  2. Another games thread from moi... Anyone else play this game? (watch this if you havent got a clue what im talking about) Myself and D1 are on there. I did think Resi 4 was a shoe in for my game of 2005. Now im not so sure. This thing is epic! edit: 19th October 2007 Just because im a nice guy, some info: If you are thinking of signing up, make a Horde character on Tarren Mill server and you will get some help from plenty of Villa Fans. World of Warcraft is a class based game, and what class you pick will have a massive impact on your overall experience. I found the best thing to do when deciding a class is to have a look at this link before you take the plunge. There are also lots of quests to do in World of Warcraft. If you get stuck on a quest, visit the mighty Wowhead.com People who play WoW and post on VT. Forum name and in game character name. Some people have more than one character. Tarren Mill Server (PvP) Horde Limpid = Limpid, Limped, Limpt The_Rev = Nayson, Eau (taking a break at the moment) ED = Evildan, Ewiddan, Lolmangle Designer1 = Siongest, Sionguest Risso = Rissok Trl = Trl, Renew, Handful Red_5 = Samisdead Irishjay = Rishj Juju = Samosa, Merkin, Vilajuju Craigyh_74 = Tarq, Tarqy Ill edit more of this later, adding more useful links and the names and servers of the anti social bastards who didnt pick Horde on Tarren Mill.
  3. Got 10/10 on Gamespot & IGN. Reviewing very highly across the board. I've never played any of the games, don't know what they're about, don't know if I'd like them, but after reading the reviews, it almost certainly seems like there would be a good game there. Anyone getting it?
  4. The next edition of FM sort of announced.... Will also be on the Xbox Series X/S console & game pass as well as Steam and the usual other places Football Manager 2022 - Release Date - Nov 9th Will be interesting to see what the new features will be. I know they mentioned adding female players & leagues, but I'd think that would be a few years down the line in terms of finalizing a database.
  5. Even more exciting than Mass Effect 3 (IMO), the next Elder Scrolls is due out next November. I'm a huge fan of Bethesda games and this should be something pretty special. I may book the 11th November 2011 onwards off work now!
  6. Comes out in 2 days for the UK but I already have it. I really enjoy it. The zombies are very difficult to kill even with stronger weapons. You can't just take on hoards and expect to live. Being out at night is terrifying. You honestly feel the fear as the player. Story has been good so far. Seems like it will take me days to complete to be honest.
  7. Monster Hunter World is nearly with us. The review embargo just ended and it's received pretty much universal praise. The Monster Hunter series has been massive in Japan for years but never really managed to travel very well. It's a very idiosyncratic series, with lots going on and quite different to anything else really. Extremely varied weapons, an animation priority style fight system, reliance on co-op, a huge crafting system with food forming a significant element of it, and it's own take on a lot system... It never really caught on outside of some fans who adore it. This time, however, things have been... amended... to attract a wide audience and it seems to have worked. Crafting has been streamlined, game world mechanics have been switched to create something closer to a true open world, joining quests made easier... And they slapped a load of 'pretty' all over it. It looks great. It appears it is great. I played Ultimate on the Wii U for a while solo and kinda liked it, but hit a wall and gave in... Might be time to jump back in.
  8. Isometric! Baldurs Gate team! Unity Engine! What's not to like, eh? I Must admit I do struggle with the traditional stats systems these old school RPGs use, but for an RPG like this to look this nice and be so much fun to play, I think Obsidian have played a blinder. A studio that has a great track record...
  9. Thought there was a thread on this, couldn't find it though. Looks interesting, space exploration is for me at least, still a pretty exciting prospect in a game. The concern of 'what you actually do', and why you actually do it, is something most gamers are going to have to be convinced of before the game comes out though, I think. There's an interesting interview with the dev's at E3 here which is worth a read, one of the most interesting points I picked out was this Curious. They also use games like Minecraft and Terraria as examples of games where players just get on with playing, and the concerns of why, and the backstory to where they are, isn't important. I remain unconvinced, but am quite eager to have a go myself all the same.
  10. Just started playing this on Steam - still completely in Alpha at the time of this post (.48) and has just been confirmed that it will be coming to PS4 (in 2015) in the future. The game has many issues right now, but still one of my favourite games at the moment.
