  2. As the overwhelming majority of fans (on VT at least) now seem to be in favour of sacking Lambert, the question now emerges of who would we replace him with if he did go? To save clogging up the Lambert thread I thought we could put the discussion here. So, even if you don't agree that it's the right decision, in the hypothetical scenario that Lambert is sacked tomorrow, who would you replace him with? (Obviously I'm talking within the realms of reality here. Who could we attract?)
  3. From the Mail...http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/premierleague/article-2839286/Lewis-MacLeod-tracked-Aston-Villa-Rangers-starlet-gears-England-clash.html Lewis MacLeod tracked by Aston Villa as Rangers starlet gears up for England clash Villa scouts watched MacLeod in Rangers 1-1 draw with Alloa The 20-year-old could feature on the bench for Scotland against England By Simon Jones for MailOnline Aston Villa are monitoring 20-year-old Rangers starlet Lewis MacLeod. Club scouts saw him impress against Alloa Athletic on Saturday in the Scottish Championship match and he created Rangers’ goal in a 1-1 draw which keeps them in the hunt for a third successive automatic promotion. The midfielder gained his first call-up to the full Scotland squad for the qualifier against Ireland last week and tonight’s friendly clash with England but was released by Gordon Strachan to play for his club on Saturday. Know nothing about him, worth a punt?
  4. Sorry if this has been posted already...from the Mirror http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-plot-swoop-jonas-4635520 Aston Villa plot swoop for Jonas Olsson as replacement for Manchester United target Ron Vlaar The 6ft 4ins Swede, 31, has been frozen out at West Brom since the arrival of former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott Switch: Could former Jonas Olsson cross from West Brom to Midlands rivals Aston Villa? Aston Villa could raid neighbours West Brom for former captain Jonas Olsson if they lose the fight to keep their own skipper Ron Vlaar. The 6ft 4ins Swede, 31, has been out of Albion’s first-team plans since September when former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott took over. And he would give Villa a ready-made answer in January if they are unable to hold off Manchester United’s interest in Dutch World Cup star Vlaar. Villa boss Paul Lambert has the backing of owner Randy Lerner to turn down United, even though it means he could lose his captain for nothing in the summer. But with contract talks failing to even get started, and Vlaar’s agent warning this week that it was time for his client to find “a nice big move”, he will find it hard to block United boss Louis van Gaal’s approaches. I'd rather keep Vlaar personally, never rated Olsson.
  5. Apparently we are trying to get Dempsey on a loan deal. He was great during the world cup, but apparently has been average in the MLS. He can't really be worse than what we currently have though. http://prosoccertalk.nbcsports.com/2014/10/27/report-clint-dempsey-heading-back-to-premier-league-on-loan/

  7. http://forzaitalianfootball.com/2014/09/aston-villa-lead-chase-for-ex-udinese-midfielder/? I know nothing about this guy, saw links with him yesterday but since it's now on Forza Italia thought it might be worthy of a thread. (didn't know where else to put it).

One of the top 3 strikers of the world (sarcasm) has now been linked to Aston Villa Danish newspaper says that Villa has gone into the battle to sign Bendtner on a free transfer.. They also say that Helenius is on his way to his old club AAB on a loan http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbold/udenlandsk_fodbold/engelsk_fodbold/PremierLeague/article2302222.ece TBH i think he would be a really good signing... if he stops being a dumbass and focuses on football... 20. Queens Park Rangers defender Nedum Onuoha is attracting interest from Aston Villa, The 27-year-old has two years left on his current deal and Villa are looking to provide cover for Ron Vlaar and Ciaran Clark as Jores Okore returns from injury. http://www.expressandstar.com/sport/2014/05/09/transfer-rumours-may-9-4/ Found the link on the side of AVFC website! !
  21. "Javier Hernandez is reportedly a key transfer target for Aston Villa in the summer. The Daily Mail reports that Aston Villa will up their ambitions in the summer and the 25-year-old Manchester United striker has been identified as a perfect player to add to the Villa Park ranks. The Mexican forward has been on the fringes at Old Trafford for some time, he has a record of 59 goals in 150 games since joining the club in 2010. Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lewis Holtby is also a target. Would you want these two players at Villa Park?" http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-rumour-mill-javier-7056902 You can also read about it on AVFC website!
