    The Royal Family

Very interesting times at the moment. Prince Andrew's involvement with convicted child abusers Prince Philip looks to be on his last legs Prince Harry trying to opt out of the family business and having showdown talks today with the boss.

    The '20s

Not off to a very good start. But much can happen in ten years. What are your predictions for the 2020's? What are your hopes and fears? What are your personal goals?
  3. I'll start. English beer is overrated.
  4. I'm sure we've done this before but can't find it. What would the perfect Premier League lineup be? You know we always here about the clubs that deserve to be at the top table, the proper clubs, the big clubs... But what's the definitive lineup for you? Is it all the classic titans of English football, including the ones that have been lost to fallow decades? Does it have a few of the unlikely names to get some success in recent years like Leicester? Or perhaps some of the plucky minnows to play at the highest level in the last 20 years make the cut? It's a harder question than it appears...
  5. Strengths? Weaknesses? What are you good at? Shit at? What makes you, you? Do you ever analyse your character? As I get older, I analyse myself, but more so the affect I have on others. Even 2 or 3 years ago, I wouldn't think too much about anything I said.. Maybe it's having children, maybe it's age or a mixture of both. I'd say something like "I think too deeply", but I don't think that's necessarily true to be honest. I do think I "feel" more about certain things when I compare my reaction to something, to my wife's reaction. We've just come back from Las Vegas, where everything is BIG and in your face. I walk around with my mouth open and my wife just takes it in her stride. When we got back and saw my kids, I welled up a bit at their reaction to seeing us. I think maybe I feel nostalgia quite vividly compared to her, but I couldn't quantify it. I want to be everywhere at once. I get somewhat jealous of other peoples experiences for no reason. It doesn't manifest itself any particular way, but I'll compare myself to whoever it may be to see if I've done "better or worse".. Not sure why.. I love learning about stuff.. I'd sit and listen to anything really, BUT I lose interest if whatever I'm learning about gets too in depth. Not sure if that's familiar to anyone. I'd love to know everything about everything, but I lose focus on everything when I'm content enough. That isn't particularly helpful when it comes to education. I'd never be able to become a Mechanical Engineer because even though I find stuff interesting, knowing too much about... I dunno... an Air Handling Unit is boring, right? I know a bit about a lot I guess. I really, actively enjoy winding people up and seeing how far I can push/annoy that person until they actually get angry.. Why? No idea, I hate the thought of upsetting people.
  6. Talk about sparklers melting kids hands off and your neighbours setting fire to their gardens because the councils are skint and cant afford a proper bonfire or something.
  7. In case you want to talk about Christmas for some reason.
  8. In case anyone wants to talk about Halloween
  9. I think has been mentioned in another thread but maybe an open discussion about it. Think its hard to look past Roger Federer he is such an immense athlete and still going at 37. For example he is 8 months older than John Terry and Tennis is a more physically demanding sport than Football. Just incredible Other names to be included could be Gretzky, Serena Williams and if they keep it up consistently for another 6 or 7 years Ronaldo and Messi
  10. I do like a little quiz every now and then. I played with... Arjen Robben Scott Sinclair Jon Dahl Tomasson Manolo Gabbiadini Royston Drenthe Borja Valero Fernando Cavenaghi Won trophies in multiple countries. Who am I?

    Hobbies

Inspired by @mjmooney not 'getting' Lego in an Airfix world, what are your hobbys? Obviously we have a fair few gymhounds here and the odd musician, and I guess technically the gaming forum is dedicated to a hobby, but it's there anything else you do for the sheer enjoyment of it (fnarr)? Or is life too short? Over the last couple of years I've become a bit of a modeller. Specifically Gundam models. Perhaps a bit odd given my long standing dislike of anime, and the fact I've barely watched any of the many, many (...many) Gundam series there's been over the years, but I like the designs of the mobile suits. It's a slightly simpler form of model making than the likes of Airfix and the classic 'armor' style of military modelling, as the kits almost entirely are glue free and don't require paint, it's more like a more involved Lego (you still need tools for instance, nippers, a craft knife, sanding sticks) and there's a bit of skill to making the models well - getting rid of the nub marks, applying decals (waterslides preferably). I'm now at the point that I'm doing full repaints of the kits and doing some weathering. Still learning but I'm getting better and it's nice to have that getting at the end that you've got something just slightly unique. A few competed builds These are mostly 99% complete. Each needs a matte top coat and the odd thing here and there. None are perfect, by any means, but they're getting better and I'm learning skills with an airbrush and weathering skills. So, what do you fill your days with doing when aren't at work, or asleep, or desperately trying to stay alive?

