  1. JPAngel

    Josh King

According to our good friend Percy, we’ve launched a £16m bid for Josh King so I suppose it makes sense to open a post. The link to the Telegraph article is HERE I actually prefer King to Wilson. Whenever I’ve watched him he’s looked like he has more to his all round game than Wilson and I think he’d be a good signing at the sub £20m mark providing we bring in further competition (e.g. Watkins). That being said, the idea does lack a little creativity doesn’t it? “Oh, Wilson didnt want to join us... who else y’got?”.
  2. Angel will hit form sooner rather than later and when he does bag a couple his confidence will rocket and the onion bag will feel his wrath. It has to happen especially with the way Baros has been playing in support.
  3. Would be a good addition to the side
  4. New youngster. Signed from Norwich for the academy. Anyone know anything about him?
  5. While it's too early to really make any judgement on whether or not he'll come good, I will say that with him in the squad, there's a disconcerting effort to hoof it up to him. That's not entirely his fault at all but I sincerely hope that we're not being directed to kick it up to him when he's in the squad. It creates bad habits.
  6. Looks like we are close to signing him on loan. Would be absolutely delighted with this signing. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/soccer-transfers/story/3606911/chelseas-tammy-abraham-close-to-aston-villa-loan-move-sources
  7. Worth starting a thread as this one is looking nailed on. Full article in the Birmingham Mail here - http://tinyurl.com/zpwwrol I can't pretend to know anything about him, but the reaction from Reading supporters seems to suggest we're potentially getting a bargain. Fingers crossed!
  8. Don't all start this player thread at once! Ah bugger, spelt it wrong in the title...
  9. So... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/37220214 Yes from me based on the very little I have seen and the few bits I have heard. Pacey, strong, scores goals. 19 Championship goals last season. Get him in and be done with it!
  10. He’s a Dutch player who’s position is defender, 16 years old and has 2 caps for the Netherlands U15. According to Transfermarkt.
  11. What can we expect? Seems to be playing well in the U21-series and next gen series. I know there is alot of hype around him and hes highly thought of. Anyone seen him play? I know people said a while ago that hes a like young (!) Ashley Young. How old is he? 17?
  12. Sky Sports Transfer Centre have basically paraphrased this article: http://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20150803/201097739785/adama-de-gira-por-inglaterra.html TRAORE IN TALKS WITH THREE PL CLUBS Barcelona starlet Adama Traore will visit the facilities of three Premier League clubs and negotiate with each of them this week, according to Mundo Deportivo. The teenager’s future has been subject to heavy speculation in recent weeks and it was reported on Monday that he has already travelled to Merseyside to undergo a medical with Liverpool. However, according to Mundo Deportivo, the winger, who has been granted permission to miss Barca B training sessions this week, will use his time in England to visit the facilities of Liverpool, Stoke Cityand Aston Villa and hold talks with all three Premier League sides before deciding his next destination. Traore, who is under contract until 2018, has a €15m buyout clause. Barca would prefer to sell him rather than loan him out, although they would look to include a buyback clause into any transfer.
  13. Did a search but couldn't find a thread for this lad. Went on loan to Stevenage in August and has had a bad couple of months with Injuries but last few games been coming off the bench. Scored a cracker on his full Stevenage debut
  14. don't know if this has been posted before, but I was just randomly watching some old villa video's on you tube and came across one I hadn't seen in a few years of juan pablos boy playing football.. think he was like 8 at the time and that was 3/4, maybe more years ago .. so just wondering if anyone knows if he actually has ended up progressing or if he's currently on the under 13's book at a club somewhere ???
  15. This deserves its own thread. So sad to just read the news. Wonderful football, great left foot and was very disappointed when we sold him. Thoughts of with his family and loved ones.
  16. 5 in 11 to start the season. 5 in 33 to finish the season. Last Premier League goal? 5th November. The worst run of form in his career. His career is baring striking similarities to how Vassell's went. Every season we would say "this season he will get 15-20 goals" and it never came and it isn't coming for Gabby either. The stats are upsetting, the performances have been frightening. I imagine a lot of you, like me, see him as your favourite player in the squad which makes it all the more distressing seeing him play like this. How about this for another statistic... In his last 68 Premier League games he has scored 10 goals What next for our Gabs?
  17. There have been plenty of rumours about us trying to get Robert Snodgrass on loan from West Ham. Here's an article in the Birmingham Mail about it...
  18. Anyone know much about this lad from our under 17's? Travelling with the first team today. I've not heard of him before.
  19. Ah, tis official http://www.avfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10265~3215194,00.html
  20. Couldn't find a thread for him. Only came to mind because i seen it on the club's Twitter page it was his birthday. Class keeper. I remember that 93/94 season where he saved a tonne of penalties. Save from Hughes also in the league cup final at the end. Save from bebeto against deportivio i think, in the UEFA cup ( and it was a bloody hard competition then )
  21. Just wanted to post about an experience I had of meeting Brad and how nice of a guy he was at the time. It happened in June of 1996 after the US played Ireland in the U.S. Cup. For the game itself, that was great with us winning 2-1, Anyway, this was my first USMNT game as my dad had won tickets from his job and took me and my brother. I was very excited at this time,(10 years old), to attend my first national team game. When the game was over, their was an autograph session with the players and even though the lines were quite long, no way were my brother and I going to leave without getting some stuff signed. After Lalas and Cobi Jones signed, we came to Brad. Now to put this into even more context of how important and momentous this was for me, Friedel was my favorite player as I myself was a GK on my youth team and so therefore tried to emulate everything about how he played the game. I think Friedel could sense my nervousness lol as I stood speechless in front of the table after he asked me my name and did I enjoy the game. After a few more seconds of silence,he told me to stand off to the side for a few minutes and he would come talk to me. I nodded mutely and me and my brother did so. Eventually he did come over to talk to us, and after a few more minutes of star struckness from me, I began to open up to him and he even ended up giving me some pointers to help with my own game, let my dad take a picture of me and him, and lastly had a team assistant go and grab his backup jersey for me to take home with me. To say that I was overjoyed would be an understatement; one of the best days of my adolescence no doubt. Just thought I would tell this as just all seems to be even sweeter that down the road he became the Villa GK and now I am a Villa fan also. Anyone else have a story to tell about meeting their hero?
