  1. Stolen from the Brum Mail. Not sure how to do this, a series of polls perhaps? Factoring in price, salaries, performances and my personal opinion of them as players and humans I think I'll end up with: Group A: 1 Lescott (High salary & utterly crap). 2 Bacuna (Delusional and here for 4 years) Group B: 1 McCormack ( Massive fee, massive salary, massive idiot) 2 Sanchez (He wasn't that bad but the only one of those left who cost money) Group C 1 Richards (Ridiculous salary, constantly injured and a gung-ho attitude to defending) 2 N'Zogbia ( High transfer fee, high salary and terrible attitude) Group D 1 Drinkwater (Only a loan signing but still high wages and pathetic performances on the field, also a convicted drunk driver who headbutted a teammate since coming here). 2 Tshibola (Can only imagine Steve Clarke got part of the transfer fee? Baffling signing) On to the knock out stages. Quarterfinals: Lescott beats Sanchez by a mile McCormack beats Bacuna even more clearly Richards pips Tshibola Drinkwater vs N'Zogbia is probably the closest quarterfinal. I went with personal dislike over longevity and money so Drinkwater takes it. Semi Finals: Lescott vs McCormack. It has to be McCormack. Not a single thing about this signing was good, nothing. Richards vs Drinkwater. Ranked 489th last out of 492 players this season on Whoscored with a average of 5.74. Granted in a very small sample size. He should never have been signed. Final: McCormack vs Drinkwater. And the winner is Ross McCormack by a country gate. It's not even close. Guy is a tool and even after being released he is still a poison to the club. Take a bow son Not to be taken too seriously.
  2. This deserves its own thread. So sad to just read the news. Wonderful football, great left foot and was very disappointed when we sold him. Thoughts of with his family and loved ones.
  3. Looks like we are close to signing him on loan. Would be absolutely delighted with this signing. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3606911/chelseas-tammy-abraham-close-to-aston-villa-loan-move-sources
  4. Would be a good addition to the side
  5. This one looks about done. Welcome!
  6. Birmingham Mail are reporting that we’re in for him on loan until the end of the season, so I thought he deserved his own thread. Birmingham Mail
  7. Apparently he is joining bruces backroom staff according to the gazette. Flopped as manager but highly rated as a coach and worked with bruce before this can only be a positive surely?
  8. Heretic

    Tom Fox

Sorry if this has been posted elsewhere. I couldn't find it. It's an article where Tom Fox talks about his time at Villa. More on link
  9. There have been plenty of rumours about us trying to get Robert Snodgrass on loan from West Ham. Here's an article in the Birmingham Mail about it...
  10. Josh Onomah has joined us on loan for the season! A young Spurs player who has been referred to as the best of the current generation of the Spurs academy, it is somewhat surprising he's actually being allowed to go out on loan, let alone to the Championship. It's likely we'll see him coming in to replace Grealish in the squad as the most attacking midfielder, however he has also played out wide for Spurs and often gets referred to as a box-to-box midfielder and has been compared favourably to Moussa Dembele by fans. Here's hoping it works out! www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/transfers/tottenham-transfer-news-josh-onomah-aston-villa-loan-mauricio-pochettino-loan-deal-a7876226.html
  11. Don't all start this player thread at once! Ah bugger, spelt it wrong in the title...
  12. Apparent heart attack. Report here. Sorry for short link. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/39660196 Former England and Aston Villa defender Ugo Ehiogu is in hospital after collapsing at Tottenham's training centre on Thursday. The 44-year-old, who is Spurs' Under-23s coach, received medical treatment on site being transferred to hospital by ambulance, the Premier League club confirmed. "Everyone at the club sends their best wishes to Ugo and his family," Tottenham added in a statement. Ehiogu has been at Spurs since 2014. He made over 200 appearances for Aston Villa between 1991 and 2000 before spending seven years at Middlesbrough. Ehiogu, who was capped four times by England, also played for West Brom, Leeds, Rangers and Sheffield United before retiring in 2009.
  13. John Percy saying Chris Samba training with us as he is a free agent have we really got that desperate? Former Blackburn and QPR defender Chris Samba, now a free agent, is training with #avfc
  14. Tony following him on Twitter, he's a villain now....
  15. This news has beaten all the press it would seem. As the rules stipulate to open a new player thread you must provide a link to the speculation source, I have had to link an old article from the Brum Mail in the Summer. It speculates where Villa could pick up an Icelandic star. Welcome Birkir (fingers crossed Villa Transfers Twitter account is on the money again) https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/heres-aston-villa-could-pick-11534357.amp?client=ms-android-samsung
  16. http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-set-appoint-colin-12193974 Looks pretty nailed on.

    Nicola Keye

Hey, trivial with all that's going on I know , but I can't see anything on here about this - but it appears Nicky Keye has left to join West Ham?

Hull City goalkeeping coach Gary Walsh departs for Aston Villa
  19. Did a search but couldn't find a thread for this lad. Went on loan to Stevenage in August and has had a bad couple of months with Injuries but last few games been coming off the bench. Scored a cracker on his full Stevenage debut
  20. https://www.avfc.co.uk/News/2016/10/13/stephen-clemence-arrives Aston Villa are delighted to confirm that Stephen Clemence has joined us today as first team coach. Clemence joins Steve Bruce’s backroom staff, having previously worked with him at Hull City and also at Sunderland. Welcome to the party
  21. About time he has his own thread now,set to be announced as manager tomorrow. Welcome aboad Steve!
  22. Everton’s midfield stalwart Gareth Barry will be celebrating a personal milestone when he starts Saturday’s game against Middlesbrough. The match will mark his 600th Premier League appearance, and third overall in the all-time list. Fellow midfielder Frank Lampard has 609, and winger Ryan Giggs is at 632. He probably already has a thread somewhere, but sorry guys I couldn't find it. Many many congratulations Gareth, pleasure watching you play in our shirt! Wish he was still with us to be honest. Top professional.

  24. Well, every time I've started a thread about a player this summer within 12 hours they have signed so, welcome Albert Adomah? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2016/08/30/gb-aston-villa-move-for-albert-adomah-back-on/ Quick, strong, six million quid, can't go wrong? As was noted in the speculation thread he has played in over 40 games in his last 6 seasons, all at this level. He's 28 years old and has 24 goals and 15 assists in his last 130 games for Boro and has a handy 7.06 rating on WhoScored - https://www.whoscored.com/Players/35328/History/Albert-Adomah Historical Participations Summary Defensive Offensive Passing Detailed View: Overall Home Away Season Team Tournament Apps Mins Goals Assists Yel Red SpG PS% AerialsWon MotM Rating 2016/2017 Middlesbrough Premier League 1(1) 121 - - - - 2 75 - - 6.27 2015/2016 Middlesbrough EC 36(7) 3234 6 5 1 - 1.9 77.7 0.7 6 7.20 2014/2015 Middlesbrough EC 43(3) 3744 6 4 8 1 1.6 72.8 0.7 2 7.02 2013/2014 Middlesbrough EC 38(4) 3433 12 6 2 - 1.6 74.3 0.5 2 7.00 2014 Ghana WC 0(1) 12 - - - - - 71.4 - - 6.45 Total / Average 134 10544 24 15 11 1 1.7 74.9 0.6 10 7.06 Obligatory YouTube clip - Thoughts?
