  1. I think he's good. What do you think?
  2. Very excited about this player, he's 15 and plays centre midfield, he made his debut for u18s last season at the age of 14. He made his u16 debut at 12. He made his England u16 debut at 14 and has played for England u17 this season, I think he is superb
  3. Well, every time I've started a thread about a player this summer within 12 hours they have signed so, welcome Albert Adomah? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/08/30/gb-aston-villa-move-for-albert-adomah-back-on/ Quick, strong, six million quid, can't go wrong? As was noted in the speculation thread he has played in over 40 games in his last 6 seasons, all at this level. He's 28 years old and has 24 goals and 15 assists in his last 130 games for Boro and has a handy 7.06 rating on WhoScored - https://www.whoscored.com/Players/35328/History/Albert-Adomah Historical Participations Summary Defensive Offensive Passing Detailed View: Overall Home Away Season Team Tournament Apps Mins Goals Assists Yel Red SpG PS% AerialsWon MotM Rating 2016/2017 Middlesbrough Premier League 1(1) 121 - - - - 2 75 - - 6.27 2015/2016 Middlesbrough EC 36(7) 3234 6 5 1 - 1.9 77.7 0.7 6 7.20 2014/2015 Middlesbrough EC 43(3) 3744 6 4 8 1 1.6 72.8 0.7 2 7.02 2013/2014 Middlesbrough EC 38(4) 3433 12 6 2 - 1.6 74.3 0.5 2 7.00 2014 Ghana WC 0(1) 12 - - - - - 71.4 - - 6.45 Total / Average 134 10544 24 15 11 1 1.7 74.9 0.6 10 7.06 Obligatory YouTube clip - Thoughts?
  4. Would be a good addition to the side
  5. http://www.gianlucadimarzio.com/calciomercato/kozak-allaston-villa-accordo-con-la-lazio/ Believed to be a loan deal according to the reporter who wrote the artcle above. 24 years old, Libor is a big, strong striker in the Benteke mould, top scorer in the Europa League last season with 10 goals in 11 games. Update: A few Lazio fans believe it is a permanent deal.
  6. Sorry Mods, but i could not find the thread, so merge if it still exists 8) For me, the shining light in a pretty dire team performance. Showed some real neat touches, and you know what? I think weve got a gem 8)
  7. Did a search but couldn't find a thread for this lad. Went on loan to Stevenage in August and has had a bad couple of months with Injuries but last few games been coming off the bench. Scored a cracker on his full Stevenage debut
  8. As this one seems to be close now, I think he can have his own thread. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/transfer-news-details-aston-villas-11551494 Aston Villa are hoping to make Hellas Verona stopper Pierluigi Gollini their second signing of the summer. The claret and blues have lodged a £4.1m bid with the Serie A side and are now waiting to see if it has been accepted. Gollini, 21, is said to be interested in a return to England having previously been on the books at Manchester United. He left Old Trafford to play first-team football in 2014 and caught the eye with 26 appearances in the Italian top-flight last term. Villa boss Roberto Di Matteo desperately wants a new stopper in before the squad travel to Austria next week and has held lengthy discussions with goalkeeping coach Massimo Battara at possible options. It was decided earlier this week that Gollini was the man they should approach after a glowing reference from Battara and Villa are now waiting to see if they get their man. Last season goalkeepers Brad Guzan and Mark Bunn were rotated as both struggled to find the kind of consistency needed to retain the No.1 spot. Guzan is yet to return for pre-season training as he was given extra days off following his Copa America duties.
  9. Our new CEO, Keith Wyness, fronted up to the media today alongside Di Matteo and Xia. Spoke very well, and comes with a good track record and experience from Everton. It's good to have an experienced CEO in place and an owner with ambition. Wyness has a big job on his hands. "I've seen many chairman come in and promise the world and deliver an atlas!" Let's hope we don't get an atlas.
  10. 5 in 11 to start the season. 5 in 33 to finish the season. Last Premier League goal? 5th November. The worst run of form in his career. His career is baring striking similarities to how Vassell's went. Every season we would say "this season he will get 15-20 goals" and it never came and it isn't coming for Gabby either. The stats are upsetting, the performances have been frightening. I imagine a lot of you, like me, see him as your favourite player in the squad which makes it all the more distressing seeing him play like this. How about this for another statistic... In his last 68 Premier League games he has scored 10 goals What next for our Gabs?
  11. After triple checking the correct spelling, I think our new Assistant Manager deserves his own thread. Steve Clarke should be a good appointment and has the right experience. Only time and VT opinions will tell. Currently, Clarke's appointment is pure speculation, even though the BBC states otherwise, thus - http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36435484
  12. Juan Pablo Angel...Juan pablo Montoya?? Are these fella's friends??? I would of thought they might be!!! I'm sure Montoya has a place here in the U.K!!! just a late night thought!! and a late thought, just thought i'd do a poll!!!
  13. confirmed as manager till 2018 As per BBC Radio 5 live

