  1. 23 year old right winger, according to Transfermarkt. Seems we're interested, and we might even have submitted the first bid already. https://sportwitness.co.uk/aston-villa-continue-negotiations-signing-making-offer-villans-proposal-e7m-short/
  2. This may have already been discussed and is probably unpopular, but I'm thinking more and more recently that we should bite the bullet and buy a brown field close to the City Centre and build a new ground. Wouldn't have to worry about attendances while it was being built and the other issues of facilities, traffic and transport links are no longer an issue. Town already has fantastic infrastructure and facilities. I love Villa Park, don't get me wrong, but getting in and out and watching every game is between 8-10 hours of my day. The area is a dog hole and I'm embarrassed for the experience we must give away fans. No wonder they all look down on us the way that they do. Arsenal and City did it. Everton are doing it. Loads of others have already done it too. I think we can be over sentimental about these things. Villa just don't feel linked to that area of Birmingham for me, they may have been back in the day, but it's plain to see how the area has changed around the ground and I doubt there are too many Villa fans living within walking distance. Interested to hear what others think?
  3. If, as conjectured we need to sell a Crown Jewel in the summer. If we get good bids, relative to the players value. Who do you sell?
  4. Looks like his average is 3/4 years in any one job which is a worry but we do seem to be fluffing his bed
  5. Shame so much land is taken over by large logistics warehouses around Fort Dunlop and the like… Also as I’ve said before hypothetically if we were to move to a new stadium, aesthetically I’d like us to use the Lucas Oil stadium as a blueprint. It has a connected lower bowl but then also the 4 separate stand identity with a red brick exterior.
  6. Where is this ground going to be with 2 x mainline railway stations on its doorstep and immediately off a motorway junction? Does Anfield have this? The location is actually great. Only The NEC would make sense to move from where we are now.
  7. Assuming Southgate leaves after Euro 2024, who would you like and who would you bet on? I think I might have a cheeky punt on Eddie Howe, who I think might be out of work by then. Not my dream appointment but think he could do a job since we have a deep squad and his tactics usually require it.
  8. Well since Christmas decorations are starting to go up in town I guess we might as well start.
  9. Why haven't we bought anyone yet?! Everyone out! Am I doing this right?
  10. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2023/08/15/aston-villa-verge-signing-nicolo-zaniolo-marcos-acuna/ Percy has spoken. Think that's more than enough to give it legs.
  11. It's Monday, and we're all a little bit bored. So, given it's seemingly between Doku and Diaby for who our next wideman is going to be....who would you choose?
  12. It’s what I do! But seriously, I can’t see us messing around with Leverkusen. If they’re starting a bidding war, I think we’ll happily move to Doku.
  13. Italian Newspaper Gazzetta Del A Sport are reporting we've made a 25m Euro offer for Attacking Midfielder/Second Striker Charles De Ketelaere - 22yo Belgian. Article link is here: https://www.gazzetta.it/Calcio/Calciomercato/Milan/13-07-2023/milan-de-ketelaere-in-uscita-l-aston-villa-offre-25-milioni.shtml# Bullet points from the translation: Milan asking for/likely to ask for 30m euros plus bonuses/sell-on clauses. He was a very highly regarded prospect before joining AC Milan last summer where it's not gone well for him at all. With Pulisic moving to Milan, it appears De Ketelaere is being told he can leave for the right price.
  14. Who should or who do we think Unai will appoint as our long term captain next season?
  15. Wes

    Tyler Adams

  16. Villans eyeing Alex Baena Aston Villa are interested in signing another Villarreal player, with attacking midfielder Alex Baena a target for Monchi and Unai Emery. It now looks as if NSWE are close to breaking their club’s transfer record to sign Villarreal defender Pau Torres, with the centre-back previously making over 100 appearances under Emery. Talks are progressing smoothly over a deal for the 26-year-old, and it seems as if he could be joined by a teammate in Baena. Sport Witness relayed an update from Spanish outlet AS regarding Baena in the last 48 hours. They claimed that Aston Villa and Barcelona are the two sides who are ‘most interested’ in signing the player this summer, with Baena described as one of the ‘revelations’ of the La Liga side last season. Emery considers Baena as a ‘strategic signing’ for Aston Villa and a transfer could cost those at Villa Park around €50m (£42.5m). Who is Alex Baena? Baena is 21 years of age and is primarily an attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing if needed and appears to be going from strength to strength, with his Transfermarkt valuation now at a career-high €20m. The Spain U21 international has progressed through Villarreal’s youth system and actually shares the same agency as Villa defender Ezri Konsa. He has scored 14 goals and registered 12 assists in 69 Villarreal first-team appearances, with 18 of those goal contributions coming in 36 games under Emery. Hailed as “spectacular” in the media last season, Baena would offer plenty of versatility to Emery’s squad, with FBref comparing him to Manchester City star Kevin de Bruyne and Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard. FBref rank Baena in the 99th percentile for midfielders when it comes to through balls and shots, so he could be a really exciting signing both in the short and long run at Villa Park, and by the looks of it, he could follow Torres from Villarreal to Villa. Interesting...
  17. Probably a slightly higher chance that this one happens than the Lionel Messi thread. But just casually the front-runner to sign a 3x Champions League winner in his prime with several dozen caps for Spain? Really shows how far we've come as a club so quickly.
  18. Matt is well respected at the club and has proper sources. This is on it seems, especially when they go down.. I’ll be honest, we have a LOT of money, if this is the best we can find, I’d be disappointed.