  11. I had downloaded the Beta & will give it a hammering when I get off work tonight, so will post up some impressions. This is for the PVP mode only not story. Anyone else downloaded the closed Beta?
  12. The Outer Worlds is out now and is the spiritual successor to Fallout New Vegas but in a futuristic Sci-Fi setting. If you've followed coverage of the game, then you probably have heard every outlet and game review mention this but it's still worth emphasising because since New Vegas, there haven't been a lot of RPGs like it and New Vegas is almost ten years old. I've had a ton of fun playing it so far. Its refreshing to play a game that is clearly made to be the best game possible and not a vehicle to entice you to spend extra money on cosmetics and upgrades. In fact, at the time of posting there are no micro-transactions. There are also very few bugs. I've had one game crash and one incident of very slow "pop-in" and that's about it (ps4 pro for reference). It certainly puts other bigger studios to shame in this regard. The game is at it's best when you are exploring every nook and cranny to uncover the true narrative of what is happening in the world. It also has tonnes of NPCs with interesting dialogue options and side quests. Choices I've had to make so far have been tough ones and they do seem to have an impact on the world. It isn't, however, a looter-shooter. I'm 15 hours in and combat has been brief and simple. It's still satisfying to craft an overpowered weapon and make short work of enemies, but it lacks the horror element of say Fallout 3, where, at the start of the game you felt very vulnerable and each encounter was tense. I've already thinking of a genocide run on the hardest setting for my next playthough to alleviate this. Overall I would say it's very much worth your time and I really hope it's a commercial success. Single player games of this type are few and far between if you're not into Souls-like games and if it does well, it may encourage other smaller studios to follow suit.
  13. Anyone playing the Beta? Despite its flaws, I loved the first game (2015). It did not have a huge amount of content on launch but I really liked the casual arcade feel of the game. A lot of the early balance issues and grenade spam were fixed and I had a blast. Supremacy on Endor was probably the best map I've played in a multiplayer console shooter. The best thing in the beta is the space combat. I think it's good enough to carry the game and the closest we will get to a dogfighting multiplayer game on console. I didn't care much for the infantry fighting. There is a huge amount of grenade spam, little choice in weapons available and once defenders figure out that turrets are OP it will become a very frustrating experience. I also am experiencing frame rate drops during hectic action. The most egregious aspect is the new lootbox system. It's blatantly pay2win with some legendarys offering huge bonuses (40% extra base health on starfighters being the most obvious example) I suspect they will leave this in until month or two after launch then nerf the hell out of it. They did a similar thing with the preorder bonus (Han Solo's pistol) in the first game. This is the main reason I wont be buying at launch.
  14. Looks like it's going to be WW2 judging by the clip released in this tweet. Have to say I'm quite surprised by that. Thought they may have gone for Vietnam or a Modern setting since COD just did WW2. I found BF1 quite boring really, so not really feeling a WW2 game. Would rather a BF3 type setting.

    Shenmue

He shall appear from a far eastern land across the sea, A young man who has yet to know his potential, This potential is a power that could either destroy him or realize his will, His courage shall determine his fate, The path he must traverse, fraught with adversity, I await whilst praying, For this destiny predetermined since ancient times, A pitch black night unfolds with the morning star as its only light, And thus the saga...begins... I don't mean to alarm anyone, but....Sega have re-trademarked the Shenmue name. Now of course this could just be a formality. It probably is, actually. However, it could also mean that a potential HD remake, or better yet, the announcement of Shenmue III, could be imminent. In this thread let's talk about why Shenmue is not merely the best video game of all time, but humanity's greatest work. With that in mind, I will utter those immortal words - "Who the hell do you think you're talking to? You fu'in' with me? Kiss off, twit!"
  16. After the mile wide and inch deep experience that was No Mans Sky, the next project that I am getting unreasonably excited about is Star Citizen. The ambition for this game is HUGE, and the ability of the comparatively small team to deliver against has to be a concern, however if they can pull it off the game looks like it could be a bit epic. Unlike No Mans Sky whilst there are procedural planets they are doing story driven stuff inside it which sounds more like how something like how Red Dead Redemption worked. It relies on multiplayer and there will be PVP, mining and a a bunch of ships with different flying styles and a bunch of vehicles to use when you land on a planet. I have a number of concerns with the scope being so huge, all the delays that have already been announced and how they are looking at monetising it (it looks very expensive as they have it at the moment) but if it is good as I hope then take my money.
