  1. Well I've heard that Lambert's new assistant manager is sorted and its certainly a big name. Not one I'd have guessed and not sure many would. I won't/can't say who it is so please don't clog the thread up asking or send loads of PM's, it will break soon enough or I will say when I can. Feel free to dismiss this if you want given I've not named him, given some of the vague stuff people post I wouldn't blame you. But I've absolutely no reason to doubt this information is accurate.
  2. In sure he has a thread hidden away somewhere. Apologies mods if he has one, but he's back! http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-owner-randy-lerner-11055402
  3. No thread for Michael Drennan so i thought would start one! Done well at Carlisle on loan, and now joined Portsmouth on loan. 5 in 5 for Republic Of Ireland U21's as well. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/26290975
  4. This type of thread my already have been done so if it has i apologise but this is just a couple of thoughts i have been having over the last few weeks. So next season we are going to be playing championship football and it occurred to me that next season there will be a number of players that have come through the Villa youth system that somebody within the mess that is the management set-up of villa decided were not good enough to play for the club. just to clarify i am not talking about the likes of James Milner or Benteke. Craig Gardner - Not the greatest of players to ever pull the villa shirt on but none the less a steady solid player that i think would have added something to the shambles of our midfield over that last few years, plus could have filled in at full back if needed. If i am getting given a choice of Gardner or Bacuna who has filled a similar role over that time i know who i would rather have had. I am not 100% on his contract situation but i am assuming he will still be at WBA next season. Steven Davis - I am pretty sure he was voted as player of the season one of the season he played for us and i am almost certain would have had a far more positive impact on our joke of a squad than the likes of westwood and bacuna. Next season probably playing regularly for a top 8 team in Southampton and will be going to the Euro's with Northern Ireland. Gary Cahill - Since being deemed not good enough for a place in the Villa team by Martin O'Neill he has gone on to a big money move to Chelsea and a regular place in the England Squad. So next year when we are probably playing Walsall in a local derby Cahill can look forward to derby games against Arsenal, West Ham etc. Marc Albrighton - the most recent of the academy players i can think of deemed not good enough for Villa and then going off to play regulary in the premier league. In my view this one sums up Villa in a nutshell. the player not good enough for the might Villa plays a sigifigant part in winning the Premier League with Leicester City while the team he wasn't good enough to get in are being relegated with the most pathetic points total in the history of the premier league with the most pathetic bunch of people in any squad in the history of the premier league. (just a note here as well that refer to the players as people not as footballers because i think the is something intrinsically wrong with the playing staff as human beings not just as footballers. I think a lot of our players have issue's with there character that runs deeper than football). so there is just a couple of thoughts, i am sure people will highlight that Cahill wanted to leave and i would say yes perhaps he did but thats because he knew he was good enoigh to be playing week in and week out and its the reason we are left with garbage like Clarke as our academy graduate centre back.
  5. Looks like the article wasn't meant to be released until 9:30PM. Seems a little strange to me that Tom Fox would come here, a new owner could come at any point and he be out of a job.
  6. A profile of Villa's first Togan International MOUSTAPHA SALIFOU Position - Right-wing, Striker Born - Lomé, Togo DOB - 01/06/83 Height 5'11 (1.80m) Weight 10st 12lbs (152lbs) Previous clubs Modèle de Lomé (Togo) Rot-Weiss Oberhausen (Germany) Stade Brest (France) FC Wil (Switzerland) Cost - Undisclosed Career stats Modèle de Lomé (Togo) - No data available Rot-Weiss Oberhausen - 33 apps, 1 goal Stade Brest - 7 apps, 0 goals FC Wil - No data available International - 37 caps, 4 goals Salifou made his debut for his home town club at the age of 18. He must have impressed because barely a year after that he had been snapped up by the then 2nd tier (2.Bundesliga) German outfit Rot-Weiss Oberhausen. He spent 3 seasons with Oberhausen and left at the end of the 04/05 season as the club suffered relegation to the North Regional 3rd division. He moved on loan to Brest in France where he struggled to get into the side. He has spent 2 seasons at Brest and at the time of writing has represented his country an impressive 37 times although he has only hit the net 4 times. He can play both right wing and up front. He is a pacy player who has also been described as very creative. He has a never-say-die attitude that O'Neill likes in his players. He sometimes lacks composure or poise in front of goal accounting for his low goal return but Villa will be hoping that he can add an extra something to the squad and hopefully some of Emmanuel Adebayor's experience will come with him. He is no doubt the first Togan to represent the Villa and represents Martin O'Neill's 8th summer signing.
  7. cliky for OS Click here for previous speculation topic Welcome Nicklas (Apologies for locking previous topic but a quirk of this new forum forces it upon us)
  8. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/aston-villa-chase-roy-keane-3638096 Will be announced after the Swiss friendly, he can speak 8 languages.
  9. Ssn saying we have Agreed to take him on loan!!
  10. So, Lamberts giving him quite a bit of game time this pre-season despite the fact that we have Clark, Baker, Vlaar, Okore and Herd who can all play CB. Lambert must see something, any one have much info on him?
  11. Sod it I am calling it as it is on Feyenoord's Official Site http://www.feyenoord...laar_naar_villa
  12. Who was the better striker? Yorke had better teammates and managers, Benteke scored less....if you had to build a team around one of them, who would you pick?
  13. I'd heard about injuries to the likes of Gabby, Collins, Davies, Cuellar. But not seeing Delfouneso even on the bench on Saturday took me by surprise What's up with him?
  14. Seems to be liked by PL and getting a lot of game time in pre season. Obviously made his first team debut last yr, but could really play more this season, maybe even moved ahead of Bowery. So what type of player is he? I've only seen him in Next Gen final and first half tonight.
  15. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11677/9115123/transfer-news-aston-villa-want-wigan-striker-grant-holt-on-loan http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N_F0PCNFxSs A real man.
  16. OK... i know.. yes everyone hates him at the moment. He had bad words to say about the club.. etc etc. If he is willing to have a fresh start at the club gets back his form when he first joined... Will everyone forgive and forget? I miss having a left back at the club! Im not sure why we are supposedly chasing Hutton when we have Young and Lichaj and even Cuellar.. Im assuming that Warnock will be playing for Villa again. Be interesting to see the reaction. Before his injuries.. i remember him making last ditch tackles.. real commitment to the cause.. Id love to see that form back despite what has gone on.. (of which i am not even 100% sure what happened). As we all know.. in a working environment, when you have a boss that makes your life hard.. you want to leave and find a new job or tough it out till he leaves. Yay or Nay for Warnock?
