Thought it would be good for Austin to have his own thread (I couldn’t find an existing one) given the positive impact of the set pieces against Newcastle. Also it’s been reported (Sky Sports and The Times) that he’s joining up with the Scotland national team. Not sure how this will work with his role at Villa.

Aston Villa is pleased to announce the appointment of Josep Gombau as the club’s new Under-21 Head Coach. Gombau took his first steps in coaching with Amposta and Espanyol before operating in several player development posts at the famous Barcelona youth academy for a number of years. avfc

I've always been curious as to why the club don't list the coaching staff on the club website. It would be good to see how we compare with other clubs since we are always talking about being ambitious. I know we would employ plenty of others within the academy staff but how does this list compare to other teams staff ? I couldnt believe we dont have a thread for our number two good old pako!! He came highly rated before coming over with emery and maybe we havent given him as much credit as he deserves. He has a reputation as one of the best coaches out there for fitness. I have to say this is one of the fittest villa sides ive seen in years. Under gerrard our stats were some of the worst in terms of running and how much was covered. Our fitness looked poor. I think pakos been abit of a unsung hero here. him and unai certainly are the dream team for us. I think he has been a big upgrade on mccalister and Shakespeare (the latter i expected big improvements from

Well I've heard that Lambert's new assistant manager is sorted and its certainly a big name. Not one I'd have guessed and not sure many would. I won't/can't say who it is so please don't clog the thread up asking or send loads of PM's, it will break soon enough or I will say when I can. Feel free to dismiss this if you want given I've not named him, given some of the vague stuff people post I wouldn't blame you. But I've absolutely no reason to doubt this information is accurate.

Probably needs its on thread now as RDM has confirmed his interest in him. Just click it I would imagine this ones happening for him to confirm it. i have to be honest i don't know anything about him, wont take much to be better than our current cm though

Remember someone asked before who the female who's started appearing amongst the matchday technical staff (also known as the bench!) - but can't be bothered to look. That is none other than American Serra Tumay who joined in September as Head of Nutrition - Studied at UCLA and was apparently a pretty reputable player herself.