  17. I remember originally playing Trials or Trials 2 on miniclip.com back in the day, obviously since then the series has come on leaps and bounds but the premise is still the same. Downloading Trials Fusion now, looks really good IMO. Always fun games to play, anybody else getting it?
  18. Hi guys After about 5 years I need a new gaming PC. At the moment I play League of Legends, CS:GO and PUBG. I am aware that the following build is overkill for these games but I plan on playing games that require a more powerful PC. I have little experience with computer hardware and would like to know your opinion on the following build: Motherboard: Gigabyte Z390 Gaming X (LGA 1151, Intel Z390, ATX) CPU: Intel Core i9-9900K (LGA 1151, 3.60GHz, Unlocked) CPU cooler: be quiet! Dark Rock Advanced C1 (16.60cm) GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Gaming 8GB (this is my current GPU. Bought it a few months ago) RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V (2x, 16GB, DDR4-3200, DIMM 288) Power: be quiet! Power Zone (850W) SSD: Crucial MX500 (1000GB, 2.5") (additionally I'll use a 1TB HDD from my current PC) Tower: be quiet! Dark Base 700 (Midi Tower, Insulated) Comments: I'm not upgrading my current PC because I could do with a second PC (for LANs). I don't want/need water cooling. It would be easy to upgrade if I change my mind. I know the GPU isn't up to par with the rest of the hardware. I plan on getting a new GPU in 1-2 years I picked a slightly cheaper motherboard (compared to the rest of the components) because the only difference I could find on the more expensive one was that it had more USB 3.0 and USB-C ports. Questions: Anything on the list that's not worth the money? Is the case big enough or do I need a big tower? Ideas for improvement? Other comments or suggestions? Thanks for your feedback! . . Edit: I posted unintentionally before I was finished Edit 2: Mods please feel free to move this to the tech section if you feel this is the wrong place to post. I don't know how to move it.
  19. Apparently this is rather good. I only ever played the original, back in 2002, but might eventually have to jump in with this. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea but I'm intrigued with how they've mixed up the gameplay from the standard hack and slash fare.
  20. Anyone seen the trailer thingy for this yet?! Looks awesome!!
  21. Finally out tomorrow, the much delayed sequel the Xbox 360 gem has had a very long and troubled development, and the reaction? Shrug. The gameplay itself looks very very tired and while the graphics are technically impressive the art design is, imo, horrendously ugly. It looks like a generic Dreamcast game with the quality turned up to a million. It's simultaneously bland, garish, stark and dull. I guess if you really, really liked Crackdown a decade ago, this is for you. I really can't see it standing up to much else today. Oh and the multiplayer, made a different development team and with the destruction stuff they originally sold the game on added in, hasn't really been lauded much as far as I can see in quite some time. Still if you have Gamepass, it's not costing you much I guess.
  22. I know there used to be a thread, but it seems to have been pruned. Just re-installed this (using Wine) and I'm thinking about re-subscribing. Is anyone here still playing? Link in case someone hasn't heard of it before.
  23. Release date of 4th November, 2 week beta access if pre purchased from authorised retailers. FM Touch is available as a standalone and also included with the full game. There is a loyalty reward for pre purchasing through Steam, up to 20% discount for owning all of FM13-16 or 5% for each one. I'm trying not to buy this year, but I know I'll cave at some point and end up smashing it for months. Min Specs OS: Windows 7, 8, 8.1, 10 (64 or 32 bit) Processor: Intel Pentium 4 Intel Core AMD Athlon 2.2GHz+ Memory: 2 GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT AMD/ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2400 Intel GMA X3100 256MB VRAM DirectX: Version 9.0c Storage: 3 GB available space
  24. Anyone picking up the new COD? I haven't played a COD for years, probably BLOPS1 was the last one I played. However, the new "Blackout" (Battle Royale) mode actually looks incredibly fun. All streamers seem to be loving it and i'm enjoying watching it too. The BETA for Blackout starts today on PC and Xbox for anyone who wants to give it a go. I've pre-ordered on Amazon for a code but will cancel the pre-order if it's shit.
