  1. KKK sympathizer shoots a bunch of people in a church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. 10ish dead.
  2. EDIT 2130 GMT - the Mayor has now declared the incident a terrorist attack. So far 8 people are reported killed, with multiple casualties. Reports emerging that a truck has struck several people, notably cyclists, in Manhattan. At the same time shots have been fired and NYPD are reporting at least two people are dead. I've inadvertently just clicked on a tweet that was showing footage of the aftermath, and it doesn't look like a regular car accident... The below was the first news I saw. Don't click the link, as a few tweets below is the footage.
  3. Man with sawn-off shotgun takes hostages at Nuneaton bowling alley Warwickshire Police have confirmed they are dealing with an 'ongoing incident' at Bermuda Park, and called for people to steer clear. Witnesses have claimed that man is armed with a sawn-off shotgun. One man has tweeted: "Odeon Cinema in Nuneaton, Warwickshire on lockdown man inside has taken hostages. Police have closed the area." According to eye-witness Dean Rogers, access to the site has been blocked by police and there are up to 30 armed officers at the scene. All roads into Bermuda Park have been blocked by police, according to reports on Twitter. The neighbouring soft play centre is on lockdown as well. Another eye-witness Geoff Barkeley was at the cinema watching Blade Runner along with his family when the lights went out and staff moved the audience to another screen. Warwickshire Police tweeted: “Officers are currently dealing with an ongoing incident at Bermuda Park, #Nuneaton. Please avoid the area.” Another witness said on Twitter that a both a police helicopter and air ambulance were circling in the air above the venue. Visitor Lloyd Weightman, who was with his two sons, told the Coventry Telegraph he saw a man with a shotgun at the bowling alley, who told him to "get the f*** out". Bermuda Park is an out of town leisure park with an Odean cinema, children’s soft play centre, Nuffield Health gym, Holiday Inn hotel and pubs and restaurants. The park is two miles south of Nuneaton town centre just a stones throw from the M6 in the Midlands. One witness to events wrote on Twitter: “I can see the police helicopter yeah I think they've locked people in the Odeon cinema I was on about going there today to watch the new Snowman thriller film ! Heard guys taken hostages in the bowling place and police have blocked all roads from Bedworth into Nuneaton.” Twitter user Laura tweeted: "All roads into bermuda are blocked by police. Just happened as we drove past 5 mins ago. Helicopter above." Gary Cockerill tweeted: "Apparently man armed with sawn off taken hostages in bowling alley". Replying to Warwickshire Police's post about the "ongoing incident" on Twitter, Paul Edgington said: "I'm stuck in the cinema. Are we safe? How long are we expected to be locked down?" http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/869684/nuneaton-bowling-alley-odeon-hostages-shotgun-gun-warwickshire
  4. The biggest leak in history probably deserves it's own thread. Big wigs are getting named and shamed by the day now, with the new FIFA prez under scrutiny...FIFA needs to be purged of it's entire senior level personal, there was no way this new guy had clean hands.
  5. Several people have been injured after a car reportedly mounted the pavement and hit pedestrians in a busy tourist area in west London. Police descended on an area outside the Natural History Museum in South Kensington on Saturday. Scotland Yard said officers were called to reports of a collision at 2.20pm in Exhibition Road. A man was arrested at the scene, police said. A Met Police spokesman said: "It is believed that a number of pedestrians have been injured. "Officers are on scene, and the London Ambulance Service have been called. "A man has been arrested at the scene. "Enquiries to establish the circumstances and motive are underway." https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/south-kensington-police-descend-on-area-outside-natural-history-museum-after-car-hits-pedestrians-a3652986.html
  6. Hope noone on here is affected. Someone i know flew out for their wedding yesterday, with 26 of their mates/family due to fly out over the next few days before the wedding on Sunday. Worst nightmare. Quite surprised i havent seen a news article yet mentioning the amount of people who will lose their jobs over this. Losing a holiday seems a small inconvenience compared to presumably thousands losing their jobs in the run up to christmas.
  7. Earlier explosion at Parsons Green tube station has been declared by the MET as a terror related incident.
  8. maqroll

So...not only is their president a homicidal maniac, but the lid they had on their jihadist population has been blown right off with the Manila attack. Troubling to see a new ISIS type front open up in Asia. Indonesia and Malaysia will be watching this very closely I think. USA has a military base there too. Tense times.
  9. Can see nobody discussing this. Can Brum get Channel 4? Do people want Channel 4?
  10. Unfortunately named torch tower is in flames again. (Same tower that was on fire in 2015) More coverage on all news outlets/paper websites <br />
  11. With news still emerging of a "ransomware" attack on the systems of the NHS, and something similar happening to Telefonica and other Spanish companies today, it seems that cyber-related issues are becoming a growing problem. Whilst the above cases could have occurred accidentally rather than being targeted, if you look at the suggestions around Russian interference in the US election, the ability of some companies to make realistic social media "bots" who will push particular rhetoric (it's been claimed this may have influenced the results of the EU referendum and the US vote) and WikiLeaks - is cyber warfare now becoming a major player in global politics / life in general? Or is it just the latest media focus?
  12. So apparently someone has gone berserk with a chainsaw in the streets of Schaffhausen Switzerland. Anyone got any more details? http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/swiss-attack-schaffhausen-injured-man-suspect-police-serious-northern-a7856921.html
  13. Needs its own thread as it's a big issue now. What are everybody's opinions? I think we need to do more as a nation. Humanity before nationality.
  14. So what's happening outside the houses of parliament atm? People shot, Westminster locked down, a man with a knife inside the palace grounds? Anyone got any more details?
  15. Apparently some woman has now driven into people coming out of Eid celebrations in Newcastle. Could be an accident. 7 people injured, 2 seriously. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/news/local-news/pedestrians-collision-newcastle-westgate-road-13235613
  16. Didn't know where to put this as I don't think it's ISIS, but apparently a van has just plowed through 10 people in Finsbury Park.
  17. BBC news reporting white van mounted pavement hitting at least six pedestrians. Police boats currently searching the river for missing pedestrians. Sky news reporting possible stabbing attack but BBC making no mention of it so fingers crossed that's just speculation. Here's hoping it's nothing terror related, that horrible deja vu from Westminster bridge at the moment.
  18. CNN reporting an incident at Notre Dame cathedral in Paris. Police have tweeted for civilians to stay away from the area.
  19. Seems like there have been three explosions around the Dortmund team bus, with Marc Bartra injured and taken to hospital. The club have tweeted that it's a bomb. The match has been postponed until tomorrow night. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39572434
  20. Breaking news of a truck crashing into a crowd of people in Sweden.
  21. Shooting at an elementary school in San Bernardino, CA Stop killing each other you clearings in the woods.
  22. To quote It has been drafted in secret, but many of those that are party to its creation, whilst sworn to secrecy on its contents, have major misgivings about the powers that it seems to hand to big business. As far as lobbying goes - For every meeting involving public interest groups, there were 20 funded by big business. No wonder they want to keep it quiet. However word has got out. An unholy alliance including UKIP, the Greens, the likes of Vivienne Westwood and parties from across the political spectrum have united to try stop TTIP's progress. Online pressure groups such as Sum Of Us and 38 Degrees have been encouraging the public to question those with the powers to stop TTIP. A vote on TTIP was suspended in the European Parliament today. Then this happened.
