  1. Aston Villa is pleased to announce the signing of Tim Iroegbunam. The midfielder, 18, joins Villa's Academy from West Bromwich Albion, where he came through the ranks after joining their Under-8s. Iroegbunam has attended England age group training camps in the past and Academy manager Mark Harrison believes he has a bright future. Harrison said: “Tim is an athletic midfielder who is technically very good. “He has the ability to play as a holding midfielder or a box-to-box midfielder, who can contribute in both penalty areas. “Tim has a lot of potential and we look forward to seeing him develop over the next few years.” AVFC

    Matty Cash

Seeing as Matty Cash is to my knowledge the first player this window we have apparently bid for I thought it would be worth adding a thread for him. https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-10m-bid-rejected-18847570
  4. Just signed from Brugge apparently. €25m. Out of nowhere.
  5. A very reliable journalist here - Things could be Marvelous, soon.
  6. Surprised he didn't have his own thread yet - ah well. Thought he played very well against Liverpool and I can see why we had to fight for his signature. Reads the game very well, comfy on the ball and looked very assured.
  7. Another highly rated youth prospect through the door, who’s played for the Bournemouth first team. A substantial fee involved. I absolutely love what the owners are creating at Villa. Welcome Ajani.

    Jed Steer

"He will also add Norwich City goalkeeper Jed Steer, 20, who becomes a free agent on July 1, to a firmament of four including Brad Guzan, Shay Given and Benji Siegrist." "Bringing in Jed will also add to the goalkeeping department and helps with everyone pushing one another, learning from one another and making everyone better and wanting to improve." http://mobile.avfc.co.uk/default.aspx?s=news-display&aid=3220876 Formerly of Norwich City, albeit not making a first team appearance, Jed Steer will reunite with Lambo here at Villa by the looks of it. No official statement on him that I can see, maybe not until July 1st, but they've slipped it into the news story above so I guess its finalized that Jed Steer will be our new number 2 and our 6th signing of the Summer. Welcome I guess!
  9. what is this lad 17?, 18 at the end of Jan i think, looks a physical specimen. Might be exactly what we need in the DM role...(in a year or two)
  10. 17 year old central midfielder impressing in our training sessions according to Birmingham Live. I saw him for our u16s last season, he’s brilliant, dynamic and explosive, glides across the pitch. He’s the brother of Jacob who is now performing brilliantly on loan at Doncaster Rovers. There is also a third brother called Cole who is younger than the other 2
  11. I couldn't see another thread on our U23 goalie, who is now being talked up by the club (in an article that suggests we may be getting rid of Sarkic in the summer as well): 'A really good chance' - The Aston Villa rookie making a statement in training 'Aston Villa have a real gem of a goalkeeper making a big impression during first-team training sessions. That's the glowing endorsement given to young Finnish stopper Viljami Sinisalo by goalkeeping coach Neil Cutler. The 18-year-old is currently the Villa under-23 No.1 and, as it stands, fourth choice behind Pepe Reina, Orjan Nyland and Matija Sarkic. Sinisalo, a Finland international, was snapped up from his hometown club FC Espoo in the summer of 2018 - and his progression has been vast. "He's a young Finnish goalkeeper who's been around the first team," Cutler explained during Villa TV interview. "He's very calm when he's stepped in and doesn't look out of place. "It's important to keep them around the environment. If you see a young goalkeeper like Viljami who's got a really good chance to accelerate his learning, he needs to be training with the likes of Pepe Reina, Orjan, Tom and Jed. It will really help him in terms of what he needs to be doing, and to learn" Sinisalo put in a commanding performance against West Brom's under-23s at Bodymoor last week, pulling off a string of saves to keep the score at 1-0 in the first half. As for Villa's young goalkeepers, it's full Montenegro international Sarkic who's currently travelling with the first-team on match-days, taking the place of Lovre Kalinic who departed on loan during January. "Mati has come through and we sent him out on loan to Livingston to get games where he done very well," Cutler added. "It's difficult right now for the young goalkeeper because of how many very, very good goalies we have at senior level." Sarkic's deal expires in the summer and it's thought Sinisalo could be the man Villa want to stick around instead, and Cutler said: "We want to be the best goalkeeping department in the Midlands, if not the country. Goalkeepers through the system and into the first-team has to be the way forward. "We've got detailed goalkeeping coaches who believe we can do that. We don't want to be out spending millions and millions. We want to be developing our own first and foremost."' https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-sinisalo-17725254
  12. S*n report Thought him worth his own thread at this point. As a side note, every player I have started a thread for has signed, eventually!
  13. Reports just now we have agreed a 11m € fee for him. I have absolutely no idea how good or bad he is. Trezeguet developments
  14. Telegraph reporter Sam Wallace reporting that this deal will go through soon. 14m ish on the fee. Good young English left back, seems decent business to me. Although, some Saints fans saying it’s a good deal for them. Let’s see how it goes.
  15. Do we have a Hause thread? I'm starting a Hause thread. Finally signing today it looks like. Anyone know how he is as a player? Wolves fans seem to like him.
  16. There are quite a few players we think are rubbish, but how about the good ones? Not necessarily Gardwood, Cristiano Ronaldo, Agüero or Messi, just the ones the scout in you would recommend (preferably in lower and foreign leagues). I'll start with Bernardo Silva. He's not big, he's not fast but he is special.
  17. Ok time for a new thread. There’s been a credible link to us taking Barkley from Chelsea’s crowd of midfielders. I think he’d be a fantastic signing for where we currently are, particularly if there is an option to buy. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2020/09/23/aston-villa-consider-loan-move-chelseas-ross-barkley/amp/
  18. Reported in the Athletic that we're interested: https://theathletic.com/2611550/2021/05/28/aston-villa-are-chasing-mcneil-and-buendia-as-part-of-their-summer-transfer-plans/
  19. Athletic Please be true, real statement signing buying him off one of the supposed top 6.
  20. 17 year old attacking midfielder Jacob Ramsey has penned his first professional contract, only says long term on the OS, doesn’t specify how long. He’s a very good footballer, gets a lot of goals from midfield, he’s got a chance
  21. Looks like this one will be happening (but we won't see him until next season) https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/defender-having-medical-ahead-5m-15760969
  22. 17 year centre back signed a 2 year professional contract, it’s on the OS, very good, strong in the air and tackle, good on the ball too, he’s vocal too, as well as being a leader https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2018/07/12/dominic-revan-signs-new-deal

    Ezri Konsa

Thought it might be worth a thread as Sky are reporting on it? Aston Villa are closing in on the £12million signing of Brentford centre-back Ezri Konsa, Sky Sports News understands.
  24. More and more reports of him coming to Villa now. He deserves his own thread, seeing as Kalvin Phillips has one and he never signed.
