  1. http://www.eurosport.co.uk/football/serie-a/2016-2017/ravel-morrison-set-to-leave-lazio-for-aston-villa_sto5732663/story.shtml Ravel Morrison set to leave Lazio for Aston Villa By FootballItalia 31 minutes ago Ravel Morrison has been left out of the Lazio squad again as rumours grow that he will be heading to Aston Villa. The Aquile begin their Serie A season tonight against Atalanta. Morrison is not even in the travelling party to Bergamo, despite impressing in training. The Corriere dello Sport claims this is because he is set for a transfer to Aston Villa over the next few days. The 23-year-old creative midfielder managed only eight appearances in a Lazio jersey for a grand total of 159 minutes of football. 2. Rumours he could be a permanent member of the board. If you want to go into conspiracy mode - is he actually the supplier of funds to purchase the club, while presenting Tony Xia as the mega rich squeaky clean front man ? - sounds far far fetched, but thats exactly what happened at Reading. The rich billionaire who supposedly brought the club, just disapeared - leaving Reading on the verge of bankruptcy. Not beyond that realms of possibility that the same thing will happen here... http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/chris-samuelson-former-reading-fc-11355076 Former Reading FC director Chris Samuelson is understood to be part of the Chinese takeover at Aston Villa. Samuelson arrived at Madejski Stadium in 2012 and initially was the public face of Anton Zingarevich’s Thames Sport Investment company. Once TSI’s takeover was complete, Samuelson took up a position on the board at Reading, along with Andrew Obolensky. Both then left the board in June 2014 after Zingarevich had disappeared, leaving the club in the midst of a perilous financial crisis.

ok so it appears i am blind and didn't see the other article please delete this topic
  4. Yes please to this as he is a very good keeper! Probably should never have left Sunderland only because of the emergence of Jordan Pickford. Much better keeper than Mannone who finished the season for them. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/new-aston-villa-boss-roberto-8232488
  5. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3611434/Roberto-Di-Matteo-inching-closer-named-Aston-Villa-manager.html?ITO=1490&ns_mchannel=rss&ns_campaign=1490 With Di Matteo rumoured to become Villa's manager in the next few days, it would be realistic to create a thread about him, even if it's just speculation at the moment. What do you think of him? How long will he be Villa's manager for? Is this the start of a new managerial era?
  6. So with the supposed take over supposedly being cancelled/failed, we need to generate more money. Apparently today the north stand was being cleaned (first time in yrs?). Maybe something is in the pipeline re the remaining of VP? I wouldn't be adverse as it would still be known as VP .

    Lovre Kalinić

    Looking likely now: http://www.101greatgoals.com/blog/aston-villa-are-signing-hadjuk-goalie-lovre-kalinic-for-e6-5m-slobodna-dalmacija/
  8. Discuss ... I realise we have so many big problems to worry about right now, but I can't help but begin to think that January represents a possible ladder out of hell for us. We need a striker or number 10, a keeper, and a center back, from what I can see.
  9. Loan to end of the season. Few papers running it so someone's been tipped off. May be at the game tonight (that's me speculating). http://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-debuchy-10744251

  11. Should he not get his own thread now? Been rumoured for weeks and now our manager has confirmed he's on our list of targets. I don't think he'll keep us up...he couldn't keep QPR up when he joined mid season in 2012-13 despite them being in a better position. He's a good striker but not that good. That said he was what we needed at the start of the season, lots of pace and and can score in 6 yard box. Him and Ayew would be a good combination imo and fun to watch, we might actually win a game before the end of the season. Would still class it as a long shot, I doubt Chelsea will even loan him out just because Bamford has come back as he made little impact at Palace. He'll probably end up here instead. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/35198358
  12. better than what we have but a http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/aston-villa/12059837/Aston-Villa-to-launch-6.5m-bid-for-Evertons-Steven-Naismith.html Byram could be a good signing as well
  13. Oh Tim signing your Spurs rejects. oh wait http://www.skysports.com/football/news/12040/10101592/premier-league-clubs-interested-in-january-loan-for-tottenhams-andros-townsend

