  1. Starting tonight against Fulham. Never heard of him before myself but found a nice piece on him by the Birmingham Mail. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-portugal-lowdown-18-year-old-9636558
  2. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25628806 Former Aston Villa, West Ham and Everton midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has announced he is gay. The 31-year-old, who won 52 caps for Germany, made the announcement in magazine Die Zeit. High-profile athletes from other sports have openly discussed their sexuality in recent years, with Olympic diver Tom Daley revealing in December he was in a relationship with a man. But Hitzlsperger is only the fourth footballer to do so publicly. In February 2013, former United States and Leeds United winger Robbie Rogers said he was gay. Swedish lower league player Anton Hysen, son of former Liverpool player Glenn Hysen, publicly announced his homosexuality in an interview with a Swedish football magazine in 2011. More to follow.
  3. Surprised a thread hasn't been started for him tbh. Yesterday in the second half he looked solid, got forward a lot and had some neat touches in midfield. Stood out for me above anyone else.
  4. Can we repoen the thread? Just wanted to post that I have been impressed with him in pre season. Looks really up for it and some of his passing has been great to watch. Think him, Al Ahmadi, Bannan/New CM and Holman will be a great 4 in midfield. Narrow but with the emphasis on possession football and not playing in straight lines for once!
  5. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-set-appoint-colin-12193974 Looks pretty nailed on.
  6. Josh Onomah has joined us on loan for the season! A young Spurs player who has been referred to as the best of the current generation of the Spurs academy, it is somewhat surprising he's actually being allowed to go out on loan, let alone to the Championship. It's likely we'll see him coming in to replace Grealish in the squad as the most attacking midfielder, however he has also played out wide for Spurs and often gets referred to as a box-to-box midfielder and has been compared favourably to Moussa Dembele by fans. Here's hoping it works out! www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/tottenham-transfer-news-josh-onomah-aston-villa-loan-mauricio-pochettino-loan-deal-a7876226.html
  7. This one looks about done. Welcome!

  9. really cant wait for delph to come back now!already getting excited about the prospect of him and ireland in the middle, albrighton on the right downing on the left ash young just sitting behind gabby,so much pace and young british talent!i no i will get slated for this cos petrov is our captain but delph is his natural replacement and has the ability to be an absolute monster if he comes back from his acl injury 100%
  10. Aston Villa have formally submitted a €10m offer for Lorient striker Jordan Ayew, excluding bonuses. For the time being, Lorient have yet to respond to the offer.

Just been announced he is the new manager of Genk. Can't find a link anywhere mods but it's all over twitter.
  12. Not sure how much of this is Man City making his availability for a loan move known to all or how much of it is us really wanting him but we have been linked with Scott Sinclair overnight: Daily Mail A few blogs have picked it up too, that Italian Sky Sports guy Gianluca Di Marizo also has it and he seems reasonably well respected. Admittedly I'd never heard of him until the Podolski to Inter rumour blew up and he seemed to be the guy who gave that credibility. Anyway, it's an interesting move if it happens, Sinclair had an injury hit loan spell at West Brom last year but if he is fit and in form then he might be exactly what we need. I'd rather have a wide man in the side playing ahead of blokes that just don't have it (Weimann) or have it but don't appear to be interested (N'Zogbia) so fingers crossed on this one.

  14. https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2016/10/13/stephen-clemence-arrives Aston Villa are delighted to confirm that Stephen Clemence has joined us today as first team coach. Clemence joins Steve Bruce’s backroom staff, having previously worked with him at Hull City and also at Sunderland. Welcome to the party
  15. Apparently he is joining bruces backroom staff according to the gazette. Flopped as manager but highly rated as a coach and worked with bruce before this can only be a positive surely?
  16. Apoligises if there is already a post dedicated to Benji, i have checked and gone through a years posts and couldnt find one :-) anyways, i was hoping to maybe see more of him this season maybe in the cup games, but seeing as weve signed steer whos took second place in the keeping order and Benji hasnt been given a first team squad number, im guessing he wont be featuring yet this season? which leads me onto the question, does anyone know anymore about him? age, height, reserve progression etc? thanks
  17. Loks like this one is happening then, just hope this doesnt mean we get rid of Kozak.
  18. Everton’s midfield stalwart Gareth Barry will be celebrating a personal milestone when he starts Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough. The match will mark his 600th Premier League appearance, and third overall in the all-time list. Fellow midfielder Frank Lampard has 609, and winger Ryan Giggs is at 632. He probably already has a thread somewhere, but sorry guys I couldn't find it. Many many congratulations Gareth, pleasure watching you play in our shirt! Wish he was still with us to be honest. Top professional.
  19. Can't find a topic about this lad but he seems to be scoring all of our goals this preseason. Any of you U21 followers got any info on him? Could he play a part this season?