    Adama Traore

Sky Sports Transfer Centre have basically paraphrased this article: http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20150803/201097739785/adama-de-gira-por-inglaterra.html TRAORE IN TALKS WITH THREE PL CLUBS Barcelona starlet Adama Traore will visit the facilities of three Premier League clubs and negotiate with each of them this week, according to Mundo Deportivo. The teenager’s future has been subject to heavy speculation in recent weeks and it was reported on Monday that he has already travelled to Merseyside to undergo a medical with Liverpool. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the winger, who has been granted permission to miss Barca B training sessions this week, will use his time in England to visit the facilities of Liverpool, Stoke Cityand Aston Villa and hold talks with all three Premier League sides before deciding his next destination. Traore, who is under contract until 2018, has a €15m buyout clause. Barca would prefer to sell him rather than loan him out, although they would look to include a buyback clause into any transfer.
  15. Didn't see tonight- what happened with his injury? Gutted for the lad if he's ruled out a while just as he gets some first team minutes.

    Brad Guzan

So how does everyone feel about our American custodian? I believe the common consensus was that he was a highly promising keeper, ready to be our long-term number 1 for when Friedel retired/left. His performance in Prague in particular, was exemplary. However his stock came crashing down after that semi-final against Blackburn when his aerial ability nearly cost us a place at Wembley. Since then, he has hardly played, been out on loan and generally seen as nothing more than a reserve keeper. Baring in mind he will be 27 in a couple of months, are his days numbered here? Or does anyone actually believe that he could be our first choice keeper with more development? Its sad because that Carling Cup run made him then broke him.
  17. Starting tonight against Fulham. Never heard of him before myself but found a nice piece on him by the Birmingham Mail. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-portugal-lowdown-18-year-old-9636558
  18. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/25628806 Former Aston Villa, West Ham and Everton midfielder Thomas Hitzlsperger has announced he is gay. The 31-year-old, who won 52 caps for Germany, made the announcement in magazine Die Zeit. High-profile athletes from other sports have openly discussed their sexuality in recent years, with Olympic diver Tom Daley revealing in December he was in a relationship with a man. But Hitzlsperger is only the fourth footballer to do so publicly. In February 2013, former United States and Leeds United winger Robbie Rogers said he was gay. Swedish lower league player Anton Hysen, son of former Liverpool player Glenn Hysen, publicly announced his homosexuality in an interview with a Swedish football magazine in 2011. More to follow.
  19. Tony following him on Twitter, he's a villain now....
  20. Surprised a thread hasn't been started for him tbh. Yesterday in the second half he looked solid, got forward a lot and had some neat touches in midfield. Stood out for me above anyone else.
  21. Can we repoen the thread? Just wanted to post that I have been impressed with him in pre season. Looks really up for it and some of his passing has been great to watch. Think him, Al Ahmadi, Bannan/New CM and Holman will be a great 4 in midfield. Narrow but with the emphasis on possession football and not playing in straight lines for once!
  22. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-set-appoint-colin-12193974 Looks pretty nailed on.