    New manager

It's looking increasingly likely that Tim will be gone by Monday. Who does everyone want next?
  15. Tottenham have released Adebayor on a free. As he hasn't played for them, or been registered for them, I believe he is free to sign for another club. I wonder if he might finally come here? Didn't Sherwood make some comments about him yesterday? - We can confirm that we've reached a mutual agreement with @E_Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club. http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/emmanuel-adebayor-130915/ "We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Emmanuel Adebayor which will see him released from his contract with the Club." - Sherwood comments (12/9): http://www.skysports.com/football/news/11677/9989496/tim-sherwood-would-welcome-emmanuel-adebayor-to-aston-villa "Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood says he would sign Emmanuel Adebayor "in a heartbeat" if the striker wanted to leave Tottenham."

  17. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/everton-aston-villa-target-ahmed-6443206 Linked with Ahmed Elmohamady... Steve Bruce is ready to let Ahmed Elmohamady leave for the Premier League. Leicester, Swansea, Everton and Aston Villa will fight to sign Hull’s £5million-rated winger when the January transfer window opens up. The Egypt international is keen to make a quick return to the top flight following City’s relegation last May, and a source confirmed: ”The player is expected to leave Hull in January. “Several offers have been received from Premier League clubs who are interested in Ahmed because of his experience, and he prefers to continue his English journey.” And Tigers boss Bruce, preparing for a trip to Cardiff on Tuesday, confirmed: “I won’t stand in his way. Elmo is in the final year of his contract with us, and the last thing we would want is to lose him on a free next summer. Ideally, we want him to stay for longer and we intend to talk to him about signing a new long-term deal. And, while he is here, he’s got to knuckle down and respect the contract he has got with us. “He is just one of several players we’ve got who are desperate to play in the Premier League, and why wouldn’t they be? I want to manage in the Premier League. “But you have got to accept that we’ve been relegated and, together, it’s up to us to put that right.” Hull need to stay in contention for a first-time promotion back to the big time to have any chance of holding on to Elmohamady, who makes his 101st consecutive league start for the Tigers on Tuesday night.
  18. Guess it's time for this thread again - seeing as the one last year was opened in March. Linked with Diego from Fenerbache today in The Metro (blacklisted so couldn't start a thread about it) http://metro.co.uk/2015/04/13/aston-villa-cleared-to-make-transfer-bid-for-fenerbache-midfielder-diego-5148535/ Nothing pertinent there but imagine signing him - that'd be the most exciting signing we'd made in years, for me.
  19. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/11835389/Aston-Villa-back-in-for-Emmanuel-Adebayor.html John Percy, FYI... I think this counts as "news".
  20. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/football/594475/Exclusive-Dimitar-Berbatov-Aston-Villa-Transfer-News One of my favourite players so I'd be chuffed to see him here. Not sure if it's sensible, but...
  21. Linked to him with many media outlets, this being one of them: http://Adem Ljajic I must admit that when I saw the headline on the SSN site - "Villa open talks with Ljajic" - I thought David Villa was looking to join a new Serbian club or something.
  22. Assuming we sign Gestede, Veretout and Adebayor, how does everyone see us lining up on the first day of season?? Not the team you would pick, the team that you think will start the match, and no hedging your bets, just pick 11 players and a formation.... I think as follows - Bunn Hutton Richards Clark Amavi Gueye Veretout Sinclair Grealish Ayew Adebayor
  23. Seems as if this is becoming more likely, so thought its own topic was worthy. If we can sort it so it's not financially a burden, and given how sherwood got him playing brilliantly again, I think he could be a good signing. UTV. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3167088/Aston-Villa-open-talks-Tottenham-Emmanuel-Adebayor.html "Aston Villa have opened talks with Tottenham over the proposed transfer of Emmanuel Adebayor. Manager Tim Sherwood has earmarked the 31-year-old as a replacement for Liverpool-bound Christian Benteke. Tottenham want around £4million for Adebayor but the stumbling block is his wages of £100,000-a-week. Villa hope to arrange a deal where bonuses can supplement Adebayor's wages."
  24. Sky Sports just confirming we are in for Fonte. Southampton going for Van Dijk and would need to come in first. Interesting one, had a good season last year. Thought he was highly regarded down there.
