spurs rejects. oh wait http://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/10101592/premier-league-clubs-interested-in-january-loan-for-tottenhams-andros-townsend

    New manager

It's looking increasingly likely that Tim will be gone by Monday. Who does everyone want next?
  8. Tottenham have released Adebayor on a free. As he hasn't played for them, or been registered for them, I believe he is free to sign for another club. I wonder if he might finally come here? Didn't Sherwood make some comments about him yesterday? - We can confirm that we've reached a mutual agreement with @E_Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/emmanuel-adebayor-130915/ "We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Emmanuel Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club." - Sherwood comments (12/9): http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/9989496/tim-sherwood-would-welcome-emmanuel-adebayor-to-aston-villa "Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says he would sign Emmanuel Adebayor "in a heartbeat" if the striker wanted to leave Tottenham."

  10. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-aston-villa-target-ahmed-6443206 Linked with Ahmed Elmohamady... Steve Bruce is ready to let Ahmed Elmohamady leave for the Premier League. Leicester, Swansea, Everton and Aston Villa will fight to sign Hull’s £5million-rated winger when the January transfer window opens up. The Egypt international is keen to make a quick return to the top flight following City’s relegation last May, and a source confirmed: ”The player is expected to leave Hull in January. “Several offers have been received from Premier League clubs who are interested in Ahmed because of his experience, and he prefers to continue his English journey.” And Tigers boss Bruce, preparing for a trip to Cardiff on Tuesday, confirmed: “I won’t stand in his way. Elmo is in the final year of his contract with us, and the last thing we would want is to lose him on a free next summer. Ideally, we want him to stay for longer and we intend to talk to him about signing a new long-term deal. And, while he is here, he’s got to knuckle down and respect the contract he has got with us. “He is just one of several players we’ve got who are desperate to play in the Premier League, and why wouldn’t they be? I want to manage in the Premier League. “But you have got to accept that we’ve been relegated and, together, it’s up to us to put that right.” Hull need to stay in contention for a first-time promotion back to the big time to have any chance of holding on to Elmohamady, who makes his 101st consecutive league start for the Tigers on Tuesday night.
  11. Guess it's time for this thread again - seeing as the one last year was opened in March. Linked with Diego from Fenerbache today in The Metro (blacklisted so couldn't start a thread about it) http://metro.co.uk/2015/04/13/aston-villa-cleared-to-make-transfer-bid-for-fenerbache-midfielder-diego-5148535/ Nothing pertinent there but imagine signing him - that'd be the most exciting signing we'd made in years, for me.
  12. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11835389/Aston-Villa-back-in-for-Emmanuel-Adebayor.html John Percy, FYI... I think this counts as "news".
  13. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/594475/Exclusive-Dimitar-Berbatov-Aston-Villa-Transfer-News One of my favourite players so I'd be chuffed to see him here. Not sure if it's sensible, but...
  14. Linked to him with many media outlets, this being one of them: http://Adem Ljajic I must admit that when I saw the headline on the SSN site - "Villa open talks with Ljajic" - I thought David Villa was looking to join a new Serbian club or something.
  15. Assuming we sign Gestede, Veretout and Adebayor, how does everyone see us lining up on the first day of season?? Not the team you would pick, the team that you think will start the match, and no hedging your bets, just pick 11 players and a formation.... I think as follows - Bunn Hutton Richards Clark Amavi Gueye Veretout Sinclair Grealish Ayew Adebayor
  16. Seems as if this is becoming more likely, so thought its own topic was worthy. If we can sort it so it's not financially a burden, and given how sherwood got him playing brilliantly again, I think he could be a good signing. UTV. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3167088/Aston-Villa-open-talks-Tottenham-Emmanuel-Adebayor.html "Aston Villa have opened talks with Tottenham over the proposed transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor. Manager Tim Sherwood has earmarked the 31-year-old as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Christian Benteke. Tottenham want around £4million for Adebayor but the stumbling block is his wages of £100,000-a-week. Villa hope to arrange a deal where bonuses can supplement Adebayor's wages."
  17. Sky Sports just confirming we are in for Fonte. Southampton going for Van Dijk and would need to come in first. Interesting one, had a good season last year. Thought he was highly regarded down there.
  18. Lots and lots of links going around about us signing Keita. Seen a few threads open (and get locked) so thought I'd start one Read more: http://metro.co.uk/2015/08/13/aston-villa-make-7-8m-transfer-offer-for-keita-balde-diao-5341705/#ixzz3ihqLWe1e So what do we think the chances are? The link doesn't seem to be going away so could be something in it I guess?
  19. Looks like we're bidding again http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/11714915/Aston-Villa-transfer-news-Sherwood-bids-7million-bid-for-Dennis-Praet-and-closes-in-on-Idrissa-Gueye.html
  20. On the verge of sighning apparently. http://metro.co.uk/2015/08/08/aston-villa-close-on-5million-aaron-lennon-transfer-5333329/
  21. Ok, so we've been touted as one of the clubs looking to sign him on a bosman this summer in quite a few outlets over the last week. Now The Mirror (along with The Daily Star) have gone further and claim we have effectively won the race: http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-set-complete-free-5556087
  22. Apparently we have tabled an E18m bid for the Bordeaux striker. Speculation in Uraguyan news and a few other sources https://translate.google.ie/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.republica.com.uy%2Faston-villa-ofrece-18-millones-de-euros-por-diego-rolan%2F527502%2F&edit-text=&act=url Don't know much about him personally but that seems like a fair chunk of cash.
  23. Aston Villa to swoop for £10m-rated West Ham and Stoke target ASTON VILLA want Rennes flyer Paul-Georges Ntep in a £10million deal. The France international has been chased by West Ham and Stoke but has been holding out for a team competing in Europe. However, Villa want to impress upon him their ambition after signing other French League players Idrissa Gueye, Jordan Amavi and Jordan Ayew from Lorient. Boss Tim Sherwood is signing Emmanuel Adebayor from Tottenham and wanted Andros Townsend, but the England international is keen to stay at White Hart Lane. Sherwood maintains an interest in Manchester United’s Ashley Young but Ntep is young, quick and with good sell-on potential. Ntep has been a target for Arsenal and QPR in recent seasons while Tottenham have considered reviving their interest too. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/455918/Aston-Villa-swoop-10m-rated-Rennes-Paul-Georges-Ntep
  24. Being in as-of-now-not-blacklisted The Sun it seems this potentially very interesting transfer remits its own thread. Since The Sun is sitting nicely behind a pay wall I quote Tribal Football, presumably taking it from the Sun: The Sun additionally reports that he's recently gotten a sniff at the Dutch national side. The 27-year-old used to be a winger but was converted into a central goal-scoring midfielder. InsideFutbol.com quotes Dutch magazine Voetbal International as well: The obligatory Youtube compilation. He seems to suit Tim's preferred direct style of play very well, so it seems perfectly logical that we'll be interested. Tbf, everything below £5 mill seems like a major coup to me. At the very least, these kinds of players (when they're not n'Zogbia) can be very fun to watch!
