  1. I don’t think it will be overturned, it’s a really weird rule/law where if, off the ball when play has stopped, your hand touches an opponent’s face, it’s a red card, but if you smash your arm into them during play (Guimares) it’s not seen to be a problem.
  2. Another thing that I really like about Emery is the lack of excuses he makes (as observed in the interview in previous posts) I’m fairly certain that last season I heard every single premier league manager make an excuse or comment on a refereeing decision or performance. I can’t remember Emery ever doing this, he just makes it about what he and the players can control. Unfortunately, it certainly won’t stop me from moaning about refereeing decisions and performances though.
  3. No middle Ramsey even in the squad today, loan deal imminent?
  4. That’s a really strange post from their forum, looks to me like they are still fuming about losing Joachim on the cheap and have a fabricated a story around it.
  5. Just caught the end of the Euro under 17 quarter final, he came on as sub and had a couple of really good bits of play. Nothing spectacular but lots of other players were panicking around him and he seemed to keep his cool.
  6. Thought he had a good game today (along with everyone else) but I’m not sure he’s suited to Emery’s style - he seems less comfortable on the ball when under pressure than most, even Konsa today was fantastic in the first half when pressed. maybe it will come, he’s had a lot less time than many other players to work under Emery, he was away for the World Cup and Emery played less of the players who’d been away for the tournament in January, plus he’s he’s had some injuries since
  7. This is spot on, could of even added more on if you take into account that there was a large number of offsides that were called back, once the free kick is given surely all of the football to follow before it was pulled back should be played again, in terms of time (hope that makes sense) however many (almost all) other games I watch have several minutes less added than they should in my opinion, so when you see the match continuing well into the 98th minute today it is very annoying.
  8. Really happy with the performance and result today. Every week we seem to be getting closer to what I imagine Emery wants from his team. So many good performances I’m struggling to pick a man of the match, I’d say between Mings and Luiz - had a great game, even more impressive considering Kamara was missing McGinn - also really good today, playing the deeper role which many have said he’s unable to do. Hardly got anything wrong but sometimes doesn’t quite release the ball quick enough but seems to improving on that Moreno - so impressive going forward, always available for the pass, great attacking intent, dribbling and delivery was spot on today Ramsey - I didn’t think he’d been as terrible recently as many on here have said, but today he frequently did what he’s best at, carried the ball through traffic over great distances. So happy for him getting the goal, you could see the frustration and relief of recent weeks coming out Bailey - did really well for the goal but never seems confident enough to attack his man early or look for the forward pass - not a good performance Buendia - found him very frustrating first half, he’s really good on the ball but seems to find himself losing the ball under pressure far too frequently - but he also picks a forward through ball better than most sorry for the excessively long post thanks if you managed to get to the end *corrected some poor grammar
  9. I can see why the pen wasn’t given, I don’t think it was a deliberate action towards the ball. My main disclaimer is I think loads of pens get given for handball that shouldn’t be (including a few against us) I possibly disagree with about 50% of handball penalties that I’ve seen in recent seasons.
  10. Probably shouldn’t be restarting this debate, but after watching Pochettino working as a pundit on the bbc, I’d say Emery’s command of the English language is far superior. Also I expect it to improve even further over the next (hopefully) 5+ years.
  11. Was going to mention this myself, love the confidence he had to make the forward run and he made the right run behind the full back, was quite unlucky with the cross- good block stopped it getting to Ings, could tell he appreciated the attempt too.
  12. Other than playing Martinez at right back I quite like that team.
  13. The Guardian’s predicted lineup has Ings in for Watkins, Dendoncker in for Ramsey and Bailey in for Buendia. What are peoples thoughts on that if it’s accurate? Not the team I’d pick but I’d at least be happy for Watkins to finally be dropped, been a long time coming.
  14. I’m really upset with the defeat but I’d rather not take it out on anyone currently, although I have many criticisms. Loads of credit for everyone at Villa for getting 2 up. Also, I was furious that I didn’t really see the Coutinho goal on sky because 3/4 of the screen was taken by Spurs scoring their 12th goal against relegated in November Norwich.