    Property

Afternoon fellow Villians! I've just got started in a new career in property and was wondering if any other members on here were involved and what you do? It would be good to connect!
  14. Partly triggered by the flu jab debate in General Chat, I felt like the health issue deserved a dedicated thread. Complain about your man flu, debate the economics of the NHS, discuss the latest in medical science, get diagnosed with VT AIDS, whatever. Starting off with... cancer. It's a grim topic, we've lost more than one VTer to it and it's taken several of my friends and relatives, but treatments and survival rates are incomparably better now than when I was a kid, and it was pretty much a death sentence. But that got me thinking about the whole public v. private healthcare debate. Are there any stats on cancer survival rates in the USA as compared to countries with publically funded healthcare? Because although it's now more treatable, those treatments are expensive. If you have cancer and money in the US, you're probably well placed to get the best care. But if you haven't got money? Breaking Bad was food for thought, but what's the reality like? Are cancer death rates in America significantly worse than (say) Europe?
  15. So, less than a week to go. Certainly has crept up on me this year. Do not feel festive this year at all mainly because i've been ill since I got back from my holiday a month ago! No Xmas shopping done yet and haven't even listened to any Xmas songs either I missed out on a festive gig tonight (mate's band at Hare and Hounds in Kings Heath) and will probably miss my office Xmas party on Friday. What has everyone got planned? Hopefully I'll be well enough to visit my folks in their new gaff on the day itself. Other than that, not a lot.
  16. Driving to work seems to get slower and slower, and thats even without the hassle of finding somewhere to park. It got me thinking on average how far you could drive before you hit road works - ? - I had a figure in my mind of maybe 10-11 miles - but very unscientifically I know - I reckon the figure is about 6 (and I don't work in Central Birmingham) 9 Mile trip to villa park yesterday - I encountered 3 sets - Friday night I drove 15 miles to Boldmere 2 sets 6 miles to work - I currently encounter 1 - although thinking back throughout the year it has on occasions been 2 or 3 Staggering really.
  17. So there are some old traditions and idiosyncrasies in football that are quite unique. Where do they come from? Is there any meaning to them? For example why a “hat trick” for three goals (not just football specific)? Then when you score a hat trick why do you get to keep the match ball?
  18. I figure that by the end of this thread, the Flatulence thread will look highbrow. I just did a double take because I didn't know what I just swallowed. Dunno if it was a bite of the pizza I'm eating or a string of congealed blood dangling from the roof of my mouth because I had my rear molar pulled earlier today and I've been leaking blood. Pretty barbaric visit. He had to slice and dice around my gum line and make three saw cuts around the tooth before he took a set of jumbo pliers and twisted the thing out of there. The dental assistant was making pained sounds throughout. Not very helpful. But yeah, I've been reckoning with this swinging tendon of congealment, trying not to swallow it.

    Flatulence

Funny things, farts. They are unique and varied. Some are sweet, some are loud, some are soft, some are destructive. They bring us laughter and relief but also great shame and embarrassment. Sometimes I wonder if the totality of human flatulence is affecting the ozone layer. You could hear my grandfather coming from rooms away because he'd fart while walking. Each step would trigger an additional release, propelling him onward. Because he was virtually deaf at the time, I doubt he heard the commotion. Lately I've had bazooka farts. A sudden surge of gas bottled up by my sphincter and then just as quickly booming outward with a satisfying baritone.
  20. I mean I know some are - like if you have been digging a hole or day - then you dream of digging a hole, I can see the link. But what about when you have a typically ordinary day - but then dream you're a fighter pilot flying over Iraq ? - is there always a link, but you just can't see it ? or are they just wacco jibberish ? Do dreams serve a purpose ? - do we ever not dream ?
  21. A place to name and shame your clearings in the wood. Evidence your claims, please. There is little point naming someone without providing evidence My starter for ten Doesn't matter how she dresses it up, that's a sore loser. Always been a horror anyway but this is just her latest atrocity. It's impossible to fathom why she thought to tweet that was a good idea
  22. How do people use VT? Do you check all your notifications, just some or just ignore it? What's your order of sections or do you look at the most recent posts and just read new content? Is there an area you never go in? Ignore a lot of people? Tell me EVERYTHING!!!
  23. I’m looking for a new gaming site to get my news from. My regular choice has become insufferable by mixing in biased social politics with their news and editorials plus their reviews are opinionated blogs that say nothing about the game they are reviewing. Also, I hate Ellie Gibson and Wesley Yin-Poole so no prises for guessing which site I’m abandoning. Are there any (good) sites that just strictly focus on gaming instead of mixing in politics/religion/fluff?
  24. I was thinking last night, whether I am working class, or middle class. Done some random online tests which mainly came back working Class, and my family I'd say are working Class. Strange one really though, and I imagine a lot of people like myself, are not really sure. Rugeley itself I'd say is a working class town, but when I think of proper working class, I think of parts of the north of England. Anyway, carry on....
